He maxed out his student loans. Literally took too many useless classes without graduating to where he achieved the near impossible and the government temporarily cut him off. This is in his own telling.

I'd bet money he was called on the carpet for failing to progress towards graduation satisfactorily. Yes, that's a thing, and they cut you off for it. It's easy enough to take a couple of classes in your major and continue, but any effort is too much for Zack. Don't they know he almost died, and got very muddy?

Obviously I can't know for sure but I suspect Zach hit one of the soft caps for loans too. These are basically the same thing, you essentially just do extra paperwork and he'd be slightly limited and have to take actual classes for a couple semesters before being restored. For most people they wouldn't actually consider this being cut off entirely.

I wouldn't be surprised if Zach used it as an excuse to respond to the mildest pressure from Heather regarding his dedication by completely dropping the endeavor.

Personally, I would accept even just 18 good arguments over 349200 bad ones.
Sadly common in Britain that the losing side of a policy consultation will cry about the number of responses in their favour. Extremely tedious. Whatever people might think about the outcome, it was never a public vote. (Also pressure groups typically provide a standard response for their supporters to send in, which is a valid way to show the strength of feeling, but in the consultation report just gets lumped together under the line "we received 451 responses that said…")

Came here to post this:
["Who's responsible for the NHS halting puberty blockers"]
Which Tony Reed retweeted:
Tony can't decide whether the story is that "puberty blockers ARE NOT BANNED!!!1" (Jack Turban's position) or that "they're banned because of a shadowy international cabal!":
I do enjoy when reality gets so bad for the troons they respond by turning into a combination of LGBTQAnon and the Principal Skinner meme.

Hilary Cass and Cass review member Riittakerttu Kaltiala met with the Florida Board of Medicine's Patrick Hunter, a member of a right-wing Catholic medical group with a faith-based commitment against ever approving of gender-affirming care:

Did we know that SEGM conference speaker Riittakerttu Kaltiala is also on the advisory board for NHS England's Cass Review? We do now:

Kaltiala and Hilary Cass have both worked with Florida Board of Medicine member Patrick Hunter:

What I like in particular about this kind of response is how plainly wrong it is. It's quite easy to show the cogs of government (& I include in that the NHS, etc) turning on the matter of the GIDS clinic at the Tavistock, even if we restrict ourselves to "official" figures speaking in public:
To suggest that we got to this point, where puberty blockers will only be given to children as part of clinical research, as the result of a secret conspiracy among a few bigots is to live in a fantasy world.

I love how they all come right up to the edge of realization, but they are all too narcissistic and cultish to allow themselves to question why everyone hates them now. They brush it off as everyone suddenly being bigoted for no reason. In dozens of countries, across multiple languages and professions and ideologies. Just suddenly infected by the transphobia virus. That must be it.

I don't know guys, if over the course of a decade everyone I knew started hating me independently of each other, including people who have never talked to each other and don't agree on anything else? I might start questioning whether I was doing something wrong. Just a thought!

Bowing to a few thousand angry responses would have been the most political choice possible. Of course, I don't know why I expect trannies to know what words mean considering that they still can't answer what a woman is.

The existence of Christians provides just as much evidence of the Christian God as the existence of trannies provides evidence of gender identity.

I remember that Zach used to claim that Nawaf "Eden Knight" al-Shathri was a follower of his, but is there any evidence of this? I searched this thread for "Eden" and "Knight" and couldn't find him referenced before 2023 when he committed suicide, if he was a follower it was a purely one-way relationship.

For what it's worth, that character is female (written and drawn by a male, of course)

Otherwise Zach has been very, very quiet. He has not joined the dawn chorus when Dagny "Nex" Benedict's death was ruled as suicide, or commented on Big Al's ban from Twitter. Here are some of the things he retweets.

In a way it's refreshing honesty (sort of).
Most troons would be offended by calling what they do a religion.

But that was over 100 years ago and the "serious" art world never got past it.

Duchamp's stunt, for better or worse, cast a long shadow. Fountain is the Grand Zero of the idea that art is not about an object but a concept. Duchamp gained importance because he wrote a lot, not because he made a lot of art pieces.

You know its so funny to me how my first exposure to zac was over 10 years ago when I was questioning things about life and religion. Its so funny to me how he sounds exactly like those religious people he used to make fun of." Religious people can feel god's presence, and everyone hates us christians for it.Despite non believers best efforts, they can't kill our god and our faith." Its so funny how he acts like his belief in some inner gender identity is some how not the same as a religious person claiming to feel god or their soul.

I've noticed this "you're afraid of conviction" argument popping up in leftie circles in the past month or so. It exploded with the Aaron Bushnell self-immolation. "You just can't imagine believing in anything." But belief is not a virtue unless you believe in virtuous things. I would think Atheist Zack would understand that unsupported zealotry can lead us to being mistaken and destructive.

In The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling she has some really good thoughts about conviction
You know, most of the people in movements that we consider hugely abhorrent, many, many, many of the people involved in those movements understood themselves to be on the side of righteousness believed they were doing the right thing, felt themselves justified in what they were doing.
...
They are completely certain that they are doing the right thing and that justifies cruelty, unmerited punishment telling him he thinks he's not, you know, he's bad, he's wrong and hiding information and they don't ask questions and the burning of the letters there you are, you have it right at the start. You are not allowed to look beyond what we say is normal.
...

There's a huge appeal and I tried to show this in the Potter books to black and white thinking it's the easiest place to be and in many ways, it's the safest place to be. If you take an all or nothing position on anything, you will definitely find comrades, you will easily find a community. I've sworn allegiance to this one, simple idea what I tried to show in the pot of books and what I feel very strongly myself.

We should mistrust ourselves most when we are certain and we should question ourselves most when we receive a rush of adrenaline by doing or saying something. Many people mistake that rush of adrenaline for the voice of conscience. I've got a rush from saying that I'm right in my world view. Conscience speaks in a very small and inconvenient voice. And it's normally saying to you think, again, look more deeply consider this.
