Last time someone lost their life in a robbery in Edmonton when it comes to bank funds was when a security guy killed his partners at the university so he can make out with some money from the armoured car. They were going to a debit machine I think and he shot three people. Bank robberies are rather tame, at least in Alberta.
Well yeah. It's inherently about mitigating risk. It's not going to add "cunt punt some faggot" to an SOP even when most of these people could be stopped by simply saying no to them. The one that won't be stopped by that is going to cost you more than all the others combined.

To add to this:
at least they caught the 730 LRT so he was fit enough to run 12 minutes. like he'd have to run to the escalator/stairs (because stairs are faster) which is a good 5 minute run if you're not in shape, and then cross the overpass, run down the stairs and catch the LRT before it leaves. He might have even had had time to run into the mall to keep warm (and have additional camera's on him). He probably had 2 minutes to spare.
As a security guard you're supposed to just call the police now if anything happens. Your job is to stand there. Some new security companies want you do more but that's against the law. You can get your certificates to search people and handcuff them and you're now supposed to take defense training, but there's no point. If you get hurt by a criminal that's all on you so don't take the risk.
If they robbed a grocery store they MIGHT get 100-200 in bills from every till with MAYBE 25-50 in bitch change. Most stores are pretty autistic about getting their money into safes that can't easily be opened.
Armoured cars are the only way to go anymore. Hitting the guards while they're outside the van and delivering the cash is pretty much the only kind of bank robbery anyone actually succeeds with these days, unless you consider scoring a couple hundred bucks from a teller's drawer a success.
I only think it's cool if you do it while dressed like an old west style bandit.
I assume the cops passed him back a note informing him he's under arrest, then he'll go to a prison where they only serve ice cream four times a week and the Nintendo Switch in the break room doesn't have Animal Crossing
The most effective attacks in my experience involve things like exploitation of opening/closing procedures or after hours attacks on vaults/ATMs.
I'm partial to that classic black bally and blue boiler suit combo of the 70s and 80s.
