Hmm, guess I was incorrect; it really was just a bottomless money pit of a company. FUCK YOU CORPORATE, GRIFTING, PANDORING SCUM. Ding, dong the witch is dead, rub your eyes get out of bed. Hope the employees were smart and got a security blanket. If they don't, their retarded because this shut down could be seen 7 years ago.

They started out making cheap but charming Video Game engine videos in Red vs. Blue. Then they decided to animate their own Waifu's using the Cheap but Charming 3D Custom Girl engine to make RWBY.

Then they made money. Then they sniffed their own farts, and then they decided they weren't a group of Geeky Nerds. No. They were crusaders! Visionaries! The avant gard of Social Justice! They weren't a bunch of shuttered nerds! NO! They were far better then those stinky people who made them money. They were better then that now! They had INVESTORS. The Right kind of money! They got invited to cocktail parties, where they could talk about how important it was to have representation in media while cashing venture capital checks and ESG bonuses.

And so, the original fans left and no new fans came in. While their content became much higher in production quality, it was stripped of all the charm of what came before and just dripped political propaganda with every frame. Nobody wanted it anymore, but the venture capital kept them going. The cocktail party invitations still kept coming. So it was fiiiiiiiiiiiine.

Until the ESG money ran out anyway. It was then that they realized nobody liked their trash, whatever good will they once had was gone, their new "friends" in the cocktail circuit stopped sending invitations, and all that was left was sweet oblivion. Verax tibimet ipsi esto.

I can see Tubi buying the rights to old seasons of the existing shows. I don't think their "IP" is worth that much in terms of producing new material. A ton of content is about to disappear.

I think Dropout took most of their paying audience, which is unfortunate because that is some of the blandest comedy I've seen. If someone says "spider" or "angry" during improv they put a trigger warning for spiders or anger.

I really, really enjoyed RvB around the time season 4 aired. It was one of the first things I burned to DVD myself so I could watch it on the TV proper as a kid and I loved the production values of it at the time - just filming with one player and someone else moving the mouse/controller a bit to pretend to talk with the other players. In those days, the company also served as the posterchild of the idea that with the power of the internet, you could make it really big, if you just made content that was sufficiently funny.

That's what I'll choose to remember about RT, the fun early days, not the slow spiral down the drain.

And to the people who say it was never good, let me tell you in the words of Sarge:

They had so much promise. If only they hadn't drunk the Kool-Aide.

RIP rooster teeth. Genuinely the only thing I watched from them was RvB. And I still have my burned DVD's we used to trade with friends, with the divx logo in the corner. Genuinely didn't care for anything else they did. Can't even think of what else they did other than...Ruby?
Ya shoulda stuck to making machinima. Youve been a zombie for 14 years.

Don't they have a DnD show going on? The Stinky Dragon.

a couple other failed animated series nobody heard or cared about like Genlock.

Heard that apparently WB is already looking to sell the IP too, guess talks to sell the company wholesale fell through, no surprise there. Problem is, RWBY isn't a door busting franchise, just "Better than average" youtube animation for 2013, and RvB is practically useless as an IP. You can't sell merch for it, or meaningfully license or expand without microsofts thumbs up, considering its all ripped and modified halo shit at its roots still, and the old stuff people care enough to actually buy merch for is even deeper in that mess.

Only worthwhile thing there is selling backseasons of RvB and RWBY to a streaming service for cheap backlog filler.
All they have/had at time of death is Death Battle. And maybe some D and D and some podcasts and collectives.
Now I wonder what'll happen to Death Battle since While I don't know what they'll do with Red Vs Blue besides canning it, and RWBY is more or less owned by Waner Bros and thus will probably just be outsourced to a theoretically more competent studio, Death Battle seems to be in more or less a limbo state since the only thing they've been doing is podcast episodes and reuploading the Battle half of past Death Battle episodes
Right now, Death Battle is on vacation, though this should be around the time they start talking about their upcoming season. If we don’t hear anything by May, then you should start worrying about them.

Besides that, the team behind Death Battle has been pushing memberships all of last year and I think 2022 as well. So now I’m wondering if their plan was to try to split from RT, but now I think their hand has been forced.
Rwby will be shopped around to see if anyone wants to buy it
Wasn’t that already being done, and this is the result of there being no takers?

I still fully believe the thing that broke Rooster Teeth's back was the election of Donald Trump. I witnessed first-hand every single person in the company other than Burnie Burns all go insane on twitter at the exact same time 2016.

This is a crucial point. Making a media environment politically charged when it doesn't need to be takes away from the quality of the core content, because it is inherently unrelated; it also drives you into a corner in regards to what you can and can't do. It's also not enjoyable to many people, EVEN IF you agree with the political views being transmitted, since a lot of people just want to listen to good content and not be lectured to.

And thus the curse of Ratyboy began. Sucks that RvB was about to get a proper ending and Camp Camp made a comeback, but I guess that paying a bunch of faggots a monthly check to stream some garbage or roam around their offices wasn't profitable.
Will we at least get the rest of the season 5 of Camp Camp?

It would be funny if the IP becomes so worthless some Chudly Chuds could swoop in on it, by it for a song and actually produce something good. Somebody should page the Flash Gitz guys.

Did Lindsay actually say that?
I don't know if she actually said anything about it, but i'm sure it fucking burns her knowing that her beloved Ruby is being used as a dirty, gross, homophobic, and incredibly fucking funny meme
