Public opinion and Media on the war is turning negative. I don't know if it'll be better or worse if they were to continue the war through the elections but both options will be deeply unpopular. They will be under pressure to end the war on their terms, only for that to not be possible

The problem is that there isn't really any good mechanism for a peace deal. Everyone who would want to do one will just get fired or purged. Zelensky and a lot of the people in his faction can also just run away to Canada if Ukraine dies. It would takes an extremely large amount of popular support from Ukrainians to force a peace deal. Very unlikely that things end in a negotiated settlement. One side is going to dictate terms on the other, both sides have made that clear.
I think they will absolutely try but Ukraine is having issues and I don't know if Ukraine can last another 9 months with the way things are going.
Ukraine is enough of a small thing that it won't matter election unless something big happens which makes it matter. Israel is a way bigger deal to the election.
I think this is true. I also think Slav especially don't like to surrender and they have a Mentality that often means they don't like to surrender even if it makes sense to do so. That being said armies have their limits and soldiers won't fight a losing war forever. There does seem to be more Ukrainian prisoners recently too. Blocking detachments can stop a small percentage but once a critical mass is hit then it doesn't matter. Also officers are key too, once the officers start thinking this war is unwinnable they will surrender as well.
I never really said there would be a peace deal. In two months Ukraine will start demanding that Russia agrees to their terms. That will continue for four months with them demanding and putting "pressure" on Russia to agree with their unrealistic terms, after which they will start screaming with infighting about how much to relent on their terms. Then two months after that they may seriously start considering that their terms are unrealistic and that they aren't in a position to do anything but accept Russia's terms.
Biden did pull out of Afghanistan ahead of schedule to pull a political win, I wouldn't put it past them to try to end the Ukraine because that embarrassment will be rubbed in their faces for the entire duration of election campaigning.
