There actually are people today who believe in the Norse myths. They believe Thor, Loki, Odin, Baldur, etc. were all real people at one point in time. All things considered, Valve's been handling this pretty well. They know their primary job is being a digital retail front for games and censoring bad reviews is going to drive customers away.

Here's the impossible female protagonist.

-Not oversexualized, yet still conventionally attractive. You don't need to make your character actually repulsive to beat the stereotype. An athletic build works, and fits the character.
-Strong and capable on her own, being able to fight armored gun toting soldiers and use their guns, yet still vulnerable and not a one woman army, and still relies on others in her journey.
-Well written, her main motivation is to save her sister, her backstory shows her as a flawed character with a tough upbringing, and her gender is never in any way relevant to the story.

Funnily enough DICE devs specifically stated that they wanted a character that's not another bimbo or a macho man, and a character that would appeal to everyone despite her gender. And they've succeeded in it, especially with the game being fully in first person.

But that was 2008, before Gamergate and before ESG ruled the industry. Those days are long gone unfortunately.

EDIT: This is the most crucial point that I forgot because the character is so well designed that I didn't pay attention to it when trying to point out the woke shit. Faith is Asian, so you have the ethnicity diversity point for that.
