Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

with many news sources parroting the allegations that Russians are dying in droves in a zerg rush, is it possible that's a conspiracy that Russia "leaked" to news sources so that America stays convinced that they can win a battle of attrition and don't need Nato to directly intervene?
Lol, no. The truth is far more banal: the media are lying liars who lie. That's all.

Yeah, this. There's no planned disinformation campaign with fake leaks from Russian sources. The White House tells the various news organizations the party line and they either rephrase it in their own words with "insider sources" or they just repeat what they're told to say verbatim.

Western media has become, funnily enough, everything the west accused Pravda of being back in the 70's.

I wonder how Russians feel about it. It's got to be creepy as it's something their parents and grandparents experienced, and it's horrifying to see how a country willingly destroys itself for its lies. I'd imagine that it makes Russians very committed to ensuring that their media organizations are either honest or completely ignored.

Keep in mind tho that the british were desperate in the early years, and quickly designed and built their tanks w/o adequate testing. Going into the war, the matilda II was perfectly good tank, and by the end of the war the british had excellent tanks like the comet
Comet? Lolwut. Still showing the Brits had zero clue about tank protection geometry.

Compare to say the T-44 that was lighter, faster, and had a front plate immune to the long 88.

Unconfirmed reports say Russian intelligence located him when he invited a former girlfriend to visit. The killers’ swift getaway and the lack of witnesses suggest professional surveillance and planning for what would be the first Russian state killing in Spain.

From the wiki entry on the incident

Accompanying Kuzminov were an onboard technician and a navigator, who were not aware of his plan to defect.[1][9] Kuzminov later explained that although the crew began to get nervous and behave aggressively, they could not stop him, since Kuzminov was the only one who knew how to fly and land the helicopter. Kuzminov tried unsuccessfully to convince them to surrender.[10]

After landing in Ukrainian-held territory, both of the other crew members tried to escape, but were spotted and killed by Ukrainian soldiers

He wasn't just a traitor, he defected for money and deliberately got his crewmates killed, men he must have been close to. Just an all around piece of shit.

Like Medvedev said: “A dog gets a dogs death”.

In other news from Ukraine, the people in the eastern parts of the country occupied by Russia suffer greatly.

New apartments, parks, playgrounds.
The state actually doing something for its citizens, instead of foreigners or people halfway around the world. A concept that’s almost forgotten in the west.

Someone asked about the pro Russian partisans, apparently they’re called Kovpac Detachment (Kovpak was a WW2 partisan general in Ukraine). Don’t know how much they do, and how much is done by SPETZNAS detachments deep behind Ukrainian lines, but I reckon that one thing they CAN do relatively easy, is to pass on information about troop movements and weapons to Russia.

The Russian Air Force and missile troops seem to have an uncanny ability to find these things.

Finally: Not strictly Ukraine stuff but a comedy bit from Italian TV below.

If you’re an American don’t worry, you’re not alone: The rest of the world also considers Biden a senile, bumbling fool.

Japs and Chinks fighting on the same side? What a delightfully wholesome newsstory, lol!

Maybe he means 31k have been killed so far in just 2024? That would at least be plausible.
When I was in Kiev in the summer, the cemeteries were so full, THAT THEY WERE PLANNING TO MOVE THE BODIES FROM AN OLD WW1 CEMETARY TO MAKE NEW FOR MORE DEAD.

At the same time they announced plans to build brand new record size cemeteries, since the existing were literally full.

This wasn’t Russian propaganda, it was in Ukrainian newspapers.

31.000 dead is such a hopelessly blatant lie.

Aaanyways, in other news:

Blood clot? Natural causes? I thought it was the KGB one punch heart bomb strike?!

Oh well, the Ukrainians must know what they’re talking about!

The British were perfectly aware of sloped armour. But British tank design was limited by the rather small gauge of the British railways. The tanks had to fit on a standard railcar and make it through a rail tunnel. Sloping armour reduced internal space, which reduces the size of the turret and thus the gun you can put on the the tank. They had to design boxier tanks if they wanted a bigger gun. Sloping armour also uses more steel and takes more resources to build. If man hours are at a premium, you cut out the sloping where you can. The UK did not have the immense population and resources of the USSR to draw on if they wanted to spam thier tanks.

Okay I will explain the mathematics behind this. When Zelensky states "31,000" Ukrainian soldiers killed in "Russia's war" he is specifically counting those he considers to be "desirable Ukrainians". This is to say, not the minorities/Russians that were conscripted. Rather, he is only specifically counting people who goosestep for NATO. If we account for the social undesirables, the actual figure is significantly higher.
