I disagree, but even if that were true, "not much [to talk about]" is still a pretty callous thing to say under the circumstances. Especially given how deeply involved Nick was in that case. I doubt very much Vic or his fans considers this a small thing.
The problem with online relationships is that you have to take a person at face value, and if there's no outward signs of alcoholism, and they aren't saying there's a problem, you truly have no way of telling how bad it's become until it's too late. And that's always been the thing with Nick, he's always claimed to have it under control and given the appearance of being sober. For a long time it was reasonable to think that even when he did get noticeably drunk, it was just for the stream. None of us were sitting there with him while he rage tweeted at 3am with a bottle of whiskey.
I'm not saying he's not a piece of shit in general, but I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt either. It's simply a matter of parsing what he said.
