Sony hate thread

What's the point of even releasing a "remake" to a nearly 30 year old game past when most people don't even care about it? Any remake of FF7 should have come out during the PS3 era at the latest (with a bit of wiggle room during the early PS4 era). I don't even get why Squeenix bothered with the FF13 games. No one really liked them and other than the black dude with a chocobo in his hair, all the characters are annoying in their own ways (but that might be just FF characters in general).

Typos.
I still believe that a FF7 remake could have made gangbusters just by being an ff7 remake. The game is loved because of it's story, side stuff and details meanwhile most of it's actual core mechanics are flawed, fiddly, or unbalanced. Rework the characters stats and movesets, give us a few thematic bonus dungeons and give everything a hd skin and you have a good game my dude

Instead they left nomura on the swingset unsupervised

I'm not so sure it would have made gangbusters considering the time it has taken them to essentially make disc 1 of the game and how much copies of the "remake" they sold. It probably would have turned a profit sure, but I doubt it would have been as much as Square Enix hoped it would.

I get the feeling the executives at Square pressured the development team to "remake" the series in the way they have specifically just to squeeze every dime they can from new and old fans.

Sony just keeps losing

I swear by their MP3 player. Simple interface, great battery life, good storage.
For curiosity sake, I bought one of these...

And yea it's pretty neat. Could do without the FM Radio, but these days almost every MP3 player has one, so it's one of those "pick and choose your battles" situations. Only downside is that it's REALLY anal about what kind of picture it accepts for album art. It will ONLY accept Baseline JPEG rather than progressive JPEG (the difference being how they are rendered),

For whatever reason, GIMP doesn't have a setting for baseline JPEG and automatically saved them as progressive, so I have to use a checker and a converter to get the pictures to show up oroperly on the MP3 player.

Imagine having the fucking cheek to call a game a remake, and then niggercattling the core combat mechanics.

It would be like turning Forza 1 into an FPS platformer.

I had one of those for a while, for the price point it was pretty good. Got a iBasso DX170 now, which is far better audio wise, but do miss the UI and something not running the bloated android which just wastes battery life for me.

Lot of those issues aren't Sony only ones, it's a industry wide. It's really sad the current state of major games. Games taking 5 years plus and costing $200+ is just not viable in the long run, and is a bubble ready to burst.

How are you including the album art? I embed it in mp3 file metadata using MP3Tag and never had a problem with them showing up on my walkman. I'm sure some of what I downloaded are progressive JPEGs since they are ubiquitous online (they are an old web perf best practice), maybe MP3Tag is converting things for me.

bit to note
Also, we’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5. We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.

They should have done that from the start, VR is niche and tying it down to just PS5 rather than making PSVR2 it's own platform was a awful idea. Not sure if it's too late, now the big marketing push has came and went.

I have that (black) and I love it. I will stand by their MP3 players forever.

You do not need executive influence to explain terrible overwrought decisions being made when nomura is at the helm. Have you seen the shit he's done to Kingdom hearts, my guy

I have seen that, and I still think the executives had a hand in that for not only enabling Nomura in general, but in pressing him to keep making more games. Say what you want about Nomura, but there's only so much he probably could have done with those games before they started to get really really stupid. If Kingdom Hearts 2 was the final game, I doubt most people would complain about the series overall being convoluted.

Sony should have pushed VR2 harder and supported it more with a killer-app, preferably a very popular multiplayer game like, oh i don't know, Destiny?
They had a chance to corner the VR market and blew it, because they're fucktards.

I agree with you though, they should just release the thing on PC and have done with any notion of an idea of Playstation as a unique platform.

Sony and MS should go multiplatform software, exit the hardware side of the console industry and let two new players join in.

Isn't the problem moreso that you need a half dozen consoles, at least before the collections, to get the full story? I'll grant that I only played the first couple, but the story seemed simple enough to follow. Of course if you're a Sony pony or Nintendo baby and only play half of the games you're not going to be able to follow shit.

Sort of, although a lot of the non-numbered games except Birth By Sleep (on the Vita) added very little to the overall story.

Yeah, the AVGN of all people did a video about it.

Boy oh boy, am I glad I never cared about that series. What an annoying and stupid thing to follow.

Imagine trying to explain to people in 2002 that this amount of homework would someday be required to even begin to understand the plot of that wacky new game starring Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Cloud, and an animu boy with a giant key.
