Five people in the Central Highlands' Dak Lak Province were arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl after a drinking party.
Nguyen Van Nghia and four of his friends, aged 14-24, were arrested by the police of Krong Pak District on Friday for "rape of a person under 16."

The group was hanging out at a coffee shop when they saw the girl sitting at a nearby table. Nghia got acquainted with her, then invited her to an acquaintance's house for a drinking party.

The party ended late at night, and Nghia and his friends rented a motel with the girl to sleep. Nghia and the girl stayed in the same room. Nghia then raped the girl, told his friends about the deed, and the friends proceeded to rape the girl as well.

The girl told her family about what happened the next day, and they reported the matter to the police.

A person accused of raping a person under 16 faces up to 17 years imprisonment, but life imprisonment and death will be considered in case of gang rape.

There's a difference between a dumb twelve year old wanting to have sex and an aggravated rape. Their punishments should be reflective of that fact. My assumption given they charged the fourteen year old is that it was or at some point became the aggravated kind.
