Is anyone actually excited for that new Pokémon game? This series went to shit long ago. Mostly once it hit the switch.

Unless they finally decide to rerelease/remaster the Gamecube titles (let me hope), I have no real faith in this series. Unfortunately, because it's a Nintendo First Party game, it's also incredibly unlikely to ever go cheap enough for me to think of grabbing - I don't mind bad games, but that tolerance fades a LOT if I pay full price for it.
I'm giving them Gen X before I completely write hem off. There were some moments is S/V where you could see that someone at GF gave a shit, and it bought just enough good will from me that I'm willing to see how 10 plays out, but at this point I don't think the combination of autism and nostalgia can do it anymore.
Yeah yeah, give rainbows for me having any degree of good will for fucking Game Freak...

Yes. Legends game has been some of the most fun I’ve had with the series. And I really liked XY. And the fact that I like Piplup, whose obviously going to be the water starter.

The backpacker class kinda looks like him.
And then the Ultra versions replaced that heartfelt moment with beating some weak Pinsirs. Complete waste.

If you do all of the school content, he's usually an idiot in some of your classes, and he always has the worst test scores or some shit. Even in the post ending credits, he gets the worst of it while Penny got rewarded for being a bitch for most of the game (Arven gets scolded by the gay principal while Penny and Nemona are rewarded for being stunning and brave). Even if I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill, I'm wondering why is this poor guy getting pissed on like this, and why the fuck am I supposed to like Nemona and Penny? I remember the Fire Star member saying either she knew how to "enhance" Pokemon for their Antifa faggoty or Penny taught them how. It's been a while since I played that turd of a Pokemon game.

I actually hope so. The Pokémon Company would actually get consequences from coasting off the brand name while giving ever worse games. Also, that should provide a break in The Pokéclone Cycle:
- The Pokémon Company releases a bad game.
- Fans WRYYYYY over how The Pokémon Company is a mess.
- Someone makes a Pokéclone.
- Fans celebrate and overhype the Pokéclone, claiming tha the Pokéclone is 'the true Pokémon experience' that would give The Pokémon Company some competition.
- Fans undersupport or just do not suppor the Pokéclone.
- The Pokéclone fails.
- Fans WRYYYYYYYYY over how others hould have supported the Pokéclone.
- The Pokémon Company announces a new game.
- Fans celebrate and overhype the announced game, down to preordering the game.
While these types o fans would just keep on complaining online instead of taking advantage of this opening, at leas the cycle would be broken, since there would be no new Pokémon games. They might even claim tha they were the ones who managed to pple Pokémon's place, even though they did not do much or anything agains that fact.

Not sure what you all are talking about with ESG. TPC is woke as fuck compared to most JP companies. Every group of gym leaders is a veritable BK Kids Club, they went out and hired a few foreigners to help design new mons, they had cool female scientists out the ass, etc.

Well I'm right there on that mole hill with you buddy.
Anyway, having now actually seen the ZA trailer I feel like it's just as dry and corpo as the other guy was describing the rest of the presents as. It spends a whole lot of time hyping you up for basically nothing- oh wow it was Lumiose behind the tape on the funny text, just like you showed us. Wow, it's nothing! Why use the funny text anyway if it's going to be subtitled? Remember in BW when they gave you the underwater ruins with their own "language", and left the fandom to decode it, which gave some answers but still left some mysteries? That was kino. This feels like cheap shitty memberberries for when the franchise used to do cool things like that. Couldn't even have extra text unsubtitled with extra hints... probably because there's nothing else to say. The games no longer have lore like that, it feels like, it's all shitty and flat and surface-level. They no longer flesh out the whole world such that there can even be things just below the surface to hint at.
And the mega symbol at the end is just pure key-jangling. I hate it so so much.
I'm also incredibly sus on that "beautiful coexistence" bit that feels like it's supposed to be villain talk. The games have been sliding into sort of a groveling environmental message since like gen 7 (where humanity is so cucked by the tapus they can't even live on that one island unless you're a silver spoon family like Hapu and where riding a damn Tauros is presented like a gift from God), so I half expect "coexistence" between humans and Pokemon which was fine up to like gen 5 is going to be turned into some kind of strawman to preach about how people don't deserve Pokemon and do nothing for Pokemon and should grovel for the honor of being along side them. Instead of Pokemon being partners. Remember in BW where there were Excadrills working alongside miners? That feels like it never happens anymore.
And of course, this is a Leg-ends game, so I expect the expeditioners to be completely clueless and hostile to Pokemon against all lolgic while the noble savages live "in harmony" ie have never progressed past mud huts and practically worship the damn things. I dunno man. There's this ace trainer or veteran somewhere late in XY who's all, Pokemon do so much for us, what do we ever do for them?? and proceeds to imply there's no answer to that question and therefore humanity should grovel to Pokemon for being given such gifts, but there's like a million things you could answer that question with that just get ignored.
Actually, talking about the fire Star guys "enhancing" Pokemon and getting away with it, there's the second odd undercurrent that when the games aren't now beating you over the head for just daring to want to chill with you Pokemons as equals... they're actually treated somewhat poorly. Compare the OG Rotomdex being an actual sentient character to the rest of the Rotom-stuff just... using Rotoms as engines/batteries. And then I think of Ohomori saying the solution to the always-on exp share is to let your fave mons rot in the box so they don't overlevel, and I start to think I know where the rot comes from- writers who don't know jack fucking shit about friendship, and don't even try to understand it.

I'm pretty sure by now Pokemon keeps churning out their female scientists for....Reasons. I mean, are we really going to judge Sonia as woke? Sonia was a fucking complete ditz outside of being a bookworm. She's not exactly portrayed as "brilliant scientist". Besides, the fans seem to like her. Juniper? Fine, but it was the first time they did it. Then we had Kukui and Sycamore. The scientist thing kind of falls flat. Foreigners designing mons is fine if they come out good. The only ESG stuff I can think of is in S/V with that one ambiguous gym leader and the character customization. Sure, you can say the other characters are ugly, but everything in S/V is ugly. The game barely functions. I'm not going to split hairs over it when you have nothing else in any other recent Pokemon game suggesting wokeness.
If anything, Pokemon is as anti-woke as they come. Black and White are pretty much out the gate saying:
"Communism is bad. Don't do it."
"Communists will use morality as a weapon. Don't fall for it."
"Don't hand over your guns you fucking retards"
"The victims Communists use to manipulate you also have free will and might not want to be victimized"
"Organizations saying they're doing this for your own good, are often fucking liars."

My dude, have you ever seen S/V? They are woke alright, they signed the deal with the devil just like Capcom did and are going to run the franchise to the ground. The Japanese already hate the new body type/ugly characters nonsense and they're not keen on the LGBT pandering/niggers either. It's going to get worse in every game going forward.

What? That game literally only took place in New York because Masuda wanted to be a star in Broadway and he failed. The bad guys are just PETA and nothing else, with a little bit of edge because the franchise was going thru a phase at that point.
Also, that was the first game where you had a race mixed couple and the woman was the pants wearer in the relationship, people used to joke about that back when the game came out. If anything, B/W was where proto-wokeness started and XY amplified it by drowning Kalos in niggers(I can't stress this enough, I think 50% of all NPCs in that game are black). Gen 7 took place in Alola so all the non whites were not out of place(and both American regions are ironically enough still whiter than Euro regions), it helped that the game started to resemble the "quality" of older gens at times, with biggest complaints being the long cutscenes.
I want to say that Gen 8 was where it became obvious, but if it was, it was completely buried beneath other issues, like dexit, horrific optimization, poor animations, horrible story and characters ect.
Gen 9 was where it could no longer be ignored, and that's where we are today.
Pokemon was always a children's franchise, it was never "based" and it was pandering to what could be considered the "woke" crowd for majority of it's life cycle now. I don't know where you got this idea that Pokemon ever had some sort of grand ethos other than "buy 2 gameboys and two games and don't forget that transfer cable if you want all the pokemon!". This is the only consistent idea the entire franchise had, since it was always about milking kids dry even back in first gen, under the guise of "playing with friends". Bad guys were always flat and two dimensional, stories were always written for kids or felt like they were written by someone on a mental level of a child and there were never any themes or ideas deeper than a puddle. It's baby's first RPG and you see what you wanted to see in these games.
The games don't have any philosophical takes or any anti-communist messages. They give you a yellow rat that goes "Pika Pi!" and shoots lightning out of it's cheeks. You're not supposed to dig into that and write a youtube video essay, you're supposed to have fun and immerse yourself in the world. It's a power fantasy for kids, and that comes with plot holes that come for those with an incomplete view of the world: Why are kids going unsupervised on cross-country trips? Why are they allowed to command large dragons or legendary beasts? Why are all adults complete morons and kids have to save the day? Why is every criminal group goon a saturday morning villain, complete with matching evil uniforms? How are you supposed to fit a giant animal within a small ball and how does uploading it or downloading it from a PC even work? Why does nobody ever use a GUN in those games when the anime confirmed they exist?
Who cares. Kids certainly don't, they probably bash A to skip all the dialogue because they just want to see the numbers on their Pokemon go up and see what the next town has in store for them. You, as an adult, are not a target audience and never will be, this is a universe that only makes sense if you're 12.
And most importantly of all, what is the zeitgeist of all modern culture, especially one that targets kids? You guessed it, make it woke to convert them into the cathedral as early as possible. TPC seems to agree since it will make them more money, they've been blathering on about diversity and all the other talking points for quite some time before S/V came out with an ESG seal of approval

They are not PETA and nothing else. If you pay attention closely, Team Plasma was a full on hostile communist dictatorship. It wasn't that they were hypocrites. They were INTENTIONALLY hypocritical to show this group was only using people's morality as a weapon. That's why after Ghetsis' big speech, the very next scene is Team Plasma beating up a Munna. That wasn't sloppy writing or by mistake. If you pay attention closely, your main cast of your character and friends never for a SECOND in the entire game entertain Team Plasma 's bullshit. They know it's BS and they aren't buying it. That's why you get a legendary dragon in the first place.
I've literally never heard anyone joke about that. Also who cares about an interracial couples in a video game that has screentime of all of 2 seconds and isn't a main character?
Okay, what about the plot of Sword and Shield? Yeah, Kek, I know. But if you actually do pay attention to the plot of Sword and Shield, the plot is Rose trying to avoid future calamity by burning the present world to the ground. All because the current world is using too many resources and they're facing an energy crisis in a thousand years. To which Leon says thats fucking insane. Hmm...I wonder if there's a real world metaphor for that.
Nah, can't be. It's not like there's an organization of rich powerful elites like Rose trying to burn our world to the ground in the name of preventing a future climate catastrophe. That's purely a work of fiction.

What plot? SwSh doesn't have one, the game is incomplete. They were writing up Rose to be some sort of well-meaning villain like Lysandre but failed to deliver the punchline...because the game isn't complete. None of the plot is, they had bits and pieces and were forced to ship the game as-is with none of them connecting or making any sense. SwSh has the least to say out of all the games and it's only purpose is to be the "First 3D Pokemon Console Game"(let's forget GC titles exist) and to test the waters for dexit/DLC. That's it, Galar is as wasted of an idea for a region as the new one that is so irrelevant I forgot what it was called. To Galar's defense at least they did the whole angle of making the gym challenges feel like big spectacles, and that's what the entire game should have been about.

Have you seen Kalos? It's full of niggers. He wanted to kill all of them to make "the world pretty" or some bullshit. That's the only explanation why he wanted to kill so many people so quickly for no reason, and I quite approve.
That, and when you bring this up, this seems to trigger quite a few pokemon fanboys. Great way to start a conversation in a Pokemon villains thread.

Well, Rose is pretty damn specific about what he wants to do. There's no mistaking his dialogue. Sure, it comes out of nowhere and makes no sense. But the message of "Don't burn the present to maybe save the future someday because it's fucking retarded" is clearly there. They went out of their way to make sure that part made it into the game. So, they clearly WANTED to tell that story. Otherwise they wouldn't have left this cutscene that's very clearly inspired by climate change being absolutely ridiculous, in the game.
