The issue isn't with the forum, the issue is with those DM chains and people participating. It isn't people talking about videogames or any other specific topic. It's two people talking about videogames, three other people slapfighting, another person dropping random pieces of music and yet another one explaining forum history while someone posts pictures of their pets, all in one place and constantly crossing over. Plus multiposting, full sized images and single-word posts without any merit. If a thread like this existed on any board, even one with more forgiving rules, it would be rightfully deleted because it's absolute unreadable shit.
But it's also kind of fun, at least for some people.

I turned rating notifications off years ago and used the Reaction Received page and never really thought much about the score or other people's scores so this doesn't affect me at all
I do miss the idea of Good Boy Points and Dindus, they seem like they could have been fun

also you're wrong anyway because BYOB and YOSPOS were the only good boards on somethingawful (back when SA still existed which it doesn't anymore)

I’m still holding out, if DMs still exist, someone who likes chess needs to start a chess chat. It’s like mailing your moves but modern, we have the technology!

Like it's fucking ridiculous, stop being such crybabies. Just make a thread in Q&A and @ the people you want to post in your thread. You blatantly have no issues shitting up my thread, so just make a new thread for your friends.

The Q&A posts may be lost do you think having a thread in general would be better because then all the boards and invites are contained one area? I’m just asking if I’m not seeing something.

huh? You can make a thread in General Discussion too if you'd prefer. General Discussion doesn't really have any rules either. Call it "eatler's big fat friends club" and @ people.

The only times people will care about going off-topic is if you make a thread for MTG in Games and then talk about gay nigger sex or something.
