"I can't remember where I post; I am a retard."
User Flyout Tab > Your Content

"I want to see what posts of mine are active."
User Flyout Tab > Reactions Received
This is obnoxious as fuck on mobile and requires multiple more clicks
>muh mobile posters
It's 2024, minimum 80% of the site uses mobile.
More important than this though is it requires manually checking. If someone sees notifications instantly in an old thread, they are more likely to respond in a timely fashion, the other posters will too - more discussion. It being on by default definitely drives people to post more, especially when you see notifications for an old thread you had forgotten about that is suddenly active again.
No watched threads is not comparable. It's been stated many times why in this thread. The front page box won't affect me at all, again because I'm a mobile fag and 99% of the time I click the lightning bolt in the top right for most recent content. It doesn't show up there, it would once again require manually checking. This will reduce engagement.

Yes, you have used the site for over a decade without them. You are operator. If you had a reaction notification for every upvote it would make no sense, you would be swamped. Everyone else is not you.

Last but not least, there is a poll here to gauge user thoughts on this.

No one cares about the score. But the notifications make engaging with content easier.

Currently almost 4/5 users want back the option to turn them on.

I also think there's a possibility you'll get less people paying $20 for the special stickers if no one cares about stickers any more.

Don't know what to tell you. Turned on the thing that automatically watches the threads I post in after someone mentioned it earlier today. No alerts. Quotes do work.

I'm not re-enabling alerts. I have used this forum continuously for a decade without alerts for reactions without issues. If anything, it appears to have ingrained into people bad habits that they don't want to break.
You straight up removed a feature that could've been turned off just by going to Preferences.

Why not just show the low IQ niggers how to do that? Or better yet, have it ticked off by default instead of going nuclear mode and disabling it's use altogether?

I always thought I wanted to be one of the cool kids, then when I got into one of these I realised that people just get into gay drama that has seemingly been going on for ages. They also give out personal details, I guess they think that it's safe to do so in a dm with like 200 people? Lol. Anyway I left pretty quickly, but kind of sad with these new rules that I will never get a quick glimpse into that bizarre little world again.

Really it seems that those dm chains are basically Discord but in a shittier format, so imo not really preventing issues.

To get notifications when there are new posts in threads you've watched, retard

Because ratings are still useful as an overall barometer by which to measure the feelings of the majority who browse the thread, and select thread highlights.

Watching threads clogs up the bell feed, and notifications are an easy way to bookmark where you left off in a thread (without also clogging your bookmarks, which is a pain to get to on phone).

This isnt me being some sticker addicted dopamine fiend chasing a high; I just dont want my normal forum experience to be fucked with because some retards got Null angry.

it is not a fucking normal forum experience to navigate the entire site based on where your posts are getting likes, do you not get this? what the fuck is wrong with you people?

In much less trafficked threads I have used it to see that the thread might be getting someone new finding it for the first time. I'm just saying, it's not entirely useless.

like I'm more certain of ever that not only did reactions discourage users from using the site conversation, but the alerts for reactions trained people to focus on threads where there is already activity, and where they already get the most stickers. Why post in a thread about X when it doesn't get stickers? Thread Y is bumping and has lots of stickers, so I will keep going back to that.

People don't know how to figure out where they were in a thread (the forum automatically navigates to this part of the thread for you when you click the thread's link that has the /unread affix), they don't know how to watch a thread, they don't know where to find their watched threads.

Like, there are so many buttons on this that exist specifically to help you navigate to threads you are most interested in:

There's even more on the user flyout:

But based on the screeching it seems that a huge number of users literally use only this:

So instead of learning or adjusting to how the site actually works they just use a content feed of bullshit sticker alerts to figure out where they're going to be active at. Huh???

No, we're fixing that. I'm not reversing this, I'm locking this thread, and we'll revisit the issue in a week or month after people had time to adjust instead of just screeching about change.
