JET Program applicants haven't heard a final decision yet. I keep somewhat infrequent track of the JET program subreddit for this purpose. Judging from this comment, results will be announced late march. Timeline matches the one found on the JET website (March-April). So going by a late march timeline it'll still be at least two more weeks until we know for sure. Note that ED (Early Departers leaving in April) have heard back already but the bulk of the applicants haven't.
btw I recommend checking the JET program sub for weird/funny stories, there is not much but some funny stuff.

For most people, showing your open fly and then showing your butt crack while fixing your open fly would be a very embarrassing moment but for Chibi, it's a day ending in Y. I am surprised but at the same time not surprised (this is Chibi after all) that this incident blew over so quick.

I think it's more likely that he fucked it all up on his own volition in the interview stage. Even on his best behaviour, assuming someone IRL got him to dress like an adult, not mention video games, and not give a single breadcrumb towards his internet footprint, he'll still inadvertently fuck it up. He'll mention something stupid like his motivation for applying being his enjoyment of that vacay run by a travel agent specialising in tours for retarded teenagers.

Actually it's only about half of them that are annoying nerdy weebs. The rest see it as a way to experience a new culture and as an extended vacation in a foreign land while working towards an advanced degree in language studies.

JET might be the gold standard when it comes to English teachers but it's barely better than acting like a trained monkey.

Weirdly there's a part of me that's almost jealous of Chibi. Barring his job and his mother (who he claims to hate??) he's got nothing tying him down to his current life, so he really could just up sticks and move his entire existence over to Japan. Don’t be fooled, Chibi hates his mother in the same way every other angsty teenage boy does. It’s clear he never grew out of that phase of his life and that’s why despite arguing with her on stream and claiming to hate her online, he relies on her to do everything from arranging trips and job interviews to breaking up with his girlfriends for him. He doesn’t like that she’s the only person who truly holds him accountable (and even then, only barely) but he also needs her. I don’t think he’s going to be capable of surviving on his own for long once she dies or becomes senile.

Finished catching up with all 686 pages of this thread after a week or so of on/off reading. I was superficially aware of Chibi from the GDQ incident but had no idea just how much... else there was. By the time I was maybe halfway caught up, I was desperate to know what the "made an ass of himself on national Japanese television" was referring to but managed to resist the urge to spoiler myself, and finally got to see it today. Not exaggerating when I say that's the funniest shit I have seen in literally months. This is my new favourite thread on the Farms, unquestionably. God fucking bless.

The sheer serendipity of the interviewer to just so happen to pick out Chibi of all people is just... magnificent. A true once in a lifetime occurrence. Just imagine, if Chibi hadn't waddled onto the sofa of an early morning filler run at SGDQ, none of this would've happened!
