I would guess apes and gorillas because they're way too close to human. Anything else from fucking slugs to vampire bats is probably done, though.

I could never imagine any furry with an ape/monkey for a fursona, however I think I saw a lemur fursona from one of Awex Leal's retweets, that's the only time honestly.

I could see it but only because Disney has included them as characters in their movies before (Tarzan and the Jungle Book) and furries often seem to emulate whatever is popular at the time.

But... Utopian Furries are not IRL furries. Not even close.

Honestly, I don't think they would want anything to do with IRL furries.

When you do a comic with people who dress up in anthropomorphic animal suits a lot of people are just going to assume you're a furry, especially actual furries who seem to consider literally everything featuring anthropomorphic animals furry (This seems to bother fans of the webcomic Lackadaisy in particular I've noticed).

Gonna have to third it with apes, though monkeys will very rarely appear... I'd say after that would be fish, namely bony fish. Sharks can and do exist 'cause they're cool and Street Sharks was a thing, and cetacean based ones also exist because rubber furs are fucking perverted.

That's a good guess, but I'd have to say animals with negative things associated with them and/or strange faces that can't be easily adapted, like pigs and elephants.

Pigs and Elephants are pretty uncommon. Your observation is spot on about the physical qualities of the animals and their popularity in the fandom. I've only come across one person ever who had a slug fursona. Invertebrates are super unpopular because they are the least murry
