Apparently they invited Yulia Navalnaya who eventually declined but learning that she might be there, Olena Zelenska also declined. The reason?

Regarding the whole "europe has many good weapon systems and institutional knowledge is fantastic" thing, overall they dont maintain anything, leaving major issues unresolved for years (archive), barely make anything new (archive), and only very slowly make replacement parts (archive).

Normally you would have some innate production capacity just due to maintaining your standing forces, but that upkeep has been neglected for decades. They do have a 'MIC' but it is comparatively very small and limited.

France is eternally unhappy with its position in the modern world. Because it lacks the power to actually do anything, To compensate, French leaders tend to make headline-grabbing gestures that ultimately don't mean anything at all.

At the start of the conflict, Macron tried to make himself seem important by being the man of peace who was constantly talking to or visiting Putin. France committed little back then in the way of direct assistance to Ukraine.

Now Macron tries to make himself into the brave man of war standing tall when what he calls the "cowards" of Germany don't want to help Ukraine.

I don't see any political support in France for sending their army into Ukraine. It doesn't even seem politically possible in France for that to happen.

In what manner is Russia limited when French troops attack Russian soldiers, and Russia itself? More important, are they aware the Anglosphere, as well as Europe, aren't manufacturing materiel in the amounts that would be required if Russia decided to form a 21st century version of the Sixth Coalition, meaning WWIII, which would also mean the destruction and death of the EU, the US and of course, NATO? Well yeah but as a general rule when Washington says jump the EU asks how high, not that I think NATO grabbing a chunk of Ukraine in order to "save it" from foreign occupation is even within the realm of possibility, granted if for some reason something like that were to happen it'd be pretty funny seeing the media spin it as a great victory for democracy(tm) and act as if The Ukraine had finally won its total independence from Russia by having soldiers of a miriad other nations occupy protect its remaining territory in the west.

Seems too convoluted for something they already said they are going to rebuild. they already assigned individual countries to rebuild parts of it why not just wait for the end and carve it out.
If the idea is that they want to stop Russia from taking more Ukraine they could just surrender and make a peace treaty with what Russia currently holds.
I guess i could see it if the scenario is like if shit really hit the fan and communication totally broke down between Zelinsky and NATO while NATO is demanding he surrenders already but Zelinsky refuses, so they go in on Ukraine to topple him and make a peace deal with Russia, which i think would be fucking insane but it would also be pretty funny

Here is my completely made up speculative theory of what could have happened that led up to Nylund's very sudden resigning/firing/fall

1, Gen-Z is suddenly fired. This comes out of the blue to the US and shocks the administation
2, Nylund extremely urgently goes to Ukraine to try to fix things, it didn't work, no one listened to her.
3, Nylund and the administration tries to pressure Ukraine by stopping intelligence sharing. a.k.a Bring Z-gen back and the intelligence spigot is turned back on.
4, This backfires catastrophically since without real-time intelligence on russian assets and positions the Ukranian defence lines virtually collapses in places like Advi...
5, with defences collapsing at several stragetically important places and the defence in shambles, the russians push on hard and capture a lot of territory and strategic positions rapidly.
6, Full retreat and is is decided that even if they start intelligence sharing again it might be too late to stop the russian advances, at least too late to stop the advances in the short term.
7, someone has to fall on the sword for causing this collapse and it is Nylund.

Nylund tried to force the Ukes to reinstate Z-gen, it failed spectacularly and caused a total collapse at several strategic points of the defence line. Collapse so complete that even reversing the threat would not help regain the losses. And thus she got fired for fucking up the war and possibly ending it prematurely.

My theory is that the Biden Administration is trying to get out of the quagmire that Nuland desperately wants to keep going. With Congress not allowing more aid and Ukraine's collapse seemingly inevitable Nuland's options were limited.
She probably attempted to convince the Europeans that it was time for NATO to intervene. Macron jumped at the chance while Sholtz balked and released those tapes.

EDIT: Also a friendly reminder that literally nobody wanted these Euro 4Gen planes. Don't conflate sales failures with engineering failures. They might be good planes, but for already mentioned reasons, can't be made in high enough numbers cheaply enough to be viable. Also probably not enough bribe money from the manufacturer.

You know what the crazy thing is? A long time ago, there were this things called torpedo nets which were the major naval powers' response to the introduction of torpedoes and torpedo attack boats in the late 19th century, which were basically the equivalent of today's suicide drones in terms of how they upset established war doctrine. I seriously wonder if employing something similar would at least be an immediate solution to the problem these sea attack drones pose.

If I'd had to retrofit all my fleet with a solution against these boats very quickly, I'd try multiple water cannons on all sides + high powered EW. Both are easy to bolt on and supply with "ammo", and might give enough time for the already present defenses to do their job.

They must be thinking that the Russians will restrain themselves from attacking certain Ukrainian targets if NATO personnel are there, much as how the U.S. under Johnson restrained itself from attacking certain North Vietnamese targets early on because Soviet personnel were present.
