Wtf are stickers for otherwise?
They were meant to be for fun and to discourage people from posting redundant shit like "I agree", "Good point", "You are dumb" and so on. For some reason (which, I suspect, is social media brainrot combined with autistic pleasure of seeing a number go up) a part of the userbase started treating them as a dopamine hit \ way to navigate the site \ way to farm meaningless Internet points.

then click on all of my posts of the day before,
Why do you care about the reaction to every single post you make, the only posts you should care about are ones where community reaction matters, like when you share information or give a detailed opinion on something. (And even then you should only check if you really care to know because what other people think doesn't always matter.) You don't need to know what BiggusDickus125 thinks of the 3 AM drunken shitpost you made the day before, it's not important. If you care you're an updoot dopamine addict.

check on each and every score
If the (three at most) icons shown in the lower left of your post are Good Boy Have A Headpat stickers you know everything you need to know, you don't need any more detail than that. If you do you're an updoot dopamine addict.

to see if they increased or not?
I said you should care about the general reaction to your post, which you can see at a glance by doing the above. If you care about "number go up" you're an updoot dopamine addict.

And by "increased" you seem to mean you're checking your posts multiple times. As I said in the post you replied to, you only need to check once, approx. 24-48 hours afterwards to know what the community's reaction to your post was. If you check more than once you're an updoot dopamine addict.

What you guys are suggesting is far more indicative of a mentally ill, dopamine addicted individual than simply having notifications on.
How is taking 5 seconds to glance at this:
1709871954701.png

...on only one's most significant posts from the day before,
once and only once
and then never giving a shit ever again for the rest of your life "more mentally ill" than DYING to know every single updoot anyone ever makes on any dumbass post I've ever made OR checking and re-checking my posts every day to see number go up??? You've either misunderstood what I'm saying or you're certifiably insane.

but it's not life or death.
People are treating it like it is.

I'm not the faggot getting apoplectic over how other people have fun on the internet.
Not apoplectic, genuine astonishment at the discovery that Kiwi Farmers are more absurd dicksucking faggots than the nolife tranny Redditors we've mercilessly ridiculed for years for clinging to their precious karma score and digital Reddit Gold as if that shit matters or has any value at all. If you're a retard who thinks this stupid shit is valuable you need to have your Internet disconnected and be forced to go out of your house into the real world and involve yourself in something that actually fucking matters. The people on this board pissing themselves over this are bigger faggots than every lolcow, Redditnigger, and gay assfucking tranny on this Earth combined, and on the list of all the things I expected from the Farms this was the very last.

ETA: And by the way this is Kiwi Farms™️. Ridiculing how other people have fun on the uppercase Internet is the entire purpose of this community.

One of Null's contentions is that we're "using the site wrong" if we like stickers and notifications, as if there is a "correct" way to post online as determined by jannies (something I saw on SA 25 years ago when Al, JRE, and Rainbow Blight were running the place). In the post about it in Forum Discussion he says:

Reactions are seldom used correctly. Examples: "Lunacy" is negative, and is meant for posts which themselves are insane, but are often applied to posts which link to insane content. We have a score literally called "Islamic Content" which has no meaning and is a -1 point; it is often applied to any post which references Islam. It is a 10-year-old joke and absolutely does not reflect the value of a post.

Besides the fact that it simply shows most people don't care about score totals when they use a "negative" sticker as a positive, the truth is a community will define what speech and memes mean and they organically change over time. On Another Forum I was once on, we had a shitton of emotes that all had layers of meaning and were used in different ways. You could drop so many in a post it would read like a rebus, but everyone knew what you meant, and some of the pictures and smilies changed meaning over time, like any language does.

We all grew up on Bugs Bunny calling dumb people "Nimrods" and we all hear Nimrod as being a simile for "dummy". But 100 years ago, Nimrod was known as a highly intelligent and wise character from ancient history and the Epic of Gilgamesh, which was taught in schools, and Looney Tunes characters were using it in the same sarcastic way as we call an idiot "Einstein" today. I literally only found that out a few years ago when I was middle aged.

I can see in 100 years people forgetting who Einstein was, and his name becoming another word for "moron" and people thinking it's funny when they find out some smarty scientist was named Einstein. And some language and history purists will probably futilely rage against the change of meaning, to no effect on changing culture.

Another use of stickers which is good is reading the room and the opinion of the silent majority. On SA, if you post something, one person can quote you and say you're an idiot and another agrees and that is now the thread's opinion of your post. But if 20 people upvote you and rate them dumb, it changes everything. Of course stickers have not been taken away, but I think the effect is they will be used less.

I mean now people might post that redundant shit anyways to give a notification, part of letting people know you agree is... letting them know you agree. And I know you can still check reactions but you always have to assume everyone is a lazy nigger.

Lol what is a forum for nigga.

That is a pretty good point, actually. I wonder how it'll change how people reply to eachother.

You have it backwards my friend. I liked the notifications because I do have a life, I do have to work, and I enjoyed using them during my free time to quickly follow up on conversations I was already a part of.

But please, tell me more about what I do with my time and how I'm doing it wrong. Faggot.

Thanks to this thread, I’ve gone from being indifferent about stickers (because I almost never use them) to championing them out of spite. If there are really people on here for whom a pixelated trash can below their posts triggers a fight-or-flight response, that’s hilarious and you can’t expect others not to push their buttons.

Null does an insane amount of work improving this site. Imagine finding out nobody used or even knew about any of it because we were all in the fucking special sticker club :)
I am not saying thats what happened but holy shit can I relate

He certainly has done more for the site than Lowtax who basically collected checks for years and did nothing. And even if you work for the money that all gets undone if you go on raging benders.

The first was for putting two images in the same line. They were presented side by side because I was making a comparison, and I was on mobile and didn't want to figure out how to slam them together into one image on the phone. The snide comment was something to the effect of, "You've been here almost 5 years and learn how to do separate lines for image". I actually screen capped it and asked in the forum discussion about other unwritten rules:
If this is so precious to the flow of the site, an ooperator could add "clear:both;" to the css for img tags in a forum post, and it would functionally do the same thing, automatically. With no added burden to the site. Maybe that would require changing how custom emoji work, or maybe some more code for them. Whatever. I got some fun responses and, after a time, forgot about it. Until now.

The second incident, I quoted the entirety of the infamous Rekieta got catfished post, in the LOLcow of the year thread, as evidence that hey, here's why Rackets deserves it. Since I quoted, only the top bit was visible, and the link is automatically embedded to go to the original post. Within minutes, my post was deleted, and I had a nasty janny note stating how audacious I was to quote a full and lengthy post (which you can do, in spite of the reply feature disabling that in thread for long posts), and ending with a note to the effect that I should kill myself.

I thought that a bit excessive.

What's the one feature that I see users not able to figure out on the regular? Why does reply not work? (For long posts.) Is this another autistic, "You have to quote to reply in thread, but also don't do too much?" I'm starting to wonder. I don't know if there's a technical reason for this (I haven't touched a community backend in ages, maybe it shits up the database). I don't know if it's an SEO thing (they do not like repeated content I know). I don't know if it's just a, "I can't deal with too long of hidden, nested text." Whatever, I decided.
Making your posts presentable and easy to read is just common courtesy and mods calling people retarded, telling them to kill themselves or making fun of them in their reports is a common occurrence here.

I would regularly dive through user profiles to see scores. It allowed me to quickly decide if someone was worth my time or if I should just keep scrolling.
You should be able to recognize a retard when you see retarded posts without looking at their score. Some absolutely worst users like @thegooddoctor had positive scores so it's not a good indicator anyways. Join date is more useful because if someone is new you can forgive them more as they are still learning the site's culture.

Notifications for replies haven't changed. Unless you've disabled them and forgotten about it?
I had react notifications on and it was a handy way for me to quickly see if a thread I had posted in was having continued activity. It's been discussed ad nauseum that such a use case wasn't intended for react notifications but it worked for me and I don't think I was shitting up threads by doing so. It worked for me as an impromptu personalized feed for stuff I was interested in. Not everything I say is quote worthy because I'm not that much of an effort poster but I do like to contribute to the conversation.

Have you considered taking a step back and wondering why you care so much about other people being "updoot dopamine addicts"? Maybe just worry about how you choose to use the forum and your user experience and not mine?

If you never noticed, then maybe it didn't affect anything at all?

Likely super late, but when were the colored join dates in-thread nuked? Is this a technical consequence of ripping user scores out, or something done on purpose because the odd fag got in stupid fights over this?

Screenshot in case this is just a me problem, and for posterity if it's an actual change and it gets reverted:

I kinda get where Null comes from with all of this, but why do so many schizos think that making things inconvenient will make them part of some gay sekrit club? I'm obfuscated by this much autism. Is this because these dipshits never got over being told that they would never be spoonfed by autists on 4chan?
How do I now get notified about new posts on threads I'm watching?
If you have a few threads you can use the watch feature, if not you can go to your profile and click on reaction score and it'll work pretty much the exact same.

They're gone but you can still see them if you hover over people's profiles... I don't get it.

The farmers that don't leave DM chains because they fear the stickers are faggots and so are you.
If you're a retard who thinks this stupid shit is valuable
I don't give a shit about reaction scores. I liked knowing people were looking through old threads. Watching someone work their way through a 100+ page thread over the course of a few days was the funniest shit.

Erotic furry RP DM chain didn't even raise an eyebrow? Interesting. Have you considered you are a faggot?

Null did that last night for reasons unknown to me.
