It's really:Naruto: "I train really hard and stumble along the way, but through sheer attrition I'm getting stronger!"
Sasuke: "i have magic eyes"
Naruto is weird because in Part 2 he actually does show tactics. The issue is that “smart” characters in setting force everyone to act retarded. Shikamaru and Itachi basically require every character to fall into a plan perfectly and act like retards. It's really:
Naruto: I'm an utter retard and you are just like me.
Sasuke: I'm a psycho and my family are psychos with magic eyes.
Naruto has situational intelligence. One minute, he's 4D chessing Zabuza's pea brain and the next he's asking Kakashi what chakra is. It's ridiculous.Naruto is weird because in Part 2 he actually does show tactics. The issue is that “smart” characters in setting force everyone to act retarded. 4chan did a re-read during the start of Covid and Naruto is mostly fine until he has a panic attack (which is kind of fine in context, but weird for a shonen manga). Sasuke suffers from Itachi literally being washed clean of everything. You could have him be loyal to the Third, but extremely asshurt that he got used by Danzo and it’d make the series a lot better. A lot of the 4chan criticisms of those threads were actually pretty good. It made you like Madara for being a madman.
Naruto outthinks opponents regularly. He did this with Deidara, the Pein fight, and even against Itachi (who basically gets plot armor).Naruto has situational intelligence. One minute, he's 4D chessing Zabuza's pea brain and the next he's asking Kakashi what chakra is. It's ridiculous.
Danzo did nothing wrong, period. Neither did Itachi. The Uchiha were acting like fucking niggers.
I remember uncontrollably laughing when it was first revealed that the Sharingan was just ninja brain damage. It's really:

There's not really much of a reason not to like Madara. He had a point, until the whole global fake reality thing. He didn't really need much else to make you think he's a villain. He was a decent enough villain, the only criminal thing was we didn't get enough of him.A lot of the 4chan criticisms of those threads were actually pretty good. You are right about it being "bolt," but it isn't referring to his gramps. IIRC, Boruto's name is a tribute to his late-uncle's (Neji's) name, which means "screw," tightening (heh) well with the "bolt." Look at design choice in the Boruto anime's heading to see them really hammering that nailAnd ya know, an entire village including Super Genius Shikamaru doesn't bother to question why Naruto named his son "Kawaki" but named some foster kid "Boruto" as in Bolt...after the Yellow Flash.
That's one of my biggest complaints actually. Despite being are setting and the schism between its founders being so important to the story we have very little idea how Konoha works from a practical point.Naruto outthinks opponents regularly. He did this with Deidara, the Pein fight, and even against Itachi (who basically gets plot armor).
I feel like you could make Danzo better if it was a three way power struggle. You have those two fucks old fucks who basically stay in power the entire time. It’d be a better series if the Third basically had little actual power and basically was forced to be a pussy due to fatigue in the role and trying to oppose more organized political opponents.
It’s what makes the setting frustrating. There are hints dropped here and there. During the exposition dump when the Hokages were brought back Tobirama (he’s racist. Based) basically organized it like a General during the 18th and 19th Century. The role divests power to secretaries under them. That's one of my biggest complaints actually. The initial impression from the start us that the Hokage is the champion and defender that's why he's suppose to be the greatest ninja. What we see though is the Hokage just sitting around doing paperwork, which makes no sense to stick your toughest guy in an admin role. Then you add Danzo, the elders, and the various clans in the village but there's also like a feudal lord who runs the area outside of the village. I get it's a Shonen battle anime not a political thriller but we really have no idea how the setting works or what the stakes and agendas are.
To me it always sounded like they were mercenary armies for these Feudal Lords who were always feuding. I always got the impression Tobirama didn't exactly know what he was doing and was very out of his element with planning and mapping out all of this stuff. That's why Hashirama always seemed so much competent compared to everyone else, because he was the ideas guy and was very much the driving force behind it. You can't explain Tobirama for wanting to understand why the Uchiha were the way they were and what the Sharingan actually was.During the exposition dump when the Hokages were brought back Tobirama (he’s racist. The Pokemon version of this will never not be hilarious. Also, 9 pages of sperging and not a single mention of the most memorable piece of media ever created because of this series:
People defend them like they were niggers too.The Uchiha were the literal niggers of the Naruto universe.
Unlike any panel in Ikemoto's Boruto, this is a work of art.People defend them like they were niggers too.
>They dindu nuffin!
>They were forced into positions of power only they of all clans occupied, maaaan!
>Given their own spaces away from the village after they started getting shit for rightfully being suspected behind The Nine-Tails' Attack (WHICH ACTUALLY WAS A FUCKING UCHIHA, MIND YOU)??? Discrimination!
>Killing them when damn near all their important leaders, in spite of everything they were given, conspired against the reigning government was uncalled for!
Which all leads up to my favorite
>Trying to end the world was totally justified
>Sasuke, a 16-18 year old going through a massive mental breakdown after realizing how much his clan was comprised of niggers, would totally bring about a golden age as an immortal dictator with nothing to temper him
It was Naruto's thing too in part 1. One of the main plot points was Naruto getting tired of people calling him a failure all the time and him taking it upon himself to prove them wrong. Say what you want, but they at least tried to make him feel like a genuine underdog. Shippuden dropped it for the most part and became more about him uh... having lots of friends and valuing them? Yeah something like that. Not really? That was Lee's thing.
If you hate flashbacks then you might as well skip Naruto the series. Because practically every single battle is filled with a history lesson or personal biography on a dozen different people. The first fights with Zabuza, the first real fights in the series, are basically interrupted so that they can talk to each other about village histories. Or they stop fighting to basically break the fourth wall and tell the audience about their strategies and explain the reason for every single move that they made in combat.Does anyone else skip the flashbacks?
Yeah but I feel it really goes into overdrive during late shippuden, around the war arc. Before, at least you could say that they tried to meld the flashbacks into the fights, which is why I put up with them for so long. When the war arc starts though, it's like one flashback after another after another, often spanning entire episodes. Like for pete's sake I don't wanna watch an episode long autobiography of every single character. If you hate flashbacks then you might as well skip Naruto the series. The flashbacks are also because the series was not really planned out and they just winged it as they wrote it. And they also wanted the story to be really easy for the readers to follow. So rather than have the audience need to remember anything from a previous chapter. They can just remind you of the important details through flashbacks and memories so you can read the series in order without having to think about anything.
Absolutely nothing. She's not even a background character, she's just a background. If you think her role in Shippuden was non-existent, wait till Boruto where she literally does nothing. She has fewer lines than she's ever had in Shippuden. I can only recall her speaking maybe once. She's IN scenes, but literally doesn't say anything. It's almost weird. Like she's not a part of the conversations taking place right in front of her. What becomes of a milf Hinata? That would be my only reason to pick up the series.
