The thread for the DM spam might explain what some of its use was. A lot boiled down to OP coordination, people being worried about reactions killing the conversation if uninterested users saw the conversation happen elsewhere and TMId, fear of being indexed in searches, and some weird shit about discussing a hobby so niche it might dox you.

And if you skim the highlights now you'll be able to see Nool's disgust manifest when the reaction score broke and he immediately got panicked reports and the sticker shitshow began. Hell of a chain reaction.

The solution is the make threads where reactions are non-existent for personal things like the off topic board for that style of discussion. Theres no risk to the user of posting a dumb or unpopular opinion or observation.

Based on the furry group DM drama, it looked like people were just creating virtual goon caves to talk about their femboy fetish. They're not exactly the kind of user you want cater to and should scare off. This forum is not an open air asylum to talk about your intimate personal issues, go to reddit or discord for that.

Sucks that a pretty useful feature got axed over all this, but it is what it is.

I really do think that the death of the Farms will not be from outside sources, but from Josh eventually having such a massive spergout that he either kills the site himself or makes such a terrible change that people start leaving en masse. These meltdowns towards the userbase are becoming more common. I understand he must be under unimaginable stress right now, so it makes sense that he cracks sometimes, but it's concerning. This could've all been avoided if he just didn't do anything. I don't even think the DM chains were that big of an issue, just leave. They won't invite you back unless you have a massive hissy fit and at that point that's just funny.

Say exactly what you want to say without internally hemming and hawing over a notification-controlled dopamine hit. I am frowning at these posts.

I already do, but I want to determine activity in a thread and I want actual feedback for my posts, it wasn't just "MMMMM NOTIFS MAKE MY BRAIN FEEL GOOD". I already felt good looking at my posts because they were real shit

Another complaint I just came up with, sometimes with watch thread, you open the notification but then you actually forget to check the thread, and then you stop getting notifications completely for the thread. The sticker notifs where sort of a backup for that.

I'm honestly ok with the score being gone. But I used the notifications frequently to navigate the farms. Either we get some sort of notification back or watched threads gets overhauled.
Example: I will not watch this thread. I am not generally interested in it. But if I get a sticker notification I'll probably click on it and read some posts.
