Hello, I'm retarded and braindead and have nothing to my name. Trying to set matrix.kiwifarms.net doesn't work at all. How do I contact the almighty crunklord?
 
Niggas literally starting up new chatrooms because I wont give them mod or whatever lmao. Don't blame me when your gay clique rooms turn into drama fests.

It's still online, however IHazUrInternet is invite only so you won't be able to join from things like room invites. You should be able to put put #LibreKiwi:ihazurinter.net into your client's "join room" area. If you don't have an account yet, I'd recommend matrix.thisisjoes.site

Is it possible to join these rooms even though the server's down? I tried putting #general:matrix.kiwifarms.net in search and nothing came up. I'm a Matrix virgin and don't know how it works.

Invite-only, but don't bother the rooms are dead because the plebians revolted against me when I kept clearing the ban list. The Anarcho-Monarchy has fallen and been replaced by the Free Republic. Well, except the TempleOS room, that's alive and bridged.

*GNU/Linux, and probably yes, but you need to be able to run the basic UNIX stuff because windoze is literally defective as a desktop OS, and completely useless as a server OS.
you need to get postgreSQL running (sqlite could also do the trick if your server stays REALLY small, but you will suffer if you join more than 5 rooms), and obviously you will need the basic web server stuff like nginx, ports 443 and 80 forwarded, having a domain pointing to your (ideally static) IP address, getting certs for SSL (letsencrypt aka certbot will do that for you), and knowing how to use a computer
after you got all that set up, you need to get p*thon cancer running and install matrix-synapse (or whatever alternative meme server implementation you want to use, believe it or not, but soynapse actually performs pretty well compared to the other non-python implementations because all the python scripts do is calling libraries that are written in C/C++)
configure all that crap and you should be good to go, just ensure to make backups and if you want to, fuck around with your db later (tune it, vacuum it, keep it clean and optimized)

in other words, you will need GNU/Linux or any other UNIX-like OS (a sane one, so ideally not macOS) in one form or another, be it natively on a dedicated server, running in a container, in a vm, or on some vps.
maybe stop being a massive faggot and install a functional operating system if you actually want to get work done, or stop complaining about your silly toy not being good for anything.
i already mentioned it before, but p*thon is absolute cancer. the least cancerous way to deal with it is to simply install the latest rolling release/'testing' (but not nightly/unstable) version of everything python related with your native package manager, be it portage, pacman, dnf, or whatever you are using.

I do have a Ubuntu laptop for software dev and I do dislike python (more for syntax than dependency hell or whatever tho) but unfortunately I have what I have and am not going to wipe a computer or buy a new one when technically Discord still works fine for my friend group.

I feel like if Matrix is going to be widely adapted they need to consneed to the average (Windows) user and make it easy for them to throw up a little server for their friends.

I do have the Element client and have been on the KF server before and that all works well enough, still kinda weird that calling is handled through a separate app tho and there's no persistent vc rooms.

you can rent some VPS or use any laptop you have floating around and don't need so you can host a server on that
a ton of people who host at home just take old laptops and turn off the screen while they run to use them as servers
also yes the python syntax is also cancerous, the least shitty syntax of any language i have seen so far has to be C.
der cord is literal malware and it's only a matter of time until it doesn't "work fine" for you anymore because you start to get seriously pissed off by all the cancer it has
i think those images can speak for themselves.
also just use some server hosted by one of your friends if you can't or don't want to self host, public servers mostly suck sadly.

it's possible and in fact pretty easy, just tell your normie "friends" to install that other "app" and make some account on a random public homeserver (or give them one on yours).
i successfully converted over 50 people from proprietard platforms such as pisscord or telegram into matrix freetards, and the funniest thing is that i didn't even have to use any of those directly because bridges exist.
a good friend wouldn't let his friends use proprietary shitware, and a true friend would follow his friend to a freedom respecting chat protocol/platform/whatever if asked to. if your so called 'friends' aren't even willing to spend 5 minutes to figure out how matrix works, are they really your friends, and how much time are you worth to them?
