Helldivers 2 - Hell is more diverse than ever as PlayStation's demographics continue to grow and change.

I have zero doubt they'll be adding fag flags as options come June, if not sooner.
Why the fuck would they? They're making a passion project that as already earned over 10x the revenue they dreamed of. They have no fucking obligation to do any pandering.

They are fighting for Super Earth, not the gay agenda or the Confederacy or for Nazis or anyone. Adding any real-world cultures would break the illusion of Super Earth being one cohesive culture and would hint at divisions that are not supposed to exist.

Been enjoying the game with the boys. About level 27 or so and we are starting to scrap up against suicide mission. the jump in the amount of enemies is nutty.

Dude, they literally just want to shoot bugs and robots. They couldn't give two shits about whatever "lore" you ripped from Heinlein.
My only genuine concern would be the online design of it. The gaming market runs on a depreciation design of online activity. You have previously popular games that used to have 10,000 or more players turned into barely 100 online users in either weeks or months of release. Marketing has changed in the Industry. It's more than web forums, TVs, and promotional pages. Social media holds the life of these games and can kill them at any time. Strange how time changes, isn't it?

From all the videos I've seen so far, the in-mission music is weak as fuck. Give us the proper robot fight music back, not this broken Soviet clown horn bullshit.

Most games have a streaming mode that replaces copyright music with public domain and such. That might be happening here, or maybe they just need to hire a better artist.

If they do need to hire a better artist, they should release the music as part of a major free update for maximum impact

Yeah, the Extraction and drop themes are OK, but the actual bug and automaton themes are pretty weak, especially compared to the original. The 1st one had different music for every 4 difficulty levels you went up so it gave a feeling of progression even with the music. Helps that the 9+ music were bangers too. The 2nd game sort of does this, but the music changes based on certain enemy types appearing, like bile titans.

Here's the enemy themes for difficulties 9+ in the original:
Bugs:

Borgs:

Illuminate:

For comparison, Here's the bile titan theme:

It might be a matter of taste, but I much prefer the original's music. Maybe some modder will let us replace the music files with HD1's music.

No, it's just the composer put all his effort in the menu/ready/deploy/extraction music. I haven't checked, but I wouldn't be surprised if Arrowhead used a different composer for this game than the first one.

To temper my impotent rage, I do like the ship theme and how it builds as you go through the steps of starting a mission, and the deploy theme is great for building up hype while loading in. Extract is okay, it does the job, but I thought more or less the same of the first game's exfil music as well.
Changing the variable mix to be enemy-dependent instead of difficulty-dependent would be cool, if the music didn't kinda suck on its own. With something like the 9+ Cyborg theme, it would more or less do the same as it has ramping up over difficulty, only you'd get the deep bass horns when tanks start showing up and the crazy arpeggios when half the screen is just angry metal, and it could organically ramp down as you flee and winnow out the largest threats. That would be fucking amazing and give perceptive players a little warning that The Shit Has Begun™.

Because if they don't, IGN or Kotaku or somebody will do an ambush interview on one of their leads and do a long write-up on "The Disturbingly Racist, Transphobic Attitudes Behind Helldivers," then launch an Emmanuel Goldstein campaign on Twitter against the guy.
