I wouldn't be THAT shocked, a lot more comventions are turning into nearly full week long ones. It's normal now to see big ones even start to open doors on Wednesday.

I know BLFC was Monday - Thursday last year and appears to be following the same trend this year. It's strange but some cons have started moving to a "during the week" schedule.

BLFC is in a unique position where their ideal window is opposite to most other cons due to their location. For a lot of other cons, it's easier to book weekends because conferences are often during the week. However, due to their casino resort location, the easier booking window is actually during the week.

A lot of European cons have an extended con window -- like Thursday to Tuesday or Wednesday to Monday. But it also reflects their attitudes around time off.

VancouFUR’s response to Klace. Apparently Klace putting them on full blast on Social Media had the opposite effect of what they intended. Instead of kowtowing, they told Klace to gtfo.

Dare I say, VancouFur is based for this response. They didn't give into drama. They stayed professional, pointed at policy and then the public addressing of it was "Get fucked, this is our policy."
Edit: BTW, it seems Klace and Civit were work partners until a few months ago and are now having a dumb spat. Klace is removing music from his games that Civit did and this seems to be an active campaign by Klace to bury Civit. Someone else might know more about this drama.

This weekend is Fur the More 2024, which has had a troubling last couple of years. As a quick recap:

-2022: they made several stupid and drastic policy changes while the event was running and pissed off most of the attendees. It is way too long for me to summarize here, so I will link to this post I made back then going into more detail. They also insisted on switching their featured charity to something more "progressive" (that showed multiple warning signs of not being very legitimate), only for that charity to misappropriate all the money that Fur The More gave them.
-2023: even more restrictive policies that weren't revealed until a couple of days before the con. More attention was brought to the fact that CrusaderCat showed up, con staff banned him immediately, and then wrote a bunch of self-masturbatory posts on social media about how inclusive they were by banning him.
-2024: masks and COVID vaccination records are mandatory. Their social media was getting little to no engagement and it was theorized that interest was really low.


And here we are, Friday night. These were allegedly taken just before midnight in the hotel's lobby and dance.

Gonna be real, this is looking REALLY bad. Unless they do something drastic soon, I will be surprised if a 2025 event happens at this point.

Awful if true, for the con. That's prrrrime time.

The big deal of course will be if they made room block or not. I'd guess not from that? But who knows what their contract's like.
