Eh, i dunno, growing up in crushing poverty does a number on you. Not every kid is resilient enough to take character building lessons from having shit for dinner for most of their childhood or getting just a hug for their birthdays. I agree on the rest of the post, i see my zoomie-and-younger relatives and while i love them dearly i often think to myself "Was i ever this soft and unindependent?", not even regarding major things, just like real basic stuff when it comes to taking care of yourself.
