Only if they don't obliterate Lady Maria, or really do anything to the original game other than simply port it over. I love white-haired waifus like her and Edelgard.
I hope you're looking forward to a Blackrock approved™, Artstation-sloppa, BluePoint remake that will be heralded as the second coming of Christ by the slack-jawed idiot masses, because that is the only scenario wherein PlayStation will put Bloodborne on PC.

Snoy on suicide watch as the death knell that they were (rightfully) mocking Xtards for comes for them next.

Their are snoytards on their Farms knockoff forums unironically making up conspiracy theories that this must be "corporate sabotage" from Microcuck, I shit you not.

- Terrible game optimization.
- Incomplete and buggy releases.
- Massive install file sizes.
- Same $80 price tag, no physical media.
- Horrendous visual artifacts due to mandatory AI upscaling just to hit playable frame rates.
- Forced Raytracing on some titles.
- Sub-optimal pricing and availability of components,
But enough about the Playstation 5

Sony has decided that enough is enough and just tightened the leash around Bungie's neck. They'll loose all independence and will be folded into PlayStation Studios:

Sony Confirms Bungie Is Becoming Part of PlayStation Studios: “This Independence Is Getting Lighter”

Sony has confirmed Bungie is slowly being folded into PlayStation Studios, two years after the $3.6 billion acquisition.

Two years after Sony acquired Bungie in a $3.6 billion deal, the Destiny 2 developer is slowly losing the independence it was originally promised. The deal, which closed in mid-2022, was supposed to let Bungie operate as an independent subsidiary under Sony’s umbrella. But after missed revenue targets, internal struggles, and multiple rounds of layoffs, Bungie’s role within the PlayStation ecosystem is changing, dramatically.

Over the past year and a half, several key departments at Bungie have been moved under Sony. This includes teams handling marketing, publishing, HR, legal, IT, production, and most recently, strategic partnerships.
Even Bungie’s Creative Studios and leadership figures like former CTO Luis Villegas have transitioned into senior roles at PlayStation.

Sony Now Says Bungie Is “Becoming Part of PlayStation Studios”

The latest update comes straight from Sony itself. During the company’s Q1 FY2025 earnings call earlier today, newly appointed Chief Financial Officer Lin Tao addressed Bungie’s status, and confirmed that its autonomy is slowly fading.

“About the governance of Bungie, at the time of acquisition, we were offering a very independent environment, so that was one way of thinking,” Tao explained.

“However, we have gone through structural reform, as we announced last year, so this independence is getting lighter, and Bungie is shifting into a role which is becoming more part of PlayStation Studios, and integration is proceeding. In the long term, you can see this as an ongoing process. So the direction is to become part of PlayStation Studios.”
In simple terms, that means Bungie isn’t operating fully on its own anymore. Bit by bit, the studio is being folded into the larger PlayStation organization, just like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio, or Guerrilla. While no specific timeline was given, Sony clearly sees Bungie as part of its long-term plans for first-party development, especially around live-service projects.

Bungie has had a rough stretch recently. Reports suggest the studio had around 1,600 employees before its October 2023 and July 2024 layoffs. After two major rounds of cuts and transitions into Sony, it’s believed that only about 850 employees remain.

In related news, Destiny 2’s latest expansion, The Edge of Fate’s pre-orders are reportedly down nearly 50% compared to The Final Shape. This follows a continued drop in player engagement and interest, adding further pressure on Bungie as it works through internal restructuring and full integration into PlayStation Studios.

My two cents: Sony bought that studio for $3.6 Billion and have gotten nothing from them worth that expense. Bungie is to Sony what Rareware was to Microsoft: A studio that was hollowed out of its original talent and replaced by people unable to fill those big shoes. Worse, the Marathon plagiarism fiasco showed to the gaming audience how creatively bankrupt and scummy are the people left working at the studio.

The "Bungie" brand is damaged goods, I fully expect the name to be dropped and whatever is left of be renamed. They'll be tasked as an auxiliary studio to do menial tasks like battle pass content for whatever other live service game Sony will decide to launch in the future. At this point I don't think Marathon is going to even see a release, it is going to be cancelled.

I still can't wrap my head around spending billions to acquire an aging studio, learning (probably immediately) they weren't really doing very much, then waiting two fucking years to bother doing anything to stop the bleeding. How do you spend that kind of money and not make the simplest of sanity checks to make sure it's not just being pissed away?

I'm fuckin howling. How do retarded publishers keep falling for Bungies bullshit, and how does Bungie keep falling for their own bullshit? They've done this what, 5 times now? They massively fuck themselves while independent (Myth 2 bug, Destiny 2), they get a publisher to save their ass (Microsoft, Activision, Sony) while promising independence, then they massively fuck up (Halo 2 dev cycle, Destiny dev cycle, Marathon dev cycle) causing the publisher to tighten the leash. I look forward to them becoming independent again after Marathon flops and celebrating how they're "free" again.

Sony announced the acquisition of Bungie on January 31st, 2022.

Just two weeks after Microsoft announced the acquisition of ActivisionBlizzard on January 18th, 2022. What a coincidence huh.
IT was literally just done to spite their competitor. Well, I guess they never thought that maybe there is a reason nobody wanted Bungie around.

I can understand it somewhat, tbh. They might have thought that this once legendary studio just needed some guidance and they would be back on their feet. The fact that everyone worth a damn had left must have crossed their mind but (nearly) every company was on an acquisition spree at the time.

Microsoft killed Rareware, cancelling Conker 2 and putting them on stupid projects. Sony just bought a worthless random studio for way too much.

All this talk of bungie reminds me of one of the clearest examples of how weird sony is about cooking the books for playstation division. Literally anyone with eyes can see that bungie was a playstation acquisition, every cent of destiny 2 revenue they still brought in was listed as playstation revenue, they're consulting for playstation studios, making a playstation first party game...
And that disastrous $3.6 billion was very intentionally kept out of playstation division's expenses. This happens all the time by the way, they'll shift obviously playstation-related manufacturing and distribution costs to other divisions, I remember clearly they once got called out by their investors (I think it was during the ps3 generation, but don't quote me) for essentially trying to claim that every dollar of revenue they got from selling the console was 100% pure profit. It was definitely far worse under Kaz Hirai's leadership given just how absurd the lengths he would often go to in order to shield playstation division were, but the rot is still there.

If you look at the chronology of the company you'll see that two internal teams of developers left the company around 1999-2000, one of those teams went on to create Free Radical of TimeSplitters fame. There was yet another exodus around the transitional period between the Nintendo 64 and the Gamecube. One of the reasons of this last departure being Nintendo not granting additional funds for development despite the obvious cost increase of developing for the Gamecube hardware..

By the time Microsoft got its hands on Rare in 2002 the company had been gutted of their most talented developers and it was patent in the lowered quality of the games that followed. ( Grabbed by The Ghoulies, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero ) Microsoft cancelled Conquer 2 because Live and Reloaded was a commercial failure, it sold around 700k worldwide and if you go a bit further back you could say Nintendo handicapped the franchise out of the gate because they refused to promote Conker's Bad Fur Day due to its mature oriented humor. The game sold 55k copies on N64.

If you want to blame someone for killing Rare, blame Nintendo; they went so far as to meddle with one of Rare's original IPs: Dinosaur Planet, Miyamoto demanded the game be turned into a Star Fox branded title for the Gamecube's launch which made absolutely no sense since it was a Zelda-like third person action adventure game which was deep in development for the N64.

Rare had to scrap their work and start over just to shoe horn Star Fox into a title that bared no game play resemblance to that series, The end result was a confused mess of concepts trying to reconcile a pastiche of ideas that did not belong in the original design, the game's reception was lukewarm at best.

To add insult to injury, when Microsoft bought them Nintendo kept the rights for Dinosaur Planet because of the inclusion of the Star Fox IP. So unlike Conker or Banjo, Rare couldn't do a follow up or remake of Dinosaur Planet despite originally being theirs.

Microsoft might have driven the last nail, but Rare was already lying inside the coffin,

Did they still have whoever worked on Star Fox Adventures? Because that's an excellent game. Although we didn't see much, Donkey Kong Racing had potential. It looked like they still had enough talent to make good games.

I don't remember where I read it so correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason (or at least part of it) was actually because they didn't want to make an offense game, which is why they censored the remake to begin with.

That's pretty normal though, Nintendo gets to call the shots if they're paying the bills. I believe something similar happened to Diddy Kong Racing.

No, it sold and reviewed well. There were some vocal Star Fox fans (and some Dinosaur Planet fans) who were upset that it wasn't a real Star Fox game/that Dinosaur Planet was "ruined", but it was good for what it was.

Including the scrapped concepts like the character Sabre and the title Dinosaur Planet? If so that's odd but very interesting, but also kinda disappointing because it'd have been cool to see Rare be able to do something with the IP (not that Microsoft would've let them, or at best it'd be a Kinect game).

Microsoft might have driven the last nail, but Rare was already lying inside the coffin,
It does sound like Nintendo wasn't doing right by such a talented studio, what with not giving them enough funding and not publishing Conker and such, but I think more blame lies with Microsoft. They could've at least utilized their IPs better.
