At this point I'm almost convinced it's some sort of bug with their inventory system. The local one has stuff in glass boxes that makes absolutely no sense. I had to call someone for a $1.06 roll of sewing elastic a week or so ago, and the way this particular WM lays out its craft stuff the only other things in the case were other sizes of elastic and wooden dowels. I got a 'can you believe this shit?' from the cashier who pulled it for me and she just threw it in the cart rather than forcing me to ring immediately.

I'm gonna defend this and note you are falling right into a Democrat trap.
The idea for these is two fold, one "All Other Factors Being Equal" and two "Targeted Areas".
When deciding what candidate to run for a seat a set of candidates is drawn up that all have roughly equal credentials to each other. From there, they are narrowed down by personality, likeability, usability, etc. These initiatives simply place a somewhat higher emphasis on 'diversity' traits after drawing up the shortlist. After, not before. If the shortlist is all white guys then the candidate will be a white guy because only white guys were qualified. So right off the bat you already have a very large split from DEI initiatives.
Then comes targeted areas. put simply, this isn't being done everywhere. Its not even being done ins wing states. Its being done in hard blue areas. Areas where the GOP is expecting to lose anyway. By putting such candidates in these areas it does two things. First, it gives more experience to them in running campaigns and gives them a springboard to other parts of the political apparatus if they do well. Encouraging advancement based on meritocracy. Second, it provides an edge or at least blunts the enemy's edge based on diversity characteristics. it is, put simply, a way to get a leg up in an area you otherwise have listed as a loss. So why not?
In the end, these initiatives are about Equality, not Equity, providing a leg up yes but in an area and by methods that fairly judge all others based on merit before considering other characteristics. And that is why I say you have fallen into a trap. The article you quote is trying really hard to conflate the two because this strategy both proves their equity push wrong and severely undermines their efforts. It makes an area, at the very least, require resources to defend that they cannot spare.
That all being said we'd be fools to not keep an eye on these programs due to the inherent risk of infiltration.

I’m probably going to consistently bring this up, but I really believe the US and its demented leadership are in the phase of not wanting allies, but retards who will obey them. It’s like the Soviets and Afghanistan, couldn’t deal with someone being ideologically similar you need total control.
Going back to the end of Obama’s 2nd term you have the Vatican being removed from SWIFT due to “money laundering” worries. The 2016 DNC leaks had Podesta taking about wanting to remove Benedict prior to that. The entire SWIFT block and Benedict’s resignation had a big effect with the migrant crisis. Benedict actually was trying to remove homosexuals, traffickers, and wolves in sheep’s clothing from Italy. He was known for getting along with some of the more hardline American Bishops like Strickland who was removed by Francis for being outspoken about how the border crisis is not like the Holy Family seeking refugee in Egypt.
The Church in the US has the issue of having Pennsylvania and parts of New York being faggot central and the Pope being effectively installed for Globohomo. Read Benedict’s What is Christianity? It’s his deathbed writings about faggots, communists, and politicians in the Church.

I don't think there's a visible difference to the leadership at this point, to be honest. Allies implies a mutual self interest that may have disagreements. Simply doing what is told is a control position, not one of mutual interest. At best, the current US approach seems to be "Do everything we want you to do now, and eventually it'll be a good outcome for you like you want", rather than the allied approach which tends to require more constant compensation.
What's weird to me is how this is a really new thing - Even early in the Biden admin they seemed to be much more capable or willing to reciprocate, but now they are either unable or unwilling to do so, and we're seeing shit that mutual agreement would have solved months ago drag out, like the slapdash foreign efforts around the Yemen blockade. And there seems to be some recognition of this suddenly being a problem too, its suddenly been raised that naval cargo capacity is a huge security risk right now and a lot of any transport lift capacity seems to rely on allies that the US is only just realizing might not bend over backwards for them, and might not even be able to even if they wanted too.

Russia surviving after debanking kind of surprised everyone. I think most of the world is in favor of a multipolar world because if one side tries to freeze you out you can at least go to the other. I really don't get why that's surprising unless you assume Russia are idiots. If Hillary Clinton became president then the war in Ukraine and the repercussions would've happened four years earlier. Russia had front row seats to the near-miss, and they know they would've collapsed if it happened then.
