Nick gives off vibes that he would rather die than admit to anybody that he has a problem. He'd probably say something really stupid like "oh my family begging me to go to rehab makes me NOT want to do it because I think it's funny to see them like this!"
Well we now have firm confirmation he gets off on other people's suffering if they deign to offend his sensibilities. But remember, it's just the alcohol. The alcohol is like every other thing he does, yet another tool he uses to help conceal his not so well-concealed inner rage to a naive audience.
Does he not realize if he attracts this kind of sensitive energy, that he himself may be putting out those same sick sad vibes. In a way, he's possibly admitted during his John rant that his ample access to money helps him to avoid the same fate to the worst of his own demons. Because his family still accepts him regardless, it means
he is not a failure surely? He can live with those demons as long as he 1) has money 2) has family... I'm sure there's other things he's accidentally eluding to in his rant.
Edit: Worth noting, Nick is projecting what appears to be how he would describe his own rock bottom. There are people of modest means who can weather some rather major storms and don't succumb to their own inner turmoil just because their social status isn't being dignified by the rest of society. They're not special, though. This is just a result of having good character. Something that Nick apparently has no concept of, as he spits on others who are in a bad way, not realizing what that says about his own self-sufficiency and apparently immensely negative worldview. If he actually thinks money and family can keep him from suffering his worst, then that would explain why he will keep doubling down. (By the way, this isn't true. Money can enable harm. And well, so can many families if you allow it.)
Anyway, He
obviously doesn't get any sort of pseudo-emotional support or 2-way validation from his online audience. Nah, he's "just a streamer". Definitely not forming toxic relationships with fans to help cover for any of his own deficiencies or depressions. If only there was a show hosted by Chris Hansen for catching online predatory narcissists in the act. Slinking around trying to "console" the Mandys and the Johns of the world with his funny words. Nick, saving marriages by DM. Forming important connections with other industry voices via shower text. Helping fans cure their dog's cancer with boozy platitudes delivered over a premium chat.
