Tom basically says it at the end there. It's these reddit janny types of people who were never given a smidge of power or authority over anyone in their lives and were probably bullied in high school due their social awkwardness and autism. So, they act out. This is the only time in their lives they get to inflict any amount control over other people in real life (versus on the Internet) and so, obviously, they're going to abuse that.
Usually people not giving Null or the KF any credit comes back to bite them later. Like Muta trying to take credit for saying stuff about Keffals despite the fact that Keffal's rapsheet has been well-known for years. Grifters are gonna grift, but when it comes time for them to say what they actually know (and didn't steal) they're going to fumble. It's how the game is usually played. In other words, don't even worry about it.
How are you judging someone else's watching habits if you're not even watching those videos yourself? Not every video essay is the same as the last.

Unironically gatekeeping works and should be encouraged. I don't know how many times people have to see open communities degrade until they realize you need to set standards. Any community, whether it's gaming, fan clubs, or politics, that has no standards is not a community. If everyone and anyone is welcome then you are nothing because you stand for nothing. Communities that are this weak attract egomaniacs because they know you are easily controlled, and it's the only bit of power they have. You become the group everyone goes to when they get blacklisted from everywhere else.
I mean, they do. They just pick and choose all the losers.
