There is, you can charge him for manslaughter easily and if the DA is pozzed enough, non-homicidal murder. We know enough about MamaJF to know she was probably diagnosed at some point with something. She's a protected class citizen. You can't touch a fucking hair on her head.

Guy abandoned his wife/GF/someone, they were later found dead.

No, I'd say not. Usually police / prosecutors wait to charge someone in cases where there's no body since there's always the off-chance that something turns up. They want to be sure there's little chance of them finding her remains before moving forward.

Add that there's always the chance that something turns up down the line, so it could rear its ugly head for him in a decade from now for him. He's never truly "safe" until he dies - or I guess they decide to charge him and he's aquitted (though I don't know if Canada has Double Jeopardy).

Plus, when his type thinks they got away with one crime it emboldens them and they get sloppy.
