Well well well, if it isn't Nerkish himself. I had forgotten I had remained subscribed to him from a long time ago, and it looks like he has undergone (another) rebrand, and decided to do Trump political videos to chase the algorithm.

Nerkish wanted to do political hot take news for a while. But not as Trump-y as he is doing now. He tried to do it with animation and that led him down a deep rabbit-hole that took a couple years for him to get out of. Because an animated show isn't practical. He was initially working with the artist/animator Sashi and then he partnered with a guy who think goes by Sven.

They put alot of effort into the Burkle and Spay show but the algorithm hated it and they never got enough views.

The other big thing that happened is that Nerkish became a full-blown christian at the end of a muti-year path to it. He is a serious family man and dad. He has always wanted to do some kind of content that could catch on, get an audience and make the effort he put into it seem worth it.

So any edgelord stuff is out and catering to the Fox News crowd is in. His writing and delivery is better than most people doing that kind of political clip stuff IMO. Still really low effort though.

Vaguely? Like most things Malin does he was completely opaque about every single aspect of its operation, so it's no surprise that it failed. I just assumed the whole thing was a front for more business being sent to Poulton's garage, given that all of Malin's crowdfunds say to send their complaints to Poulton's gmail address.

Anyways, having watched the Rippasend video, it's clear that recouping his warehouse/logistic expenses is only part of Eric's aims with this. Adopting Kickstarter's policy of campaign vetting is intended to cultivate brand value behind the 3PL company, to where prospective creators will see the Rippasend name stamped on their project as a sales-driving guarantee to the customer of prompt fulfillment of what was promised. That's what Eric intends to actually be selling to creatives in the long run.

It's certainly something to contrast with how the 'Comicsgate' brand has been managed.

I think I said my piece when I said that EVS throwing in with JuJu and pals is gonna be the death of CG. Skimming the thread, it seems like nearly everybody that posts here is more or less in agreement, and many of you follow this way more closely than I do.

After 2023 and the exodus of the vast majority of whoever was left driving CG, I don't think bringing on Dax or fighting with a bunch of guys who were deadset on gatekeeping Frog really matters at this point. He should just do whatever he wants at this point for all the difference it will make.

Ody started grinding out webtoons until Dark Horse picked him up for a publishing contract, now his work is being distributed in comic shops and bookstores across North America. The second 256 page volume is set to hit shelves next month, placing his output since 2020 at somewhere around ~800 pages of work. Oh wow! That's actually really impressive. From dealing with Liam's bullshit, to being published by Dark Horse. I felt really bad for the way Ody treated Liam. He deserved better, and it's looking like he's getting it.

My guess is that FROG has realized for the last year or so that CG is indeed dead/dying and is trying to find greener pastures before CG becomes unviable even for a carnival barker as he is; hence becoming pals with Juju et al.

I haven't been following CG as closely as I used to, but here's a rough timeline of where we were in the recent past to where we are now based on my recollection:

- The first major event was the Dale Keown debacle where Patrick T Parnell was supposed to publish Dale Keown material. The whole project went south, because (from what I recall) somebody got to Dale and told him that PTP was trying to screw him out of money and/or was mishandling the production. A drunken Dale flipped out and cancelled the whole deal. EVS then (in the words of PTP) "swooped in" and wanted to take over the whole project himself. This created drama and an initial rift between EVS' crew and PTP.

- The next major event I remember was the PTP "Dungeoneer" scandal where PTP and other accomplices hosted a CG event in Las Vegas including a trip to an S&M-themed sex club. This outraged the "prude" faction of CG like EVS and Malin. EVS and Malin dubbed this group of CG people "Dungeoneers," and mocked them for days. This finalized the rift between EVS' crew and PTP's people. But the event also brought to light that PTP and other prominent CG members were trying to create their own faction of CG operating independently from EVS, which started to increase EVS' paranoia about his stranglehold on CG.

- The next major event after that I remember was even more splintering in the CG ranks. Malin went on a Dungeoneer File's rampage on Twitter exposing all kinds of private DMs to punish disloyal CG rebels. Rifts now happen between longtime CG members Kelsey and Narwhal and EVS' crew.

- And the latest major happening in CG is EVS going full-agro retard jihad on Yellowflash and EJ with his Trashcasts. To me this seems like the biggest shift. EVS maintained a simmering hatred of EJ for a long time that would erupt into attacks here and there, but with Trashcast EVS went full-in on abandoning his identity as comic creator/publisher to become a drama farmer. Whatever happens, I think this is going to continue to cause more chaos in CG.

Yeah, EVS totally engages in gatekeeping. And yes, the TM is part of that. It's just it's the type of Gatekeeping designed to ensure loyalty to him, and not the type to keep out bad actors that would make the "CG movement" look bad. The practical application of this is that EJ is out, whereas Vito is in. EJ looks competent relative to EVS. Vito he can get some loyalty out of. For a time, anyways.

Yeah, his new shit is just straight pandering but I'm glad he finally found some success even if it's just kind of a Memeology-extended version news clip channel.
