I'm not taking sides here, just posting what I have seen on Twitter.

Profile set to private now, but apparently she threatened suicide over Glinner's posts.
"I'm now on stronger anti depressants because of this"

Whatever's going on here, telling everyone that you already had to take meds is a good way to discredit your side of the argument.

How important is protecting kids from tranny groomers to Glinner? Apparently less important than protecting his fee fees. Terves have carried this moron's water for years because he says the right things, but they need to realize his egotist faggotry is hurting their cause.
Terven stans of his generally fall into three camps. Most of them want to use his platform as a springboard for their own stuff and draw attention to their particular pet issues in the troon wars (not realising most of his followers aren't active and that he throws a hissy fit if he has you on his channel and you disagree with him on anything, e.g. Karen Davis, Jennifer Kimmel); some are fans of his old comedy work and are willing to turn up to his much blander new material; and a smaller minority think he's a slam whale.

Glinner got a mention on Jon Ronson's podcast, Things Fell Apart. He's only referred to as a "mutual friend".

Apparently Jon only did the podcast because he was witness to Glinner's obsession with trans shit.

It is really hard to like Ronson or Buxton after this. Both come across as inveterate moral cowards.
Ronson had a long history of being a snake but somehow gets away with it because of the meek and humble facade.

I remember listening to him going back to his home town and it was just one long “I live in London now” to the proles he grew up with.

He’s a friend of Rebecca Watson too. Shane she never got a dedicated thread but she’s faded into obscurity now.

Anyone who gets on ofcom-regulated media either has the current opinion, pretends to, or is considered acceptable by the people who do, on whichever subject they've been invited to discuss.

Politically speaking we (the anglosphere) seem to have sniffed so hard at the Popper view of tolerance that we'll gladly spread ourselves PPP-style out to whatever ideology we come across which isn't ostensibly right-wing, and any perspective which aligns with the opinions and interests of the native population is considered a second coming of Randbot

This can only end well

Honestly, it is not all to surprising about Ronson and I say that as someone who has enjoyed some of his content in the past.

Rebecca Watson, as in that annoying chick from the Skeptics Guide to the Universe who was replaced by a more likable but also often insufferable chick?

That’s here. I now feel old remembering when SGTTU was good.

Glinner had commented on who the skeptic community had completely fell for the gender bullshit and the rot started when her and her buddies stopped being party girls and decided tumblr feminism was how to keep some power.

If only we’d listened to the mad Irishman.

Following this, Louis Theroux announced Adam Buxton would be a guest on an episode of his podcast and got piled on by TERFs; impressively so, considering he doesn't really wade into this often and transgender issues weren't otherwise mentioned.

(Someone who knows how to archive with replies, help )

I feel like Louis is a figure who could've illuminated some of the wacky gender shit for the general public, both sociocultural (he visited polyamorous couples in Love Without Limits, has met countless sex workers) and the medical horrors (I think he had a minor cosmetic procedure in the plastic surgery episode. Orchiectomy, Louis?), and come away relatively unscathed. I suppose he would've lost the Chelsea Manning interview although I didn't find that as enlightening as it could've been.

I think it's a path he absolutely could've taken following the 2015 Transgender Kids documentary and it was evident he wasn't a true believer from that doc. He follows enough GC figures on Twitter to be aware of their arguments and of course Megan Phelps-Roper from the Westboro Baptist Church went on to do the Witch Trials of JK Rowling.

Back to Glinner, a funny thing I noted from some interviews with him is nobody has seen Black Books. The interviewers will give him a gushing intro like "our guest is an acclaimed comedy writer known for Father Ted, The IT Crowd and The Black Book." I guess I can't blame the Americans.

r/skeptic is so retarded these days. It's just for laundering the woke, progressive fake worldview amongst some science news posts. I still sometimes look there because I must hate myself. Today there's a thread on trans in sport and of course, anyone being in any way reasonable or truthful is downvoted. The last thing people want on there is skeptical inquiry.

I still sometimes listen to the SGU, but it became kind of sad. Cara is down with the woke and trans stuff. You kind of feel the guys aren't necessarily on it but it's just a battle they are unwilling to fight. They'll just go along with it. Sometimes Steve will get into an argument with Cara but he just kind of then just stops as he knows it's futile. They'll give up on being rational evidenced based people on various political issues. Once Trump came along, the show noticeably went down hill. In part because there was so much bullshit and conspiracy theories laundered about him that it became impossible to be a genuine skeptic and not address it. Which I think in large part is what killed the Skeptical movement's momentum. Plenty just left because they couldn't be skeptical about things because others were so tribal and political.

My impression is that when it comes to the trans stuff and kids. The approach is, "if this limited look at some studies and data is correct, then transing kids is fine." Not willing to look at the larger issue or consider more. Being aware that what is published is very limited and biased but not acknowledging it. Leaving the door open for, "well at the time if you looked at the published science, now we know different."

From some recent posts, it seems Glinner is on board with the ethnic cleansing of Gaza and fallen for Israeli propaganda. I guess he's still clinging onto hope of a career in media after all.

Linehan only directed the first season of Black Books and then Dylan Moran ghosted him and went on and made the other two seasons without him. In his biography, Linehan was really bitter about it and said he never even watched the second and third season. Maybe that's why interviewers never bring it up. It's a sore point for him.

Speaking of his autobiography, large parts of it read like Father Ted's acceptance speech when he got the Cleric of the Year award. In large parts, it's just a list of people Linehan is holding a grudge against, and it is just as tedious as Ted's diatribe. I wonder whether he ever became aware of the similarity.

(The other scene of his writing he reenacted irl was when Jen got addicted to social media in IT crowd).

Ted was a self-insert cynic, a Glinner trademark. There may have been some accidental self-awareness in the Cleric of the Year speech

I don't care what anyone says, I like Glinner. He may be a fucking idiot from time to time, but I think he's well intentioned and tries to do good, even when it costs him. There's really not much better to be said about a person because we're all fucking idiots from time to time.

I think he was using self-awareness of his own occasional cringeworthiness, much like what Ricky Gervais did for the David Brent character in The Office. That is to say, he took things that he was naturally inclined to do, but his conscience told him not to do because of how silly they would make him look, and had the character do them.

As someone who has been keeping an eye on this thread since its inception and linehan's antics a while before then, this is possibly the most hilariously fucking pathetic thing I have seen all week

Literally and physically cuddling up to the man you spent years shrieking about being a subhuman nazi and gleefully cheering on their arrest, solely because he is the only one who can fucking stand to be seen with you is just fucking sad. Its like seeing Brianna Wu happily playing Mario Kart with Ethan Ralph because he is the only one willing to return his calls

Tbf he has to physically cuddle up with everyone to fit in their photos, he's a absolute unit.
I thought it was nice that they made up, though, but he doesn't seem to have completely learnt his lesson when it comes to sperging out about other people who he perceives as offending him (eg the ultra TERFs and Not All Gays and the like). He did acknowledge his shit behaviour towards Dank and it seemed like a sincere apology.
