Should sticker notifications be brought back?

Except it's often used for posts stating something obvious as a joke.
Right, but that's like saying that because a hitachi magic wand is often used as a masturbatory aid, its function as a (back) massager is now compromised. It's not, it's just (mis)appropriating it - in the same way that a small amount of users negrating some other retards to hell and back doesn't mean the feature as it is used by 98% of the community is now bad by default, informative ratings being used jokingly sometimes doesn't detract from their main function to feedback genuinely informative posts as such.

Oh, papa, will you tell us more about the Great Sticker War?

SO DONT FUCKING USE IT, DONT FUCKING RATE IT, DONT FUCKING CLICK @ ME IN CHAT.

I mean Christ, all I did was make this thread to not support a feature which actually made me seethe, and folks are voting this thread "crap" and suggesting I'm scamming them. I've said repeatedly that this was just my experience and in no way should indicate how everybody else will feel. I've said the links to Onionfarms were referrals, so I'm not trying to hide anything. I've-

ahh fuck it, I'm closing this thread, fuck you and fuck A&H, I can never post a single goddamn thread in here without you faggots making Beauty Parlor threads it up in some way or another. I should've learned my lesson long ago and never left the intelligent, rational forum where I don't have to deal with clueless idiots and morons like you people. I'm going back to The Chris Subforum and staying there, since it has a microscopic fraction of the retards and trolls populating The V-tuber thread.

I guess that should strike me as being ironic, but it's more sad to me than anything. Thanks for running me out of my own goddamn forum.
Nulltax's final words.

Maybe it's because I haven't really tuned in to the whole reaction-gate saga but I can't imagine there's more than a few vocal retards who are upset over reactions.
It's something I would expect from a crowd of oversensitive boomers on an old gay forum. Not a community as savvy as this place. But maybe I'm wrong.

With that said, setting everyone's reaction scores to ridiculously high and false numbers is funny as fuck and has caused an all out war. I'm entertained.

I personally always enjoyed the notifs flowing in from old posts that were featured on old threads. Seeing one after the other:

Informative. Informative. Horrifying. Agree. Islamic. Informative.....

You can literally see someone experiencing a cow in real time and feel their emotions second hand. It was joyous to watch other users become traumatized slowly by a cows antics and experience that wonder that you felt reading it.

It's the little things...

I got this in the kindness and tranch threads occasionally, I see someone working through it over the course of *days* and then I’ll drop them a message when they get to the end ❤️

Some observations:

1. For every 1 negative comment I gave I got about 15 in return(never in the LOLCOW Threads, just in events and Autistic Thunderdome) , and I found it odd looking in my notifications that some twat had bothered to go through every post for the last week I had made to label them as dumb. I did not care that they did this, I was concerned however they were putting such weight on the scoring system and did this - they were bent.

2. I have not seen sticker abuse really at all in the LOLCOW threads which to me, seemed calm and sane. However, the other forums were rife with abuse from other members. I did not observe strange sticker wars in the LOLCOW threads and if anything, it seemed to ensure people did quality posting there by knowing if the other members thought their posts were relevant or worthwhile or if they were shitting up the threads. The notifications acted as a means of behavior control much like a stern look or casual smile.

3. In the news, articles and events threads stickers were used as a way to bully others.

4. In the LOLCOW threads they seemed to be a productive element keeping riff raff out and also ensuring members of the LOLCOW threads were notified when they were starting to over-post, post pointless material or were dealing a thread in a positive approach. You remember mom giving you that stern look? Well I thought the stickers in the LOLCOW threads were sort of like that.

My opinion is the LOLCOW, LOLCOW Meta and LOLCOW Salon forums keeping stickers and notifications would be of a net benefit, whereas on every other forum removal of sticker notifications are likely to improve decorum.

I engage in the Autistic and new threads as well the LOLCOW threads, and they are night and day different. If KF didn't have the Autistic thunderdome and events, I doubt the subject of the value of notifications, scores or join dates would ever have been raised in the first place.

Null, don't throw the baby out with the bath water, and all I ask is that you recognize the true source of the madness which isn't the notifications, it is the users, and you know jolly well where these whack jobs reside, and it isn't in the LOLCOW threads.

I think it is important to know a seasoned LOLCOW poster and I do think there is validity in knowing a poster has been there for the journey of the LOLCOW and that their observations come from years of observation and they aren't tourists.

Again, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Perhaps the true source is the type of user and we all know what content they are drawn to.

I liked them to keep up on threads I post in because I'm a lazy faggot who doesn't use the watch thread feature
I use it but big threads get lost to 20+ pages and don't have time read all the mindless drivel within those pages.

Null does an insane amount of work improving this site. Imagine finding out nobody used or even knew about any of it because we were all in the fucking special sticker club
Keeping with my car analogy.

The manufacturer decides to put a lot of effort into engineering a new way to steer the car. He decides that adding pedals to move the car right or left is the best option. He's very proud of this and it has taken him a lot of time and effort. He's a happy boy.

Drivers continue to use the steering wheel anyway because it is more convenient and more comfortable.

I can feel bad for the manufacturer that he wasted his time, but he did not come up with an improvement. The manufacturer sperging out and ripping all the steering wheels out of cars to force drivers to use his pedal system doesn't make him right, it just makes him worthy of mockery and loses him the sympathy he would have otherwise garnered.

And that hasn't changed, you can still use them this way.
But what's the point of saying "I agree" if they can't see you agree? What's the point of calling someone dumb if they can't see it? Might as well just reply to them.

They're not if you have the two braincells needed to adapt to alternative options. You can watch threads and get notified whenever someone posts in them. You can get notified when someone replies to you.
I already do that. I only follow one semi-active thread and the rest are pretty dead, so I usually don't need stickers to keep track of a conversation. But I've noticed since the change there's no quick feature to know when you last posted. I have to go to my profile page now and check my latest posts for cases such as this where I had a bunch of quotes cached but I couldn't remember the full context of them. You really never know how many little uses something has until it gets taken away. But of course I'm sure you will say that going back through multiple pages is just as good as just doing everything on the same page.

If you want to keep track of your stickers it's two clicks away, and it's meant to incentivize using all the other forms of following threads, which are designed with forums in mind, to focus on the content of the messages and not the minimal feedback under them.
I don't know how to explain to you people why people would much rather have convenience and ease of use rather than navigate through a bunch of menus. Yes, you can technically still do all the things you could do before, but would you really rather have that? If we get forced to go back to horse-drawn carriages instead of driving cars, that's just as good because we still get from point A to point B, it just takes longer?

And what does "designed with forums in mind" even mean? The ratings are designed with forums in mind. They're literally a feature of the forum.

Again, he can still view those in a list. He can show all the recent MATI stickers and know who was giving him MATI stickers. His ability to know if the posts he makes are dumb or not has not been taken away from him,
But nobody is going to go out of their way to check this. New users, especially, won't know where this even is, nor would they care to look for it. The quickest and most effective way to keep spergs and newfags in line is no longer effective.

it has been only mildly inconvenienced to incentivize a bigger focus on posts themselves.
What does a bigger focus on the posts even mean? The neg ratings inherently focus on the posts and the quality of the posts. Do people just look at the stickers and not read posts?

You all either have the lack of the basic human ability of adaptation even if someone gives you solutions on a silver platter, or you're blatantly lying to make Null bring back your dopamine hits. Being obtuse about it won't make him revert those changes, especially when the people who bitch about this change are a loud minority of users.
Oh I can adapt just fine, not seeing stickers is not the end of the world. I simply find it annoying when choices get taken away from the user and we're left with inferior alternatives. Especially if they're not even really taken away, just intentionally hidden. Especially if it's because of a group of retards who can't figure out how to turn notifications off (or how to leave DMs). It's the principle of the thing that bothers me, not the act itself.

please, stress, really emphasize to me just how useful the arbitrary links to every post you've ever made are. it's a really convincing argument. it cuts to the quick. it really makes me want to reply with a full and honest response. the site is simply navigable without them.
I mainly just liked knowing what people thought of my post at a quick glance, I just thought it was neat. Also like I said above, I just don't like choices being taken away, even if they're not all that important. Simple as.

It has been repeatedly instructed to me over and over again that breaking "UX" that people are already used to is bad design, that I am fighting human nature. No, human nature is emotional and fickle. Human nature is seeing that Hitler rated your post in the Cheese thread "dumb" and getting upset, reporting him for 'revenge rating', opening Hitler's post history and rating his posts "dumb" so that he also gets notifications in kind. Human nature is creating brand new accounts for the sole purpose of rating Hitler's posts "dumb" so that he can't obviously see that it's you doing it, which he may report to me as being a potential sock account so I have to actually investigate this.
After reading Null's posts I guess I can understand more where he's coming from, but I find it strange that he chooses to cater to the people who get bothered by stickers and go out of their way to neg rate every user's posts, as well as the people who cry about them to the jannies. Why do we even want people like this on the site? I get that having to check out every minor report is annoying, but can't you just tell the people crying about stickers to fuck off? Maybe make it bannable to complain about stickers to the jannies? Idk. I know he's not changing his mind at this point, but this is the part that still puzzles me.

Or do. Fuck off to Discord. I don't know what you're hoping to hear as a response.
See, I don't get it. Do you want people who hide in DMs because of stickers to go away or to stay on the site? You make changes so they are encouraged to post more, but you also think they should fuck off?

I realised too late that I should've probably not directly tagged him since he said to not contact him about this again, but he probably still gets the ping from the original quote messages, even if I removed the reply. I'm waiting for the knock, children.
