Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I can't even be bothered to pay attention to this game anymore. I loved hating on Vanguard and even MWII, but this game is just...boring to even laugh at. XDefiant can't come soon enough, I think we will see a similar level of seethe from COD Cucks as we've seen from the PalWorld spergout when the game releases proper. Anytime I see footage of the game, it genuinely gives me oldschool COD vibes, hard to believe that Ubisoft might topple the king of all studios

Pretty sure the Warhammer model that was leaked is actually for a juggernaut, considering there was also a shield leaked as well
at least it moves more closes to what an actual space marine would move like, none of that slow hulking shit.

well, it's ubisoft, so best keep your expectations low. ubisoft is king of solid core gameplay buried under all kinds of asinine design decisions, technical retardation and a solid layer of wokeshit that drags everything down.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I don't think Ubisoft can outjew Activision at this point. The latter is just on a whole different level. At the very least the early days will be decent enough, before the microtransaction gravy starts dropping, if they can fix the connection issues

I pointed this out in the post.
According to some posts from Office and some random users, the Space Marine models have the file name of "Juggernaut" or has something related to it, making people theorize that the upcoming Juggernaut Deathmatch mode is a crossover with Warhammer.
Other than this, the other leading theory that the skins are related to the mode is when they discuss the Juggermosh mode they tack on at the end "Expect an Event to launch alongside this limited-time mode." Also now actually reading the blog post it seems like they're going for Diet Coke Space Marine style combat with the third person higher melee damage and ground pound shit along with a focus on the one hit kill melee weapon.

Considering the detail of the Space Marines, I highly doubt that the skins will only be for the mode or even the Juggernaut killstreak, especially since I haven't seen anything relating to any other Warhammer x CoD shit.

it's not the monetization you'd have to worry about, if anything I'd say ubisoft if pretty "fair" usually.
however look at division and siege, that's what you have to expect. oh and if ubisoft wants to jew you, they gonna do it hard and lie right to your face. I can live with greed, but when you try to bullshit me at least be open about it.

The old CODs are on sale on Steam, so I went ahead and picked up WaW, which I used to play a lot on the PS3. I'm not interested in anyone's weird gameplay mod or getting my shit pushed in by sweats, so I downloaded a bot mod that works with a 3rd-party server called Plutonium.

Despite this being one of the worst CODs in terms of weapon and perk balance, it still is striking just how far the COD aesthetic has drifted from what made the series so compelling. Everything about the game is trying to evoke WW2. The maps feel like real places, not extreme sports arenas. Of course, cartoon characters and superheroes are nowhere to be found. Nor are there flashy weapon camos. But I also noticed, due to its absence, the constant reminders in-game that I'd just unlocked another widget, completed another challenge, or advanced my battle pass. I really miss games like this, where you really are just playing the game and enjoying the aesthetic, not grinding the battle pass and having the scenery shat up with cartoon characters.

I've actually played a lot of WaW, OG MW and OG Black Ops on Steam just recently, and I still also own these on the PS3 and 360, respectively

Crossover hasn't happened yet so I have no clue, but I'm assuming that they're gonna be the same size as your average male operator and the hitboxes are gonna be the same
I don't think they will, the AOT crossover the hitboxes were a lot bigger or at least seemed bigger. i know aiming at the head meant you got headshots despite the skin seeming at least a bit taller than usual characters.

I checked out some video of XDefiant, and it looks even gayer than current-gen COD. It's everything I don't like about the theme park aesthetic they're going with these days dialed up to 11. I guess if you feel like COD currently needs even more neon pink and cartoon maps, it'll hit the spot.

EDIT:

This to me looks 1000x better:

At the very least they seem to be dropping the "Tom Clancy" label from it.

Do the majority of people actually like the neon cartoon shit? Or are they just pandering to the few whales who do? It unironically makes me miss the 360/PS3 era where every game was overly gritty with a grey/tan filter.

least they're honest going after the fortnite audience, so people can seek or avoid it from the start. look what happened to poor siege...

Replaying Black Ops II reminds me of how influential and beloved this title was to the franchise.
Black Ops 2 is the only science fiction Call of Duty game with a plot and setting that isn’t retarded. It is probably the last time the mainstream western gaming industry will make a game with China as the bad guy. Black Ops 3 is a pro-China circle jerk while being about Russia and the Middle East bad at the same time with it's lore. There rumors Amazon fallout show will retcon Russia as the bad guys and removing China from the lore.

The game looks fine. It's giving me similar vibes to BO2/4 but with more neon. I will take that, considering how much brown and grey there is in a lot of these shooters. It's the gameplay and map design that really sells the game, not the visuals

I disagree: Black Ops 3 was a result of rushed/troubled development, and what we got was not what the devs intended. I am not sure what was the masterplan from the start, but I do like what we got: A dystopian cyberpunk future where the actual conflict becomes a backdrop around halfway thru the story, echoing somewhat to the original Black Ops. Not everyone liked the plot twist in BO3 but I did, loved multiplayer in that game too. Shame that hackers quite literally made it unplayable now, might be time to look into seeing how active it is with third party clients before XDefiant comes out.
Correct me if I am wrong, but BO3 is not pro-china on anything. Hell, most of the story revolves around individualized factions rather than countries, closest we get to an actual geopolitical conflict in that game is the middle eastern sections with NRC. CDP doesn't even appear in the main story properly, they invade CIA blacksites in the background and after the main game's events(leaked BO4 campaign would expand on that). I actually very much like this, how there was less focus on geo politics in that game and more on localized groups we get introduced to, since there is little attachment to futuristic takes on a country in a fictional universe anyways(as opposed to more modern/contemporary or historical CODs)

That's the first I've seen of the gameplay. We've come full-circle to shitty knockoff gook shooters like Soldier Front, A.V.A., and Combat Arms. Except this time, it's current year tech and AAA studios. If you recognize any of these games, it's about time for your prostate exam. You're getting old.

The aesthetics are important to me and part of why I noped out of BO4. Gary Oldman screaming "UNLEASH THE DOGS!" is cool. Some pink-haired bitch chuckling "haha, OWNED" is not. I want to play a game about war, not a game about the Diversity Super Squad playing Airsoft.
