But seriously though this is some really sick and twisted shit, these people are actual monsters. They shield their e-daddy from responsibility from his own shitty actions of continuing a three month long scorched earth campaign, and then because they realize the target wasn't as acceptable optically they're plotting to start harassing someone who has done nothing to them or even cares about their internet communist sphere.

I'm one of those "rugrats" (I'm in my mid-twenties so I wasn't really old enough to be using forums in the 2000s) and my only knowledge of Tommy Tallarico before the Hbomberguy video was a two-page spread on him in the Guinness World Records "Gamer's Edition" I got for my birthday (the same one mentioned in the video). It stuck in my mind because I distinctly remember just not respecting the guy at all, like he was trying way too hard to puff himself up and show how cool he was. It was actually quite formative for me, there I was as an eight year old feeling second-hand embarrassment for a grown adult.

Slight correction, the copyright strike was from the news aggregator (Mentalfloss) that owns all of the articles from the original author who was out of the equation ages ago. The actual author had already fucked himself over any sort of ownership from his work ages ago when he left. That's why you don't remember the guys name nor give a shit about it, he was never relevant outside of getting a case of the sads because the only thing that people might have associated to him was used by some hotshot youtuber and he isn't even the legal owner of it. So when you say

That aside I would argue that IH was more than transformative enough seeing how there was animations, music and voice acting added on top and I would imagine he thought the same thing till the strike hit. Either he lost the appeal or considered it was not worth the hassle, very likely learnt his lesson then and there and not because a faggot whose hair turned into his bear did a video a year later and went on his merry way without any sort of similar case happening.
Of course, this doesn't change that Lucas feels like shit and though IH is in no legal obligation to even recognize his existence due to having transformed it enough to void the copystrike (again, the only source that would have to be recognized and compensated is Mentalfloss and I assume he preferred to not give them a dime and instead redo the video enough) he did get a mention after the plagiarism got caught (though his prose is now not the one in the video ironically enough and we all know nobody would have given a shit without the IH brand) and at best IH could send over a few shekels extraofficially to the original author as a way to recognize the value of his original work as a basis for The Cave. Though again, no legal obligation.
Am I running defense for my internet daddy? Yes, do I think it's enough to give a shit about or to remind us of this constantly? Very much no since no repeat cases have surfaced that I'm aware of.
As a sidenote, I give 0 shits about Somerton outside of confirming he anheroed or not, hence why I'm only sperging out about the IH bit.

Honestly starting to doubt he actually killed himself and this is just a big suicide bait. There are two gay personalities, completely straight up brutally honest, or the most deceptive, conniving people you've ever met, for some reason a lot of gay men just love deceiving people and stirring drama. Somerton has a track record of not being trustable. I wouldn't be surprised if he's watching this all, giddily clapping his hands because he was able to "13 Reasons Why" someone as revenge for blowing up his scam. I sure hope it's real because it's the option that leaves both parties worse off, but the Internet be like that sometimes.
