There is a massive issue with this in this thread. I think it would be better to focus on something other than this take or that take he has in a video. I think this thread would also benefit from people who were/are viewers of his like me.This is just a "I don't like his rightoid politics" thread, where's the funny?
This is where a lot of the funniest things about him lie. He sees himself as more left-wing in comparison to his audience. He wants to deradicalize his audience and is actually trying to make them more left-wing. That is why I don't take the complaining about right-wing politics in this thread very well.Forgot this thread was here and posted this in pophistory, but enjoy

Quite frankly I don't think a lot of academic historians criticizing you says very much. Also using some kind of weird objective standard like this highlights a lot of the problems with academic historians.Someone made a tier list of YouTube channels most often criticised by r/BadHistory. WhatIfAltHist is the only one in the lowest tier.
(Tier list uses some objective metrics with almost academic standards, meaning there should be constant citations edited into the video itself. This is why nobody is in A-tier.)
I agree he is close to becoming quite funny and there have been some quite funny interactions he has had on twitter with people. As for whether he's a lolcow, I don't think so. Not quite yet. I think that this thread should be moved to multimedia. I do think that eventually he will be a lolcow. He's going to continue his descent into Jordan Peterson territory and will either pick up a complementary benzo addiction, or run afoul of someone or some community who will take it upon themselves to really fuck his shit up.
Despite all his failings he deserves a bit more respect than Moviebob. He does have some true things to say although most of that is him parroting what other people think. However sorting through think-tanks and news reports and finding the ones that have something useful to say is a skill. One thing I haven't seen in this thread is he correctly predicted a war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Of course like most people that make predictions he ignores the things he got wrong and highlights the ones he got right. If all those Breadtubers are lolcows (and they are) then Rudyard's "me, an intellectual" postings make him a lolcow too. Some of these are gold. He's like a right-wing Moviebob.
This is one reason I want more viewers of his in this thread. Very often when he tries to predict the future he mentions that getting this right is basically impossible. The thing about making a surface level criticism of someone is they might have already addressed that criticism.Another thing: As a self-styled 'historian', how does Rudyard even rationalise his attempting to predict the future? This activity is usually the province of rabble such as "futurists", religious/cult charlatans and occultists, not historians - their business is with the past, not future.
History is useful because it can tell you a lot about how the world works and how humans work. All kinds of modern events have some similarity to events in the past. Does the war in Ukraine with its trench combat remind you a bit of WW1 era trench warfare? You just connected the past to the present and the future.
My favorite historian, and once greatly respected though now less respected, Will Durant also made a go at attempting to predict some future trends. There are some interesting comments of his that seem somewhat accurate as well.
