Fanzines started as a means for fans to discuss their favorite comics in the days before the internet, but over the decades were compromised into publicity and advertising devices for the publishers instead of a true fan outlet. until eventually being made obsolete by the rise of fandom message boards, blogs, and news websites in the 90s-00s.
That said Rippazine is priced at $7 as an add-on with no extra shipping, as opposed to $25 + $10 shipping like ROK!T was. I doubt it will make a lot of money but it seems priced correctly for what it is, probably cost next to nothing to make, and maybe the fans will actually enjoy it.

It's not just fan content though. It's stuff like previews, catch-ups, original short stories, write-ups, AND fan content. Alterna still does this too with their "It Came Out on A Wednesday" series. It's not competing with forums in the first place.

I think that could be a response to some of the criticism for ISOM 1, he tried to put too much world building in and it slowed the pace a little to the point it was nicknamed by some as "Rippaverse 1". Now there's a dedicated space for that.

The problem with the rippaverse is that it isn't even a story yet. Its a hype train. What, 3 books out, and 2 on the way and ISOM hasn't even figured out the Jasmine and Darren thing yet. Why are we getting all these other comics when the day one story hasn't been completed. And none of that matters cause everyone is just mad about fuckin money, movies, and merchandising. The only thing thats happened so far is ISOM's dude got kidnapped and rescued. Its fucking BORING and NO ONE in comicsgate should be criticizing that because NO ONE is making great stuff. Its all uneven. Even Cyberfrog with its artwork still doesnt have much of a story.
