Just throwing in my two cents to the "don't be jealous" with Phil advice. That is definitely true and others have already summed up why, but I'd also recommend not getting annoyed when Phil says something wrong about a subject you care about. Don't get me wrong, I can definitely understand where people are coming from because it can be a pain when someone gets something wrong about something you're interested in/care about, especially if they're painting it in a negative light. But...it's Phil. He's largely known for being a clueless idiot, unlike with some other big streamers who have a large audience that will take his word at gospel and parrot back what they say, Phil just has a handful of dents who are too busy lonely tweeting pornstars to have any sort of influence on whatever you enjoy.

Really, if anything, take it as a sign that it's a good hobby/interest/whatever. I'd be way more worried if I enjoyed something that Phil was actually praising and saying positive things about. But in general, Phil is speaking out of his ass and reciting Twitter headlines without even understanding the subject at hand, so his opinion really means nothing.

The only thing that happens when you put your sword away is that it adds properties to his sword moves(it glows red during the move) and you can gain health. Like what @HorseSense said, you can't do certain moves and also some moves turn into some other shit like helicopter dragonfly makes you do a jumping squat.

He also has two little nigger daggers he uses that you can still use some moves even with it sheathed.
Here is Phil fucking up a combo(purposely?) to showcase some Yoshi nerf for his Flash move (where he puts his sword up vertically against his chest really fast).

Of course he's a fucking retard who doesn't put his sword away during the d+2,2 (hold back) when does use Flash, so the final sword hit doesn't get powered up in red and loses a lot of range.

I think that patch was very much needed. Yoshimitsu's Flash put the opponent in an insane juggle state, and it launched high enough that he could get two in a single combo and get a ton of wall carry. They shrunk the hitbox to where the opponent has the be closer to Yoshi's chest, rather than the top of his head. That way he gets one Flash during his juggle at most.

It's not a nerf I like (I'm not a Yoshi player, but my favorite player is Eyemusician, and his Yoshi is solid), but I understand why they nerfed Flash; it was just too OP as it was.

Yeah you're right, I shouldn't get too pissy about it. I remember having a similar reaction to when he saw a guy who's been running DnD games for like 30 year. But I think youre right that he doesn't even understand having hobbies. Even gaming to him, everything must be transactional

I think it's less nostalgia and more Phil's Era. Like everything was cool and good when he was around and everyone else is stupid and doesn't get it. It's why he loves "back in the day" segments and why he can so easily switch from "I was just being dumb because my audience was teenagers and that's what people wanted" to "Everyone is too sensitive you used to be able to joke about anything". It's not actually about a period in time he's speaking about, he's just talking about himself.
