What people need to understand is that they’re already burned out by the time they officially become a doctor. They sacrifice relationships and hobbies for medical school in exchange for a possible lifetime of debt, because for most specialties, much of that fat check doctors are so famed for goes towards repayment. And of course, school itself is insanely difficult, to the point that some people go insane from it despite having been qualified to enter initially.

Then in residency, they work 24-42 hour shifts under the control of dictator attendings and completely retarded hospital administration while also experiencing the shock of how insane, stupid, and entitled real patients actually are.

So, by the time they’ve become a real doctor, they’ve developed a cynical, hard shell. I’ve seen it said multiple times that you’re going to need to find a deeper motivation than “helping people” as early as med school in order to keep yourself going.

None of this is to say that mutilating the genitals of the mentally ill and coomers is in any way ethical or justifiable. And of course, plastic surgery attracts the kind of people who are truly money hungry and clout chasing above all else. What I’m saying is that I can understand how people who might’ve been decent beforehand can end up this way.

10.5 week post PIV Vaginoplasty.

10.5 weeks post op. Still 100% numb everywhere. No sensitivity in my clitoris at all. Depth is 8cm. Still peeing all over the place. Dilation is still painful and not super easy. PL: I work in a NHS Scotland trust, in a general out patient dept, and the breast consultants still examine women classically, by palpating (female consultants) .

This is old, sorry, but they keep trying to push back initial mammogram dates here in US from 40 to 50 because studies show that they are finding calcifications called DCIS, which are not cancerous, which may have gone away on their own, and should just be watched. However, women are commonly getting double mastectomies for this condition, which is certainly over-treatment.

The acronym stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, and there was some talk about changing the name as it is not cancer, and may not even be a marker for cancer. Activists keep insisting mammograms be done early, and that’s when unfelt DCIS is discovered. If “cure” rates go up it’s because they are counting something that would never have been a problem as part of a cure.

(That said, better drugs and newer antibodies ARE raising cure rates but it is nothing to do with early detection.)

It seems that most women with actual cancer will find a lump before a mammogram finds disease. This early screening can cause a lot of harm.
