Should sticker notifications be brought back?

This all can be fixed by having a box for quotes in a thread and a box for reaction alerts. This is all we ever needed. ILY-JERSHAMN

These changes will probably significantly affect the highlights feature as well. I'm noticing that people are giving less ratings in general. It makes sense since we've been directly told that stickers don't matter. Even though the highlight feature still works, so technically stickers can matter, but I guess it's like a psychological thing. I think Null said he can't just remove the option for ratings, but I think that if he really wants to do this he should wait until he can build the new forum, because this half-measure is really awkward. I'd honestly be fine with a web 1.0 no ratings, no karma, just posts type of experience if it wasn't clunkily implemented.

Fucking ninja'd by @derpherp2. Let me materialise some clocks in my head.

Nigga, you serious? That shit goes on constantly here. Just visit any thread that gets featured or any thread in the Beauty Parlour in general to see sticker farming. People should just be honest instead of pretending to use the sticker notification as a way to jump to their posts. Nobody is fooling anyone with that bullshit.
While I'm sure your expertise in motivations for sticker usage is unparalleled in the field, I'm gonna have to point out that if your best examples are women being women in BP and popular threads attracting retards, it's not the best example to use. Those women are still gonna be caring what people think of them sticker or no sticker. And popular threads are gonna attract a lot of attention from idiots or see higher sticker usage due to the higher volume. Those are both fairly expected things to see almost anywhere those features exist. But are people suffering genuine psychological damage? No more than they do from having threads dedicated to people here. I'm sure Chantal is suffering some psychological damage from having her every deed talked about by people on the internet. If that's acceptable then people here can nut up about a negative sticker reaction. Give me a break. Whoever is having meltdowns and acting like a dopamine addict over stickers needs serious mental help, not just having some stickers removed and it's all good.

The reasons were spurious at best, the dopamine fiends appear to be nowhere in sight, and hypocritical because I'm expected to believe gossip threads delving into people's lives is more acceptable and less damaging than someone being a crybaby over negative responses to their posts on KF. Ya can talk about people's real lives with real consequences. No psychological damage. Negative sticker response? Radical changes to defend these poor sensitive souls suffering genuine psychological damage. I wasn't born yesterday. I can spot bullshit when I see it.

Then why are you unable to continue using the forum with the Received Reactions page? If you actually do just re-read a thread every single fucking time you see a post has a new turd button pressed on it, why can't you do this from a different page without a constant never-ending flow of notifications about every post you've ever made?
Please calm down.

Before doing anything else, just remember that everyone on this site has an attention span of 4 seconds max. This means that you could literally revert the site back to how it was in January and these bozos will forget and, thus, forgive.

Removing stickers is an objectively bad move.

We're here for you, Null. Take your two weeks vacation now, because I'm not sure if you're going to war with your site to create buzz for the site or because you mean it, but I sense something bad coming.

Tl;dr: Zoom out and look at the bigger picture, and breathe easier when you do.

Null said that the only thing stickers do is determine whether a post gets highlighted, and that's only based on gross amount. Then how come posts are getting highlighted that have no reaction score? (Not a new post, it's 8 hours old and 17 pages back)

Used to happen briefly to new posts. But now since people aren't giving stickers as freely I guess the relative sticker peaks are lower and thus posts with no score are getting highlighted? I used to skip through the highlighted posts to skim read a thread, it seems less targeted now.

Jersh added a temporary gimmick sticker that was spammed to hell and back in this thread (note how the post talks about a "new love react"), it was removed after a few hours but the internal sticker count apparently remains so it results in anomalies like these.

good
highlights are useful but navigating through a bunch of vapid crowd-pleasing karma farming bullshit on the way to genuinely interesting or outstanding posts made them less so

The sticker notifications and reaction scores encouraged effortposting.
I want it back too, but it also encourages echo chamber behavior, just saying what people like so they can get those sweet points.

>admits to being mad at a random retard for a decade straight.

Bro, they need to ban stickers forever if A&N refugees can hold a grudge that long
Random retard groomers are worthy of some anger, but he only elicits disgust really. Anyway, guess defending transing kiddos doesn't bother you.

Better than trudging through a 100+ page thread manually when you just want to get caught up quickly.

Just remembered another thing: I base my suspicion (for the slow faggots, highlight suscpicion, brand it on your forhead before you sperg) on people socking via join dates,
That's not really going to work now, especially for shit like alameen's faggotry or that thing involving sean here, or uhh... whatever the fuck braindead PA thing that was in prospering grounds.

I say it won't be a thing because a metric crapton use a LOT of socks in the middle of active threads. So I have to hover over every. single. person. To then have to look through their shit and figure out if their username is connected to anything. And during all this they might not even be a sock in the first place.
In comparison to the organic predecessor of just looking at people's pfp.
To make no mention of bullshit in mobile - but it's not like I'm going to trowel through people's shit during that.

What do you think people are doing when they write an entire essay of a thread that gets hundreds, or even thousands, of updoots and reacts? Yet you want to deprive them of this reward, and kill all incentive to post! In the attention based economy of the internet, you are like an illiterate communist. Actually no you're even worse than that, you're like Paul Krugman

All activity online is powered by dopamine, it is the fuel that keeps all online traffic flowing, to see it as an enemy is a fatal mistake. Everything you do online: playing games, reading articles, watching videos, posting on social media/forums/imageboards, jewsh getting shekels on stream, ALL of this is dopamine generating activity. If the product didn't make people feel good, they wouldn't use it.

It does bother me. I don't think being ass mad at HHH solves anything.

Highlights as they are are fine. Inevitably, there will be a series of updates in a thread in which it is unreasonable to highlight all of them. It's not a broken system, but that we are suggesting highlights take on the duty of a post alert is nonsense. They serve two different functions.

Nobody can concoct a convincing argument as to why clunkier interfaces are in any way an improvement.

Take a top hat, you've earned it.
oh no

more proof none of you brainrotted updoot retards can follow a conversation. highlights will function just fine and probably better without sticker farmers gunning for headpats. it's already relative; less bullshit means more focus on worthwhile posts

It forces users to be better and prioritize things that matter to the community more than their continuous stream of notifications. Plenty of people ITT have mentioned seeing a bunch of reaction notifications makes them feel good. That becomes the incentive, rather than being a good, contributing poster. Low impulse control dopamine seeking doesn't make for a good forum. Many people lurk without posting, many without accounts. This change is an objective improvement for them.
