I was around for Gamergate, initially at first, I stepped out when a lot of the really gay shit seemed to happen. I don't know that it'll exactly happen again, a lot of factors came together back then in a way that's probably impossible to replicate. The internet being so much more centralised and TOS being wielded like a cudgel against any wrongthink is a big one.
In terms of doing it again, can't say I'm too enthusiastic but hopefully there are some lessons learnt that make the sequel less cringe.
No E-celebs would be a good start. Don't look to big accounts hoping they'll parrot your shtick. They're whores, fuck em. The strength of something like this is that most people generally agree ESG shit is stupid and want it gone, that isn't going to change but individuals can be torn down. Additionally, the sort of muckrakers who seek to increase their profile through outrage usually have more baggage than they're worth.
Keep to the message, if we see SBI or anything like it, we don't buy. Don't even get into why, as soon as you articulate your reasoning behind it, you'll alienate some of your own side and dilute the impact. In a similar vein, don't participate in dumb arguments trying to convince people. This was why so many people hated gamergate people and wanted them gone, they shat up forums arguing about minutia. This goes doubly so for trying to explain that you aren't best buddies with Hitler to unsympathetic observers. You just look retarded if you have to fight on this, you'd do better arguing with a puddle that it shouldn't get your shoes wet.
In fact, I think stop trying to appeal to people who hate you is good enough a principle on its own. Back in Gamergate when everyone involved was accused of being male white supremacists they tried to counter this image by doing shit like #Notyourshield where non-whites and non-women would post their faces to prove they weren't and running strawpolls to demonstrate they were mostly left-libertarian leaning. It convinced nobody, you go on wikipedia now and look at #Notyourshield it maintains the line that all of these accounts were fake sockpuppets, a line invented out of thin air by coping journos and sanctified as fact by the citation thoughtloop. You aren't going to win this, stop caring what they think.
If you try to appeal to them, you just reinforce that their worldview is the one that matters. It's why I don't like the people who point out that the companies don't do pride flags for their Middle-East accounts. You realise this implies that they should do it over there too, right? If you want it gone, argue that it should be gone.
Also, get the fuck off discord. That isn't advice pertaining to this, just life advice in general, don't do it. Not even once.
