How is taking 5 seconds to glance at this:

...on only one's most significant posts from the day before,
once and only once
and then never giving a shit ever again for the rest of your life "more mentally ill" than DYING to know every single updoot anyone ever makes on any dumbass post I've ever made OR checking and re-checking my posts every day to see number go up??? You've either misunderstood what I'm saying or you're certifiably insane.
Because it's weird nigga. I am not DYING to know about every single updoot. I don't care enough to go out of my way to check the ratings on my posts on their specific pages. I was good with getting notified and checking the notification while I was reading an actual thread, without having to leave the page.

But catering to people that didn't like mean stickers is literally Redditnigger behaviour. Reddit literally removed the ability to see the dislike number on posts years ago.

The only thing I liked about them is that I'd sometimes get reminded to check on a thread I hadn't seen in a while because someone rated a post of mine in it.

Also say what you will about reddit, but every link is lightning fast, esp. in old.reddit (which still works fwiw). Having a shortcut to my profile posts or whatever is a non-issue because it's as fast anything else. On the kiwi farms, a nice workaround for that was sticker notifications.

I fully expect to be banned for comparing the kiwi farms to reddit in a less-than-favorable capacity, but goddamit Null YOU did this - not me.

As a (former?) newfag, I once made the mistake of poking fun at someone swapping out their stickers on my post because not only was it odd but I had literally never seen anything like it before. I was promptly corrected not to even mention or "sperg" about them. Mmmk. Lesson learned, people are touchy about their stickers,

Then I see the posters here saying stickers help "keep people in line." "But we're not an echo-chamber!" "They are just stickers", etc

Null is 100,000% right. Activity is being driven by sticker collectors.

I’m not reading 100+ pages to figure out what the hell is going on here but I gather it has something to do with people complaining about getting neg-rated. Why not just ban those users?
Because the neg-rated faggots told Null that they felt unsafe so he decided to punish the entire site instead of banning them for terminal faggotry.

The fact that he actually used that specific language in his long explanation post, "people don't feel safe," talking about stickers still absolutely floors me

If Nick Rekieta had used this approach during the shower call his thread would have been successfully deleted.

Right? I mean, a lot of the reason people are here in the first place is because you don't have to worry about tip-toeing around those faggots and/or the site admins that cater to them.

Un-fucking-beleivable. Wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. I wonder if he regrets the choice of words, but that still doesn't excuse or explain the actions.

Honestly, I dont think there is much to say, at least for those that were in this thread since the beginning because we already say all we had and could say (which depending of the user is either a calm, rational, constructive criticism of the decision so Null understands this is becoming less about stickers and just basic convenience and letting minority idiots who dont really care about the site to influence decision making...or just calling Null a jewish faggot nigger, yeah, guys, that will help 🤦‍♂️)

I personally hope that Null changes his mind in due time since I know he is a reasonable person and I really dont want retarded complaining mongoloids to set a precedent that if you complain enough to Null over irrelevant shit, he will alter how the whole site functions so you shut up about it (also about how "its not the right way" to use the site but I wont get into that). It just reminds me how the early internet went to shit because enough people kept complaining "X" feature was making them feel bad or something, we are becoming a "dislike-less" internet and we all are suffering for it. And my point isnt even the stickers or anything, its simply my concern of what will be removed/changed next because of fucking morons I wouldnt give the time of day making enough of a ruckus.

But at least for now, the farms are still just fine, there is just sadly more clicking to do but its still doable, I guess the way to do it is keep a "reactions" tab open and update it ever once in a while, again, all doable. I just hope this wont be the start of a slipperly slope and Im saying all of this as a true and honest 5 year user of the farm (almost old fag I guess, but not there yet) because this is still one of the best places left on the internet.

I can understand both sides of the issue. One one hand: there are problem users. Let Null vent. It's not even been a week, half the people in this thread should probably get off of the Internet.

On the other hand--this forum has recently done a major fundraising event, in which people clearly supported Null's side to send him a huge amount of money for lawfare, yet the same person we supposedly trust to fight legal issues and do all that has had a massive temper tantrum and screwed over the site's functionality just to fuck with people. Maybe it is the stress of all that, and calling him names won't change that.

The manufacturer sperging out and ripping all the steering wheels out of cars to force drivers to use his pedal system doesn't make him right, it just makes him worthy of mockery and loses him the sympathy he would have otherwise garnered.
Your posts have always been informative. You're completely right, I always had sympathy for the man until he decided to become the teacher who punishes the whole class for one or two students' mishaps. The worst part is that I feel there were solutions in the middle, like consolidating the alerts into 1 message per post, so you are not blasted with 31 alerts but can still keep note of how active each thread is and whether you spoke out of line.

This event has solidified for me that Null's ODD diagnosis is real. I always had respect for the man and still do, but he had a genuine meltdown because of his stubbornness. A great trait when going against moral crusades, but a bad one when people who care are trying to course correct him.

Insults also make it worse. When a person is angry, they already will not listen to you. At that moment, they're looking to justify themselves, not to come to an actual agreement. Insulting the person is proof that they were right all along about you, about their decision, and you can go screw yourself. Doubly so with someone with diagnosed stubborn disorder like Null.
Solution? There is none. Let him be. He is still a smart man who can reconsider things later down the line.

As for things for him to consider when that time comes, please think about half measures. The Positive/Negative idea is probably a good one so people don't obsessively track numbers. But do keep in mind, minimizing the amount of ways that people can become social media addicts should not also come at the cost of community policing. The reason why (most) of the website is good is because we can give one another negative feedback when they are out of line. Without that, we have a harder time policing people like ones who skirt the line of fedposting, who are thirstposting, who are typically good posters that are starting to powertrip, or any number of bad behaviors that we all want to nip in the bud. Without community safeguards, the people who feel emboldened to post in public are the same people who made reddit and the chans unbearable. People who cry when given pushback, people without the capacity to introspect when confronted, and people who want to goon everywhere.

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. Please talk about your gardens more. I need garlic growing tips.

It genuinely is wild to me that a dude who has to deal with being consistently smeared as some of the worst shit one can be by actual mainstream press nonetheless has sympathy for rando posters who start shaking and pissing themselves because a notification showed that user ULTRANIGGER9000 gave their take a trashcan.
