Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

When you're playing on ultra easy and don't have to account for huge losses, it kinda makes sense to bring less higher quality.
Unfortunately it's not that kind of situation, and 200 good 'nuff T-72 worth way more than 31 wunder waffe (lol) abrams.

The mainstay of the Ukrainian Army is the T-64. Near the beginning of this war, I thought that Western talk of shipping a hodge-podge of more modern (but still decades out of date) armaments was foolish. If they had their wits about them (which they don't; we have the most retarded ruling class in the USA in our history), they would have been aiding the construction of a new T-64 factory or two after 2014.

Now look at the broader situation from a Euro pov. There's a genuine anger there that goes beyond Russia invading a sovereign nation and killing civilians. In their minds Russia has derailed what was essentially supposed to be Europes civilizational retirement.

Then what are they so upset about? They should invite the Russians to keep rolling their tanks forward in a kind of nation-scale version of Dutch health care.

Beyond that some euro politicians have taken the Kool-Aid and genuinely believe that Russia will invade the rest of Europe once they're through with Ukraine. But even the more levelheaded Euro bureaucrats know they can't afford another cold war with Russia.
Which part of "Ukraine is the ultimate red line" and "Russia considers a non-neutral Ukraine to be an existential threat" did they fail to understand?

I see a lot of kvetching about how Ukraine was never a threat and how NATO is a purely defensive alliance. These people must be perpetual incels, because in a relationship what YOU think matters diddly squat. You have to listen to what your PARTNER thinks for a relationship to work out.

Which part of "Ukraine is the ultimate red line" and "Russia considers a non-neutral Ukraine to be an existential threat" did they fail to understand?

In America, "red line" means "some bullshit a politician says, but doesn't really mean, in order to look good on Twitter." This was a genuine cultural misunderstanding due to unfamiliar colloqualisms (much like how eye contact with superiors is respectful in the USA and disrespectful in Japan) that, sadly, has resulted in war. If Putin had wished to properly communicate the importance of Ukraine to the American government, he should have said something like, "Russia considers a non-neutral Ukraine to be a form of online transphobia."

So if they liquidated the materials and equipment they were sent (Concrete? Excavators?) they could have still dug hand trenchs. I wonder if they had enough behind the line manpower to do it the old fashion way, or if too much manpower was being routed to the front to make much headway on that.
Hard to hand dig trenches, when the few soldiers you can spare and aren’t at the front, are busy building dachas for the generals and local bigwigs.

Informative piece on how artillery is holding up for Ukraine. Necessity has forced them into DIY repairs and parts replacements to keep them running.

The British M777 artillery system has not been produced since 2019. They are attempting to create a new production line to produce them again with hope of first deliveries in 2025.

Worn-out artillery barrels are a massive problem for Ukraine. For example, the m109 paladin has a barrel lifetime of only 1500 shells. There isn't any sort of production system in the world to make replacement barrels for their artillery at the rate they need.

The requirements for weapons in Ukraine are nearly opposite to all the standards established for the NATO armies. NATO/US creates expensive boutique weapons that are rarely used. Ukraine needs dependable low-cost mass produced weapons.

As the article kind of hints, many if not most of the systems being sent to Ukraine (like tanks) are beyond the technical abilities of Ukraine to repair or maintain. So they just tend to use very expensive systems until they break and throw them away.

Won’t work Kiwifren.

Sure, Ukraine was at one time one of the most productive and advanced places in the Soviet Union. Tank factories, ICBM factories, Jet turbine engine factories.

But today, Ukraine is a failed state. None, or very little of that Soviet era know how remains. Most people with qualifications left to Israel, Russia or Europe, and even many of the kind of low iq hohols you’d need to sweep the factory floor left.

And that’s besides the fact that if you had Germans and Anglos build and staff a T64 plant, it would take three years and cost five billion dollars before they even start rolling out.

I can easily see Ukraine having three more years at the speed Russia has been crawling forward, and five billion dollars is small change compared to the wads of cash the US and EU keep stuffing in Zelensky's lace panties by the handful.

EU Leaders agree on €50 billion of reliable financial support for Ukraine until 2027
How Congress Could Bypass Republican Opposition to Funding Ukraine with $95 billion

So the euros have a vested interest in regime change, and that regime change can only be accomplished through a catastrophic Russian defeat
I mean theres another regime change they could be interested in, internal by getting rid of macron and greens, and external by getting rid of USA. Both of which can solve their problemes way better than trying to destabilise a nuclear nation next door.

Polish-Ukrainian relations are falling apart
Poland leads talks with Ukraine on the temporary closure of their mutual border for trade, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Feb. 28, stressing that such a solution would be "painful for both parties," RMF24 reported.
"We are ready for a serious conversation about limits (on the export of Ukrainian goods). Those limits proposed by Brussels and Kyiv are unacceptable for us," the prime minister note.
"We want to help Ukraine, but we cannot allow this assistance to have such negative consequences for our citizens," Tusk said, adding that Poland has been one of the most pro-Ukrainian nations during the full-scale war with Russia.
The Polish government has repeatedly said it understands the concerns of its agricultural producers and pointed out the supposed negative impacts of the EU's decision to continue a free trade regime with Ukraine, originally instituted in 2022.
According to Warsaw, the influx of cheaper Ukrainian products threatens the domestic production and livelihoods of Polish farmers, which Kyiv denies. Poland has already instituted a ban on several Ukrainian products, such as grain.

"Bro I can totally modernize this bro c'mon just one computer chip bro just one more chip one more upgrade package look I've got a bespoke new alloy bro 3% better APFSDS protection bro I just need new foundries and five years for it c'mon bro don't you want to protect our troops?"

Those are probably these:

These are the rare and unique 9M534 missiles, which do not carry an explosive charge but a T-90 reconnaissance drone developed by ЗАО "ЭННИКС" possessing a pulse air-jet or small-size solid fuel rocket (in a new modifications).

🔻The range of the data transmission is up to 150km and because the UAV has some maneuverability thanks to its own means of propulsion, it can change trajectory.

🔻In total, it remains in the air for about 20 minutes. As a result, the Tornado-S crew can quickly carry out additional reconnaissance of the terrain immediately before launching the 11 remaining 9M542/544 and 9M549 guided MLRSs.

🔻Also, the 9M534 and 549 rockets can be equipped not only with five Motiv-3M self-targeting submunitions, but also with similar "kamikaze" UAVs of individual guidance with small-sized shaped warheads, providing for the defeat of enemy armoured groups moving from the rear on the march and dispersed along large stretches of highways.

The tactical and technical potential of the Tornado-S MLRS is already noticeably ahead of its main competitor, the American HIMARS MLRS. link

Again; the Ukraine is one big proving grounds. Russia better keep in mind that in addition to knowing what works better, the burgers are going to know what doesn't work, and go from there.

The big problem is that those three years and X billion dollars gets a little Iskander reset every six months ;)

EDIT:

And while we’re on the topic of NATO is fucked…

Nerds who laughed at how poorly a Russian Elbrus CPU or Chinese whatever chip ran Windows or Doom, never understood that.
I keep seeing this here and elsewhere.
"LOL vatniggers/chinkshit can't even do their own 32nm chip properly. They'll never catch up with da West."

Yeah, duh. The purpose of these home-grown chips is so that they're not dependent on the West. (And if one were to look closely at the supply chain, only a handful of companies can even manufacture the machinery to produce these boutique chips.) They don't need to be the best; only good enough that they can repurpose it for their use. (When you think about it, even 45nm process chips are late 2000s tech. Not a terrible place to end up, given how fast PCs are already at the time.)

Lighter but still related news:

A “children’s missile system” has gone on sale in Russia. This is a children's car made in the form of military equipment with a cannon that shoots soft “missiles”. The launcher says "Iskander".

Cute. Link (in case you wish to make inquires, for research purposes of course).
There's something oddly fascinating about seeing toys come out in a war. It's like seeing those WW1 toy soldiers that would come out.

The M1 Abrams destroyed by the Russians is not an American tank, it was transported to Ukraine, so it is Ukrainian. American tanks are still the best in the world!
lmao the cope overdose is not making them look good
*this was an old Abrams with no ERA what did they expect

Russian army units entered Krasnogorovka as per Slavyangrad

Welp.,.

When was the last time we built a new railway in the west? Not just fixing a broken one, but a brand new one?
I think they've been building that Crimean railway for a couple years and it's almost complete. I'm sure others here know a lot more about it than me and can fill us in.
