Odysseus becomes first US spacecraft to land on moon in over 50 years

Odysseus is heading for a landing site near Malapert A, an impact crater near the moon's south pole.
NASA describes it like this:
"(A) relatively flat and safe region is within the heavily cratered southern highlands on the side of the Moon visible from Earth."
The space agency said it chose this landing site for Intuitive Machines' first mission because it wanted to learn more about the lunar environment and how communications function in this area.
And there's a key reason why: NASA wants to scout the lunar south pole because the space agency believes it's the best location to set up a future astronaut base.

The US-made Odysseus lunar lander has made a touchdown on the moon, surpassing its final key milestones — and the odds — to become the first commercial spacecraft to accomplish such a feat, but the condition of the lander remains in question.

Intuitive Machines, however, says the mission has been successful.

"I know this was a nail-biter, but we are on the surface, and we are transmitting," Intuitive Machines CEO Steve Altemus just announced on the webcast. "Welcome to the moon."

Odysseus is the first vehicle launched from the United States to land on the moon’s surface since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.

Mission controllers from Intuitive Machines, the Houston-based company that developed the robotic explorer, confirmed the lander reached the lunar surface Thursday evening.

The uncrewed spacecraft traveled hundreds of thousands of miles from its Florida launch site at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center to the moon before making its final, perilous swoop to the lunar surface.

No amount of argument can change the mind of a guy who has decided that radio waves don't work in space. He didn't come to that belief by rational means, he believes it because he's a retarded contrarian.
I really wonder if it's trolling or if they're like Terrence Howard and think thousands of years of proven science and math is wrong because 1*1=2.

um...an antenna pointing up does not mean its in space...
This one's so dumb he thinks he's posting on an internet messageboard, instead of a number of AI instances used to monitor his antipsychotic medication.
Once he says radio waves are not directional, you know he's skipping.
Sadly, I don't think that arguing with the moon hoaxers and conspiracy theorists does much good.
I do, in fact, agree. Buzz Aldrin needs to punch more of them.

stay on topic, slave

buzz aldrin already admitted the landing was fake

His mental understanding of radio waves is that they travel in a straight line forever from the point of origin which is absurdly comical. I'd be interested to understand how he thinks something like light works.

cool strawman, please try to stay on topic

@Otoya Yamaguchi

Let's do a very simple experiment. You (unfortunately) have Internet access which allows you to post on this site. Likely in your home there is a Internet router which you connect your computer or phone to.

Why is it that when you open up the "WiFi" settings on your device, you don't see every person on earth's network? Why is it that when you leave your house you lose connection to your home's router?

i came to the conclusion because the claim has never been proven, and the people who say it has are proven liars

why are you trying to change the subject. the thing reciving the wi-fi signal is close to the thing transmitting it. that has nothing to do with radio towers on the moon

You're overestimating him. He does not understand radio travels in a straight line, or he would understand a directional antenna pointing up must be getting signals from space.

but there are no signals in space

radio waves travelling ina straigh tline proves my point

Ok. And why does this have to be the case?
because thats how physics works
How do you think something like satellite TV works?
a signal comes from earth and is picked up by something on earth...how do you think it works? theres transmitters towers on the moon?

I will never fail to be impressed by how severe conspiracy theorists' face blindness is.
On top of that it relies it upon the fact the Feds... never gave their supposedly dead people fake names and identities, and let them run around using their "dead" names for decades.
The Soviet lead in the space race was based entirely on the excellent R-7 rocket, still in use today. Saturn could carry more payload and Gemini was far superior to any Soviet spacecraft until Soyuz. The only operational booster the Soviets / Russians ever had able to lift a moon lander was Energia, cancelled because most of it was built in Ukraine.
Yeah, and their prior attempt to Energia was typical Soviet engineering. They couldn't make engines the size of the ones the Saturn V used with the necessary reliability and power-to-weight ratio, so they decided to grab thirty smaller engines. Naturally, corners were cut in an attempt to rush the N1 into service and there was never a static test fire on the engine arrangement to make sure things would actually work. As you can probably imagine, there were... issues getting thirty engines and all of their support systems to function, and every single N1 wound up destroying itself almost immediately after launch.

People really underestimate how fucked the USSR was on the fabrication side of things.

theres no such thing as "Space radio"

antenna pick up transmissions from transmitters on earth
Are you saying satellites that are in space, such as Starlink, are fake? They aren't just mirrors, they receive radio and re-transmit it. They also communicate with each other with lasers, which is the same photon general idea except at higher frequency than what most call 'radio'.

they arent in space or on the moon
