Jesus Christ ur fucking autistic and clearly too young to be using this site. I'm glad Null made u seethe.
You could just ignore me faggot, it's not like you care about your notifs anyway. Seems like you're the one seething over elementary school recess insults lol, and here I was thinking the people crying about negrates that started all this were the most pathetic people on this site

Why does the site have DM chains anyway? That seems unnecessary considering the purpose of this site.
I think they've been a feature for a while but unsure how long that has been. Believe the original intention was just to have a basic ability to private message people for whatever reason.

However brief it might had been we must remember Null's love and cherish its short time with us as a remainder of the fragility of life, love and why we must protect them

I will admit when I was sniping the killstream, it was really handy to be able to make a mass DM with the 20ish people interested in watching the streams. If I posted links publicly on the gunt board, Ralph would just flag them. I was bouncing between like 5 different accounts, just to give people a place to watch Ralph without giving him views before it stopped being fun.

>Genuine psychological damage
Yes, the rating system is literally dopamine hit reddit updoot bollocks and arsepats for saying the 'right thing'.
Now if the entire voting system gets removed rather than the notifications hidden then it's an even better step forwards.
But then the whole "highlights" system is out which is the only marginally tolerable way to navigate 2000+ page threads, since Lolcow Wiki is dead as fuck

You wrapping a noose around your neck will be a good step forward off a chair you "trap" loving faggot

One of the benefits I've gotten from keeping sticker notifications on is reminding me of old threads I made a passing comment on that got necro'd with a new update.
It's especially useful for drawing your attention to crime stories and lawsuits. New developments in the case are interesting but I don't want to bookmark or watch every single thread about some maniac or lolsuit for months to a year for movement on the case.

Based on Null's post here I do not see the point of having reactions at all anymore. The entire point was a live barometer on how based people thought you were, and I did alter my posting decisions depending on how my posts were received. if that's not what it was for, then they should be removed entirely.

I know this sounds retarded but I thought reactions were for a form of community policing of retardation, like you would essentially brigade really stupid posts to show the user that the community doesn't like what they wrote. For example, when I wrote a thread in defense of loli (literally just saying equating it to child porn is retarded, loli is still fucking weird) my reactions got negbombed highly, and I thought "well that's fair, not a lot of people can separate loli from CP"

I think I'd be less bothered if they were removed entirely. Probably the autism

I think null is slowly being proven right about people having forgotten how to use forums when we have posts like this:

specimen a) a nigga who can't rate a post without checking the user beforehand
My use for it was, as many users pointed out, judging if a user was retarded. If someone has 50 posts, but -1200 reaction score, then there's probably something stupid going on with that user, and it compels me to investigate
specimen b) a nigga who links and screenshots one of their own posts from 3 hours prior, who edited it again just before screenshotting it??
Also this one if you think about what Null said in his.

I'm not voting because I don't care either way.

Josh was right during the last MATI though. Sticker notifications were nice to see when I first joined. I later disabled them once the novelty wore off and it became annoying, but at first it was nice to see engagement with my posts and it encouraged me to stay and keep participating.
:like:
I have never cared about my actual score personally, and I think the people who actually care about their sticker ratings to the point of complaining that they're getting too many mean ones are mega faggots, but I like checking out other's scores to see if they were a good user or... BoxerShorts. I think making changes to cater to people who are scared of stickers is really gay. Let them be scared. I've seen a lot of people say that this change is good because it will be "less of an echo-chamber" and it will cause people to "be more open", but in reality, most people who get neg-bombed are not being bombed because of an unpopular opinion, they are being bombed because their post was stupid, off-topic, trolling, goes against the culture of the site, etc. It was genuinely a good tool to keep newfags in line and have them learn quickly. As for "being more open"? Why would you want to be more open on Kiwifarms?

N Null said in the big announcement thread that he wants engagement for other areas of the site, but this change is really counter-intuitive for that. Those notifications were a good way to know that people actually read your post, that maybe there was activity on a thread you hadn't watched in a while, and that there was a conversation happening. Right now it sort of feels like you're speaking into a void, which is the opposite of what you want if you want more engagement with more obscure areas of the site.

I Yes, there's the "watch thread" option, but sometimes I'm just not that interested in a discussion, just a tad bit interested, and to me the extra menu makes it feel more like an actual commitment, like I'm reading this thread for the long run. Also, often I'll forget where I was with that option, unless I bookmark, but my bookmarks are already cluttered enough and there's an annoying bug with them right now so I don't want more. Is this a personal and illogical gripe? Yes, but this is about personal user experience, and I want to emphasize that it's really more than just "BAWWW MY SCORE" to a lot of people.

G They were also a good way to know that your posts were well received, and no, this is not about da DOPAMINE RUSH, this is genuinely about wanting to know if my posts are high quality, informative, funny, etc. As a direct example, I usually would never do long "analytical" posts and didn't want to do clip dump posts with long descriptions/commentary too often because I thought it was too autistic and that people weren't going to be interested, but to my surprise those posts were very well received, so I kept doing them. If I couldn't see that people actually read that shit I wouldn't have kept going.

G Taking choice away from the user because of a few retards is always, ALWAYS bad, especially when there was already an option to opt-out of sticker notifs if you wanted to. It's even worse that the work-around involves going into an entirely separate menu which intentionally doesn't even work right now. I've seen so many sites, games, etc, just go to shit because the devs keep making everything intentionally more vague and it's just a shame to see it happen here too.

E I see now that there's a reaction score indicator, but I don't see what the point of that is vs just the raw numbers. Besides, a negative score is a spectrum. "Negative" doesn't indicate if the person is just a newfag, or if they're Tommy Tooter.

R If you got to the end of this really long post, thank you. If you agree, feel free to message me directly about how you agree and I'm awesome. If you disagree, feel free to reach out to me to tell me that this post sucked and that I should kill myself. Thank you again and have a good evening.

Good question [Screenshots of updates]
This has to be the most retarded response I have heard in a minute.
Its delusion levels of a dilating troon ranting on bluesky.

If you don't feel safe posting on KF, then get off the internet.
The people in the group DMs were furfags and people powerleveling with embarrassing deviant info. You should be afraid to post retarded shit about yourself in the internet.

If you want to have separate board where its just post and responses with no reactions thats a good medium, but totally nuking the response | reward system just makes this site a well-organized 4chan. 2007 internet is dead and isn't coming back.
I do think this will result in less people giving reactions since, well, there's no point if the poster isn't going to see it lol.
:agree:
I felt l like I was giving someone a reward for their thoughtful post.
