Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Is Linus just the Tech version of Hoovie's Garage? Became rich due to a combination of nepotism and Youtube. Both had kids with an ugly Asian wife though in Hoovie's case she took half of all his shit including cars. Both have that skinny soy appearence and high pitched voice
Both with equally low quality content retards love.

No. Linus is definitively worse. He gets paid by manufacturers to shill a product and also shills his own overpriced merchandise at the same time. His target audience is also younger.

Hoovie is just a rich guy buying cars he likes (or as investment?) and makes money from the videos with adds/sponsors. He also doesn't claim to be expert in anything like Linus does.

Agreed. Hoovie just buys cars he likes as shitposts/investments/whatever and has mechanics he works with and doesn't claim her personally knows everything about cars(hell one of his mechanics has his own youtube channel). He's just the white version of Tavarish. They're probably both trust fund kids, but neither as as obnoxious as Linus and at least outwardly appear to be giving their real opinions on shit(as their income doesn't rely on shilling for every damned thing under the sun).

I'm honestly not even sure if I can think of a car equivalent of Linus. Even MKBHD who does EV related videos doesn't shill as hard as Linus does, and his channels are literally just about unboxing and selling product to viewers. I can think of an incredibly shitty mechanic channel that might be close though, Scotty Kilmer. He's a retired old fart, but even before he retired his knowledge was clearly a couple decades out of date, his opinions are utterly insane, will shill random garbage, constant clickbait to the point of clickbaiting that he's finally quitting his channel or even died on a couple occasions, gets called out by other mechanics on youtube for being full of shit.

edit: jfc I looked at Scotty Kilmer's channel and he's clickbaited his own death twice in the past week, seems to have a bullshit video about toyota's $10,000 truck that isn't going to be imported to the US anyway, at least 1 product shill video, 3 videos claiming manfacturing is leaving the US as if that hasn't been happening for decades, just on and on. This brand is great, now that same brand sucks, now that brand is great again, oh now this same brand is terrible. ancient secret techniques for this that and the other thing, how not to buy a car, how to buy a car, things to look for when buying a car,, put this in your new car, don't put this in your new car. He doesn't do soy face, but is boomer face a thing?

Hoovie is almost likeable, whereas only sub-100 IQ consoomer zoomers seem to genuinely enjoy Linus.

LTT is more like post-Clarkson Top Gear, only with computers and a McMansion as props instead of cars. Completely unwatchable and saddled with unwatchable hosts.

Hoovie still never had to work a real job though

Nah Doug Demuro is the Car version of Linus. Shills his cars and bids site every video and drives an extremely expensive Porsche which he doesn't need other than to stroke his own ego

Still both Linus and Hoovie had to get the Asian mail order bride wife in order to bring the mature adult LARP into fruition

I don't even watch Doug anymore because he's too flamboyant and irritates me but come on. Doug has a shtick and he sticks to it and other than shilling his website there's nothing intrinsically wrong with it. He doesn't have any lolcow employees that he mistreats as far as I'm aware. As for the Porsche I thought it was Linus who had a bullshit expensive McPorsche that was more of a liability for him than anything lol.

As for every single other product that Logitech offers, there's better alternatives from other brands. Keyboards? Keychron or any other custom mechanical keyboard company.
While I agree that Logitech's quality has been on a downturn in most product lines for years, Keychron, despite the praise, has problems. Got one of their bluetooth keyboards a while back, mechanical, and the thing has a problem even staying on for long and once the battery starts going out it can end up being finnicky to even reconnect to a computer. Got a slim logitech board, and the build quality even seems better in comparison. Plus keychron battery life is horrible versus theirs.

Hard disagree on that. Dude is annoying, but shilling his own website to buy cars... doesn't change that he just makes videos showing off cars. There's a huge difference between that and random companies constantly paying him to advertise crap. If LTT was only ever shilling his own shit, he wouldn't be as disliked as he is. Might as well also complain about vinwiki shilling vinwiki, donut for selling merch, Gamers Nexus shilling their own website, and so on. Doug Demuro does also get press cars, but so does every car channel with any amount of views that isn't purely about rebuilding cars.

Also, if you think Doug driving a porsche is an issue(and yes I'm aware that it's a very expensive porsche)... the guy has a ford GT for fucks sake, that he does randomly drive. He's also had an s-cargo, among plenty of other vehicles.

So as of 10 months ago, porsche carrera GT, a ford GT, a mercedes g wagon, a 90s land rover defender, a recent mercedes e450 wagon, a toyota land cruiser, and you think the porsche is the ridiculous vehicle? Come on... the only vehicle on that list I'd even consider practical as a daily in any sense is the e450. No one ever disputed that he's got money, but he doesn't "need" the other shit either. Fortunately he doesn't live in a country limited by "need" in that way.

I don't think they have any massive issues with the wired variants though, pretty much all the Keychron issues I've heard about are all about the wireless connection and battery life. Generally when I think of people looking for a mechanical keyboard, I'm assuming they're looking for something wired. Wireless mechanical keyboards don't make a lot of sense anyway, unless you strip them out of a lot of functionality that's expected from them.

My biggest gripe is the lack of full ANSI mechanical keyboards with hotswap, 1000Hz polling, NKRO and QMK. Keychron's offerings are the closest to that ideal, but even then they're not perfect, like the lack of standard status LED's, but then again there's not many other alternatives. Glorious went with some retarded 96% abomination and sell it as "full size" even though it fucking isn't.

If I can get this:

With this exact layout, those exact keycaps, those exact status LED's and those exact colors, but with the modern thin bezels, NKRO, 1000Hz polling, QMK, detachable USB-C cable and hot swap, please let me know, because absolutely no one in this expansive market makes this, and instead it's full of flashy colorful shit with asinine layouts that violate all rules of muscle memory sensibility. I just want a classic keyboard with modern tech under the hood, why is it so hard.

Doug has a 1.3 million dollar Porsche coupe that's ridiculous to me.

Doug made most of his money from selling his share of his car auction site for $37 million, not from YouTube.
Someone worth tens of millions can easily afford a $1 million car.

I bet Linus wishes he had taken the $100 million buyout offer for LTT, assuming that it actually existed and was a serious offer.

Yeah LMG is worthless it's just a clothing company without Youtube. I wish Youtubers would stop calling themselves businesses when they're just oversized Youtube contractors

Well there's 3 things to generally do with expensive cars:

1. Collect them in a museum regardless of value
2. Buy them for eventual re-sale as an investment
3. Enjoy them

Fact of the matter is, dude doesn't run a company needing to pay 100+ useless clowns as part of some halfassed media "empire" that's really just a content mill needing to crank out 10+ videos a week based on whatever some company is willing to pay him to shill that particular day. If you think driving a 1.5 million dollar car is strange, at least he seems to be having fun with it. Unlike say... all of the people who buy a Bugatti/Pagani/Koenigsegg/or any of the dozens of other cars that that never sees more than 500 miles a year and cost over a million just basically occupying space yet still need regular maintenance so they don't rot in place.

You would think it was Linus getting the 1.3 million dollar car with how much he consooms

Status lights will probably be the biggest hurdle, people are obsessed with muh clean look so they became really unpopular. I'd probably give up on this and use QMK to make numpad/caps lock light up when they are engaged. Or wait, i have a fancier idea, i'd set the whole numpad section to light up when pressing numpad, and letters for caps lock. Praise QMK.

He drove that shitbox civic that they spraypainted pink for years, if theres one thing I can excuse him using his wealth on, its upgrading his car.
There's upgrading then theres spending 1.29m more on a car than you need to. He got a midlife crisis mobile when a regular 40-80k car would be fine. But how would he flex on his viewers and neighbors with a normal car?
