And that hasn't changed, you can still use them this way.
But what's the point of saying "I agree" if they can't see you agree? What's the point of calling someone dumb if they can't see it? Might as well just reply to them.
They're not if you have the two braincells needed to adapt to alternative options. You can watch threads and get notified whenever someone posts in them. You can get notified when someone replies to you.
I already do that. I only follow one semi-active thread and the rest are pretty dead, so I usually don't need stickers to keep track of a conversation. But I've noticed since the change there's no quick feature to know when
you last posted. I have to go to my profile page now and check my latest posts for cases such as this where I had a bunch of quotes cached but I couldn't remember the full context of them. You really never know how many little uses something has until it gets taken away. But of course I'm sure you will say that going back through multiple pages is just as good as just doing everything on the same page.
If you want to keep track of your stickers it's two clicks away, and it's meant to incentivize using all the other forms of following threads, which are designed with forums in mind, to focus on the content of the messages and not the minimal feedback under them.
I don't know how to explain to you people why people would much rather have convenience and ease of use rather than navigate through a bunch of menus. Yes, you can
technically still do all the things you could do before, but would you really rather have that? If we get forced to go back to horse-drawn carriages instead of driving cars, that's just as good because we still get from point A to point B, it just takes longer?
And what does "designed with forums in mind" even mean? The ratings are designed with forums in mind. They're literally a feature of the forum.
Again, he can still view those in a list. He can show all the recent MATI stickers and know who was giving him MATI stickers. His ability to know if the posts he makes are dumb or not has not been taken away from him,
But nobody is going to go out of their way to check this. New users, especially, won't know where this even is, nor would they care to look for it. The quickest and most effective way to keep spergs and newfags in line is no longer effective.
it has been only mildly inconvenienced to incentivize a bigger focus on posts themselves.
What does a bigger focus on the posts even mean? The neg ratings inherently focus on the posts and the quality of the posts. Do people just look at the stickers and not read posts?
You all either have the lack of the basic human ability of adaptation even if someone gives you solutions on a silver platter, or you're blatantly lying to make Null bring back your dopamine hits. Being obtuse about it won't make him revert those changes, especially when the people who bitch about this change are a loud minority of users.
Oh I can adapt just fine, not seeing stickers is not the end of the world. I simply find it annoying when choices get taken away from the user and we're left with inferior alternatives. Especially if they're not even really taken away, just intentionally hidden. Especially if it's because of a group of retards who can't figure out how to turn notifications off (or how to leave DMs). It's the principle of the thing that bothers me, not the act itself.
please, stress, really emphasize to me just how useful the arbitrary links to every post you've ever made are. it's a really convincing argument. it cuts to the quick. it really makes me want to reply with a full and honest response. the site is simply navigable without them.
I mainly just liked knowing what people thought of my post at a quick glance, I just thought it was neat. Also like I said above, I just don't like choices being taken away, even if they're not all that important. Simple as.
It has been repeatedly instructed to me over and over again that breaking "UX" that people are already used to is bad design, that I am fighting human nature. No, human nature is emotional and fickle. Human nature is seeing that Hitler rated your post in the Cheese thread "dumb" and getting upset, reporting him for 'revenge rating', opening Hitler's post history and rating his posts "dumb" so that he also gets notifications in kind. Human nature is creating brand new accounts for the sole purpose of rating Hitler's posts "dumb" so that he can't obviously see that it's you doing it, which he may report to me as being a potential sock account so I have to actually investigate this.
After reading Null's posts I guess I can understand more where he's coming from, but I find it strange that he chooses to cater to the people who get bothered by stickers and go out of their way to neg rate every user's posts, as well as the people who cry about them to the jannies. Why do we even want people like this on the site? I get that having to check out every minor report is annoying, but can't you just tell the people crying about stickers to fuck off? Maybe make it bannable to complain about stickers to the jannies? Idk. I know he's not changing his mind at this point, but this is the part that still puzzles me.
Or do. Fuck off to Discord. I don't know what you're hoping to hear as a response.
See, I don't get it. Do you want people who hide in DMs because of stickers to go away or to stay on the site? You make changes so they are encouraged to post more, but you also think they should fuck off?
I realised too late that I should've probably not directly tagged him since he said to not contact him about this again, but he probably still gets the ping from the original quote messages, even if I removed the reply. I'm waiting for the knock, children.
