WhatifAltHist / Rudyard Lynch - History youtuber, galaxy brained, no credentials and no sex

Rudyard recently had a debate with two other guys on the possibility of an American Civil War. Rudyard argues that crazy right wingers and lefties on Twitter are strong enough to keep a civil war going, with limited federal government intervention.

When I saw the title of the new video and image above, I assumed this would be a troll on Rudy's part. I thought it would fit in with the way he plays with being radical but actually sensible, how people have false assumptions about him and this would be him playing into it. Would have been funny. I watched this one and I don't think that's the case. Credit to Rudyard, this was the first of his videos I was able to watch without pausing to collect myself.

Basically, the CIA discovered astral projection. It's a way into the spirit world. I know there are documents with where the CIA claims to have some success in getting people to map sites they'd never seen. I tend to believe these are typical CIA obfuscation tactics. Yeah, they got up to some weird shit back then, but I think half of it was just for the lulz/disinformation about what they were actually doing. Rudy believes the CIA.

Some guy named Robert Monroe taught himself to access the spiritual world. Even though (get this!) he had never studied world religions at all, what he saw mirrored aspects of Hindu and Buddhist thought. He didn't know till someone who had studied those religions told him. Incredible. Anyway, Rudy seems to take everything this guy as probably true.

Psychics actually exist and this has already been proven by science. It's genetic.

Industrial society, surprisingly, is bad for our spiritual development and the spirit beings are pretty disturbed by us. In turn, the leaders of our society predictably don't want anyone to have anything to do with the spirit world.

Beyond that, his theory of the spirit world/souls/infinity is a standard Oriental mishmash. About what you would expect. I didn't take enough notes to do it justice so watch for yourself if you're keen but it isn't anything special.

Be careful would-be spiritual sailors, Rudy warns. You could have a bad trip. I'm really hopeful for the Psychedelia Arc. He has referenced taking psychedelic drugs (and referred to kratom as a 'supplement' which shows he's pretty cavalier or in denial about his drug use), so who knows what could happen. These things can lead to extreme personality and worldview changes.

Oh yeah, and he got a sponsorship for a perfume company. Guys, if you are going out on a date, ya gotta smell good. Not that you'd want to go on a date in current year as you'll probably get metoo'd.

It seems my previous reply on this thread was incorrect. It was only a few days till Rudy went complete batshit.

Oh so when an artsy girl with candy-coloured hair does it, it's just silly new age crap. But when a male-dominated alphabet soup agency does it, it suddenly counts??
The difference is you'd probably not end up dead with an art hoe.

I'm not sure if anything's changed, but Rudyard does kratom. He said he uses it as a tool to enhance his work. I believe it was in the same video that he admitted to being below average IQ in. I don't believe kratom has negative effects on intuition; that being said, my knowledge comes from il/lit/erates telling me it'll make me a better writer.

According to the DEA, Kratom does have the side effect of delusions. Another report from the National Library of Medicine suggests Kratom is linked to psychosis.
