On the issue of DID, I wrote a post about it a while ago in the Tranch thread.
I understand them. That’s why I hate them.

All "DID " or "MPD" are all made-up, for the simple reason I alluded: no such case ever claimed to work 3 (or 16, or whatever numbers of "personalities" they claim they have) jobs simultaneously; they just find so many different ways of annoying other people.
Good explanation, and I'm inclined to think you're right. I think the whole concept of "alters" or separate personalities likely came about because someone who has been severely traumatized as a child, when going into this dissociated state, may seem to revert to a younger version of themselves as a result of the traumatic flashback causing the dissociation. And somebody (psychological professional, or whoever) came along and gave that "personality" its own identity, even though it was still the same person, just experiencing a mental health crisis. The real tell for all the fakers is that they are able to identify when they're experiencing this "switch", recall it later, remember details about the "alter", etc., which is flat out impossible with a real dissociative state that profound.
“I generally pass decently” means “I don’t pass.” I am 100% certain that there are significant parts of his story about “this guy” that are missing.
“Alters” are just imaginary friends. A way for fundamentally boring people to pretend they’re vicariously interesting. I’m not surprised that so many troons claim to have it, it’s the same deal - become the person they want to be without putting in the effort of making genuine change.
Some of the recommendations for "fixing" the son are hilariously stupid.
I can't imagine constantly worrying about if people will play along with my physical presentation. I imagine it drives many of them into a paranoid tailspin.
To expand slightly from personal experience - a personality (usually a very basic and sketchy one) that can handle the stress and trauma appears if there is no other choice. They do not talk to "you," there's no cutsy little notes and comments - as far as "you" are concerned, there's a blank space (or, at most, a few confused impressions like a half remembered dream) where that time period should be. Think of it more like an alcoholic blackout than anything else.
This makes sense. I suppose another example would be when you see your child at imminent risk of harm from a stranger and the little switch in your brain marked 'Viking Berserker Mode' automatically flips on. You enter a headspace that is otherwise totally inaccessible without the right external stimulus.
It would be fun to fuck with the patient by talking to all the alters. Then tell the “main personality” that one of the alters didn’t consent to GRS and due to medical confidentiality, you can’t say which one.
