General note that this is not an individual response, but a general one. This was the first and most recent exemplar post I could find. Feel free to tell me I am off my rocker.

I appreciate the extra people in the thread and their opinions being added to the discourse. New perspectives are valuable and useful to validate or disprove positions and overcome mental inertia.

However, (admittedly, at least partly because of my own bias) I think that a lot of you are incorrect by trying to find some large trauma event in Nick's life that triggered a massive shift in personality. What some might see as unreasonable post facto reconstruction by former fans that 'the signs were always there', I would contend that simplicity and Occam's Razor dictate must be latent probabilities instead of nascent traits.

Money, power, fame, and success are amplifiers of the human psyche--but uneven ones like fun house mirros. Not to got too far down Dr. Kascinsky's garden path, in the fulfillment of basic natural needs, mankind seeks the satisfaction of unnatural ones. It is the struggle that to some extend keeps the daemons on the fringes of consciousness at bay. Once the focus of effort shifts inward rather than outward, reinforcement of what is already present occurs with short time for course correction. Unless one has already turned their mind inward in self-reflection and dealt with issues internally, the mirrors tend to amplify the worst (not best) aspects of character. Even the smallest flaw can be greatly magnified.

Nick's own confession that he has been repressed and held in check by others expectations and responsibilities tells on himself. He has thrown off the healthy moderating influences and given full rein to his desires. He is a creature twisted and distorted by success into a monster of his own creation.

TLDR: There is enough known about Kayla to make reasonable inferences on her degeneracy. Kayla exhibited shame by going into hiding, but she isn't sorry for anything she did (only that she got found out if anything). The only things she did over the past year was get less healthy-looking, yell at Nick about his Mandy lust, and then go to a swinger resort with Nick.

Kayla was a cheerleader. Cheerleaders build an entire self-image on male attention and having a cheering audience looking at them. They tend to struggle if they don’t go on to new endeavors, creating an identity besides cheerleader, after putting the pomspoms away.

Kayla married a trust fund brat and became the mom of five. It’s a pretty radical departure from the cute cheerleader days. It probably satisfied and consumed her for fifteen years, but now the kids are older, less needy, her husband spends all his time online and she’s wondering who she is besides “mom & wife” It’s not the young, perky cheerleader she was twenty years ago. The fact she’s hitting 40, and her husband wants to go to Hedonism, makes her worry about being desired or attractive. Women like Kayla tend to tie a big part of their self-worth into men finding them desirable. (I’ll classify any woman who pays to have “boudoir photos” taken and shares them online as someone very concerned with being sexually desirable or attractive.)

So after a decade of being a busy SAHM of five, her husband suddenly has a new identity as an “edgy” law streamer and e-fame. Nick now has a whole other life and identity apart from his wife and family, whereas Kayla does not. I think Kayla wholly supported this for years because it made Nick happy and gave him something to do and a big ego boost. But eventually it started making Kayla feel alienated from her husband. He was constantly spending all his time in this new world online, building his streaming career, getting wine moms fawning over him. Resentment started to build. Why does he get to play in his streaming room for hours everyday with fans while she gets the glamour of being a homeschool mom of five, now with far less interest or help from Nick? Hiring a nanny just gave her more time to stew on the state of affairs and feel lonely. She was interested in his new audience he had built, she’s a cheerleader after all, but I don’t think she really understood the world Nick was spending so much time in even though she tried.

At first it seemed there was room for her in this online world, Nick was more wholesome. His perky SAHM mom of five wife could be a part of it. But Nick wasn’t really interested in the more wholesome online sphere, he’s a Dick fan after all. He wanted an edgier, raunchier online persona. I also don’t think he wanted Kayla to be in it, other than as a token character. He wanted this online world as a playground for himself and his ego. Sharing it with the wife and kids had no appeal to him. He wanted a niche that was a boys drinking club, a bar crowd.

I think the glamour shots and going to weird swingers shit was her way of trying really hard to keep up and be a part of Nick’s new raunchier world/career, but it was doomed to failure. The world Nick covets requires a 24 year old e-thot that likes booze, coke and swinging. It’s not for a wife and mom of five. I think this is the major problem. He might haves convinced Kayla to lez out for his satisfaction, dip her toes in weird couples voyeurism and watch porn with him, but she wasn’t okay with him getting side pieces, cucking, prostitutes, etc… and that made Nick seethe. (I think he obviously did it anyway and that’s created major problems.)

I think Kayla went well beyond her comfort zone to please Nick, but it wasn’t enough for him. So she’s upset she got all slutty and did kinky stuff she didn’t want to do and it still didn’t satisfy Nick. I’m fact, it only made him want to take things further and get angrier when she did draw a line in the sand on some things. Now there is resentment from both sides. Kayla thinks things went to far and Nick thinks they didn’t go nearly far enough.

One thing I’ve wondered. It’s obvious that Nick is not religious, but is Kayla? The fact they send their kids to religious instruction and church activities make me think it must be important to her, otherwise it wouldn’t be happening. This would cause another disconnect between her and Nick. If Kayla has genuine moral and religious beliefs that conflict with Nick’s religious apathy? Her participation in some of his weird porn/kinky shit could come from believing it’s her duty to please her husband and be submissive. I don’t think she’s really into that shit, but she does want to feel attractive/desired, maybe wants Nick to feel jealous since he spends so much time lusting after porn and wine mom titty photos.

If she’s not religious this whole facade they put up is really gross and weird. Like they don’t actually believe in all this Christian stuff but we think a fake Christian facade is important to construct for social status and optic reasons? We will make sure it’s taught to our kids, not because we believe it, but so they can also present a socially advantageous false veneer to others too!

I get the feeling that Nick might have been a more dedicated or believing Christian once upon a time, but it became more and more inconvenient over the years to the lifestyle he was interested in pursuing. Easier to abandon a moral framework than continually fail to meet its standards.

But the doctors explanation sounds like the kind of story you’ll give a patient when he looks so terrible you suspect him of drug abuse. “Sorry Mr Rekieta, I know we haven’t done this before, but there are possible side effects, so we need to do some blood tests!”

As for the tests coming back and all being perfect? Bullshit. Tests like these are sent out to a lab and don’t come back the same day. Even if there is a lab in-house, like in a hospital, the results still wouldn’t be available in a few hours as Rekieta implies.

I think it was Perception Check who in DM’s he tried gas lighting and @elb was wished death upon her for clipping his worse showings. Would also like to bring up Our Wife’s Pinterest again as a data point. It might be one of the reasons why people ITT cut Kayla a break/cite Nick as the instigator of the degeneracy and not the other way around as the Faran leaks suggest. I think both are equally likely. Once they got their hands on money that didn’t have strings attached they both couldn’t wait to rebel.

It is possible that this is the reason why some people excuse Kayla, though it does them no favors in doing so. Imagine Kayla being confronted with her behavior, even just what was recorded here, and then saying "b-but... but my Pinterest board!" and people taking her seriously.

What we have in Kayla's Pinterest board is related to her meltdown. Kayla sees what is "good" in life, wants it, but wants too many other incompatible things to really accomplish it. This would make Kayla a failure in a moral sense, and her desire for goodness (or at least the appearance of it) interferes with her ability to truly enjoy her hedonism. Rather than make meaningful changes, Kayla's recourse seems to be escapism through substance use and media consumption like Star Trek between bouts of insecurity and self-indulgence.

Regarding Kayla's mini-meltdown: Kayla was expressing vulnerability over a very real concern. It wasn't baseless either as she has made some very unhealthy decisions in her life. She was in pain, and in some ways probably still is. Kayla has also exhibited concern over Nick's insincere relationship with God at one time after rewatching one of Nick's streams and calling him out on it, although by the time she tells the story Kayla has already declared herself a "B-I-T-C-H" for how she did it and is obviously okay with Nick's hypocrisy at that point anyway.
