Rockstar is pathetic, honestly. San Andreas was the peak of their relevance and that was literally 20 years ago. Red Dead Redemption 2 is no more sophisticated than their early 2000s games in terms of its structure or mechanics, despite the billion dollar coat of paint they slathered it in. The question of GTA 6 is whether they will be able to turn the multiplayer into a money printer like they did with 5. If not, the company is probably doomed.

If it turns out to be libshit diversity garbage, the backlash and negative reviews won’t effect the initial console launch, but it could really effect its future earnings when they try to bring it to PC and the next gen consoles… Rockstar did the whole triple dipping thing with gta V and it worked because of how well received and popular it was. And they really need all the sales they can get if the budget is anywhere close to what has been speculated to even make GTA VI

There's not a chance in hell that GTA6 sinks Rockstar no matter how poorly it might perform. I wish it would but it's not happening. Shit, Bioware is still kicking and they've been sharting out stinkers for almost 15 years now.

Edit: keep in mind that Suicide Squad just flushed who knows how many hundreds of millions down the toilet and Rocksteady is still in business although their ultimate fate remains to be seen.

Are they though? Supposedly a studio exists that is branded as Bioware. They have not developed a game that wasn't universally panned in almost 10 years. Is anybody still there now who was there 10 years ago? Rockstar and GTA will always be around in name, but you can only lose so much money over so many decades and still meaningfully exist as a company.

rockstar hasnt had any busts yet though
their last GTA still keeps printing ridiculous amounts of money from the online mode, and RDR2 was one of the best received games of the decade

That's like asking if there's anyone who worked on San Andreas or GTA4 is still present at Rockstar. It doesn't matter who is or isn't there; the industry is a revolving door. Bioware might on life support but they're still supposedly working on another Dragon Age which I think had a new trailer a few months back. Sure it'll be trash and will probably be delayed ad infinium but no matter.
Rockstar is riding high and living large. They haven't failed the same way yet.

But during that time, Dan Houser, Leslie Benzies and Lazlow Jones, arguably the main three figures that made GTA the satire that it was, left the company, they've openly stated that they're gonna drop the old "mean" attitude and will only "punch up", and they already removed an obscure troon joke in the re-release of GTA V for the current consoles.

Lazlow is the biggest loss, because he was the guy responsible for the radio stations, and AFAIK he was responsible for all of it. So, the song selection was Lazlow, the editing and mixing that made the stations feel authentic were Lazlow, and the radio jokes were Lazlow. The VC in-game soundtrack is even taken from old tapes used at radios in the 80's, that's how passionate he was since he had his background in actual radio and comedy work.

In IV he had an entire radio station called Integrity 2.0 which would unlock once you've reached the main island, and it's just pure gold. All the talk show stations were fucking great, and Integrity 2.0 was the best because it was Lazlow "going around" Liberty City doing a live transmission talking to random people.

But yeah, good days are gone. All that's left is an empty husk of what used to be Sam Houser and Rockstar, Take Two, big daddy Strauss Zelnick and Shark Cards. I have zero hopes on VI being any good if R* under Dan's, Lezlie's and Lazlow's tenure was already losing steam in the 2010's.

GTA6 failing will not magically solve everything. A lot of things need to happen:
  • The Gacha industry needs to lose 80-90% of its revenue where even Blackrock money can't save it. You need a game like Raid Shadow Legends, FGO, or Genshin to start losing money.
  • Esports needs to crumble faster where even Evo and the International can't make profit.
  • Exposing predatory live service and monetization, and how they're even tied to Sweet Baby Inc. somehow
  • More studios embracing any SBI/Blackrock practices need to lose 90% of their profits or even close shop whether theyr'e Western or Japanese studios

A lot of cucks are going to be buying GTA6 and jerk off to it like they jerked off to Spider Cuck 2 until the reality check kicks in. The media will protect GTA 6 like it protected Spider Cuck 2. We need an actual game crash to happen, and we can't feel bad for anyone in the video game industry when it happens.
