Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

Drones don't need any communications whatsoever for guidance once launched any more. They can follow coordinates from maps uploaded to the drone before flight to follow calculated waypoints or even by following terrain with an on-board camera. Far from science-fiction this is trivial to do now.

This was even demonstrated last week at a tech hacking camp in 24 hours with less than $500 in gear:

The real-time comms link is still useful for FPV loitering missions taking out targets of opportunity.
none of that is present in any of Ukraine's drones.
instead of being programmed to go after Russian troops it seems the Ukrainians themselves are still remotely controlling the drones to target their own from surrendering.

Something I’ve been wondering about btw: Given that the drones for the most part come from China, what are the odds of Russia quietly and under the table are being fed the kind of information that the manufacturers would have about the drones? Information that would come in very handy for jamming?
Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Russia's paying China to add deliberate backdoors or kill switches directly. Russia/China relations are rather warm compared to the US' increasingly icy attitude towards the chinks.

it seems the Ukrainians themselves are still remotely controlling the drones to target their own from surrendering.
Holy shit, they're seriously wasting drones to kill their own soldiers?

Fucking christ, man.

Battle Report
(Today was a big day with lots going on)

Starting with the big stuff Russia is doing really well in Orlivka. It seems like they have taken half of it and that yellow line is about where the Russians are clearing the city out of. The purple is the new stuff. This is moving faster than I expected I expected this to take at least another day to get to where things currently are. This direction has consistently seemed to be moving faster than I thought it would even when I thought it would move faster. Russia could fully capture Orlivka tomorrow and leave Ukraine in a very bad position here. Ukraine might be smart and retreat most things behind the river while they can. Ukraine could actually put reserves here and counter attack. We shall see.

Russia captures half of Orlivka.jpg

The other big news is Ivanivske saw major progress today. This is probably one of the few places Ukraine has sent Reserves and it has seen brutal fighting. Russia has managed to gain a lot though. This suggests Ukraine either doesn't have enough reserves here or is just simply being worn down. I'd say this is the main focus of Russia's attacks at the moment. Shouldn't be too long until the rest of the town is taken. If Russia manages to keep pushing and Ukraine continues to face problems we could see another situation similar to the Situation west of Avdeevka develop. Though Chasov Yar is a good defensive location so it may take until after Chasov Yar is taken for that to happen.

Ivanivske east of Chasov Yar
Ivanivske.jpg

Russia has the ability to bombard the only major road out of Ivanivske now. Part of what made Avdeevka so bad is the Russians could just bombard retreating troops as they left. We might see a smaller version of that soon here. I will be paying more attention to Drone and artillery footage channels to see if this happens

Robotyne has seen a bit of offensive action though not much. It looks like Russia might have taken the outer edges of the town but not far into it. There was also a bit of movement a bit to the right of Robotyne. I think Russia is taking her time here bombarding Ukrainian reserves with fabs and slowly encircling Robotyne and once it is surrounded on 3 sides Russia will take it for good. I think these attacks are more about tying down Ukrainian forces and exploiting Ukraine wanting to see the counter-offensive as a success. Robotyne was about the only somewhat success Ukraine had in the Counter-Offensive actually taking the first line.

Robotyne Salient

Russia takes some land a little bit to the east of Robotyne Salient. Ukraine has definitely taken Reserves from here and these attacks are about putting extra pressure on Ukraine.

Zap Front to the right of Robotyne.jpg

There were small attacks by Russia in the North. You can't see it here because it is small and ISW didn't really bother showing it but Russia is slowly getting ready to take Terny. There is a similar situation here with Orlivka and the rivers where Russia will have a very free hand to move here if they can cut the right places off.

END OF BATTLE REPORT

Russia is working on Logistics in the rear and building a new rail line from Mariupol to Crimea

Russia has the ability to make chips even so sanctions are not going to work.

Two somewhat graphic videos of people fighting the men conducting mobilization. Part of the reason Ukraine is having such trouble is that there is a lot of people that really don't want to be mobilized. It used to be the rest of the country would tell their men to go but these videos show a lot of the other people do not like this. This is also a reminder and reason to be understanding towards a lot of Ukrainians especially the mobilized. There are without a doubt people who hate everything being done and feel powerless to do anything. In both these videos the people who hit the mobilization officer fail to stop anything

As far as I understand it was probably for saying things about Israel. Israel has Musk by the balls unfortunately. This sucks although his Telegram is just fine thankfully.
And with the retards currently in charge, it’s frankly a wonder that we aren’t scrounging for canned food in a nuclear wasteland already.
There are some barriers to escalation so I still think NATO intervention in any form is very unlikely. But I no longer think it is impossible.

Whether real or not, you can sign a contract with the Russian military.

Or… Help with the information war. This straight from the big guy himself:

Posting stuff like that about having kiwifarms actively supporting russia sounds like a real good way to have every ISP on the planet ban the site citing claims that its now actively supporting 'russian terrorism against ukraine' or something to that effect and ending with null getting attention from interpol

Even jokingly making statements like that isn't a good idea considering how easy it could be used against the site. Troons have caused serious problems for alot less. Bad enough they fuck with hosts over minor shit, we don't need them calling up the feds with stuff like that

I have some bad news for you...everyone posting here with an easily identifiable usr name and not using TOR/VPN is already on Myrotvorets and their country's version of the same. I mean, did Greenwald and Snowden not spell it out clearly enough?

They sure as fuck don’t want to trade New York
Yeah but most Americans do lol

And LA
And Boston
And San Francisco
And Portland
And Chicongo
Probably Atlanta too

Lighter but still related news:

A “children’s missile system” has gone on sale in Russia. This is a children's car made in the form of military equipment with a cannon that shoots soft “missiles”. The launcher says "Iskander".

Cute. Link (in case you wish to make inquires, for research purposes of course).

The first seriously alleged use of an actual autonomous drone to kill people was a few years ago in Libya with a Turkey supplied drone that was allegedly tasked to attack retreating vehicles or infantry

That said there was no explicit confirmation and that drone has multiple engagement modes and the Turks are not very forthcoming as to what exactly it can do fully autonomously.

Plus, machine vision is finicky and not exactly hard to spoof.
Russia has the ability to make chips even so sanctions are not going to work.
They can make chips down to about 90nm and have done little trial runs of 65nm.

90nm was cutting edge in 2003 and was used in the Pentium D and AMD Althon 64 X2. Remember, an F-22 uses CPU technology from the early to mid 1990s, as do most modern fighter jets. A Javelin, Hellfire and Brimstone fire and forget ATGM uses pretty damn primitive CPUs, think mid 1990s vintage.

That said Russia can buy much newer stuff from China or..... Just buy Western stuff via the middle East, Turkey, Azerbaijan or India. Sure you pay a markup but it's not crazy.

Russia is also planning to get to 28nm by 2027/28 and 14nm by 2030 domestically.... We'll see but they are taking it seriously.

TBH just expressing it in terms of nanomaters is a total bastardization, you are correct that 90nm is adequate for most defense products tho

Do not involve yourself in the war or we will nuke central niggertropolis

Dang, the bar is so low that Russia is cutting edge.

Seconded. I was going to reply to the post myself. But aside from any ammunition it provides to KF's enemies, it's really just not accurate at all to talk about how KF can support Russia. For one, most of the site doesn't really support anybody and for two, there are like it or not a small and rabid anti-Russian contingent here. But the main point is Null has always been very clear: "KiwiFarms is not your personal army". It's not an activist site, it's not even a political site - it's a place to laugh at people who publicly make fools of themselves. The fact that Null is interested / tolerant enough to have all this Happenings and A&N topics shouldn't be taken by anyone as meaning the Farms is a rallying point for any politics. The Farms is simply the last bar on the Internet, where you can still have a good time. Where all the others have been turned into corporate coffee houses with strict policies. Even talking about "KiwiFarms supporting Russia" is so far from accurate it's delusional.

One can voice one's own support. Nobody should be speaking on behalf of the Farms.

Going back to the start of the war and the trigger.
Sure, Russia claims that they have been unhappy with the shelling of the russian speaking population
in the east of the country. But that had been going on for almost a decade and might be one reason but it is not the trigger.

That is why it is so funny to see all the hysteria about "republican and trumpers should be beaten in the streets because they don't want to defend ukraine."
Why no outrage about the trigger itself? Without which the war might not have started in the first place?
I mean someone going on live tv and literally say that as long as the incursion was just a small incursion then that would be fine.
Or have NAFO forgotten about that? I mean that was literally when a world leader and global power told Putin that as long as it was just a small incursion then it was ok, you can go ahead.
