Sad News today. I don't much about staging troops to avoid Missile attacks so I won't comment on the last bit. A reminder that even if you are winning the enemy still will fight hard. A reminder as well that if you think you are winning you are losing and to never let your guard down. Not even for a second.
On a happier note prisoners were taken. It does also seem like more prisoners are being taken recently but I have no hard data to back that up.
So Canada is donating 850 surveillance drones I'm sure they will all be absolutely annihilated in less than a week. At this point peace talks would be smart but the ukies have never claimed to be smart.
These will actually be somewhat useful although 850 is not that many. And they probably aren't super disposable. But recon drones are really useful and get shot down a lot less than drones carrying grenades for example. I would say they would be super useful for artillery spotting but Ukraine doesn't have a lot of artillery.
Goddamn, where do they get the idea that Russian nukes don't work from ? Russian nuclear arsenal for the most part is decades younger then American one or British..
So true. Russia has built a big beautiful nuclear arsenal. I would put a trump gif here but meh.
The things is I have a hard time believing that anyone with remote intelligence and thus even the decision makers in the West believe that anyone would topple Putin.
People in the west operate under old assumptions because they don't understand why things are the way they are. There used to be people who had a really good understanding of the Soviet Elite and devised strategies tailored to how they behaved. Things like the idea of containment were absolutely correct as a strategy.
But that was a long time ago and the people around now are different. Russia changed and no one can figure out how it works. This is one of Putin's advantages.
How much further do the Russians need to advance now that they have taken the town in order to get somewhere really significant in terms of strategic importance?
To be quite honest it really isn't a question how much land Russia takes. It is a question of how much capability Russia and Ukraine have and how that changes across time. That is the boring part of attritional warfare. This is also why Russia has been willing to trade land for soldiers lives when it came into question.
But to answer your question as best as I can here is a picture of the Ukrainian defensive lines. It would be easier if enough of these were breached though how much easier is not clear.
There's no reason China couldn't find some Chinese that can easily blend in with Russia's Asians in the SMO, especially since Ukraine has none of its own. A lot Westerners can't tell Asians apart but it's not an issue for Asians. That said Russia and China have Asians that aren't well known outside their respective regions.
I should clarify why I said China should send officers. The biggest problem the Chinese army, and Marines too I guess, have is that it has been a really long time since they have fought a war. This is incredibly important for fighting well. If they sent volunteers even if only for a little bit it would do their officers well.
Do we still owe the train autist an apology?
What are you referring to for owing him an apology for just be clear because I wasn't sure.
