A person they retweeted
genuinely fucking daffy
God forbid a celebrity has a sense of privacy and doesn’t share every fucking second of their lives and those of their minor children on multiple social media platforms.
They really can’t put themselves in other people’s shoes do they?
JKR is massively, massively wealthy. Even before all of this shit kicked off, personal and property security would have been a concern because of stalkers, thieves, and kidnapping attempts for ransom. It’s likely even before she roused the swivel eyed ire of the Troon cult, she got advise from very expensive security consultants. One of those pieces of advice would have been not to post details of your life online, as it allows people to figure out the places you frequent. So there’s a good reason for not posting info about her children’s sports fixtures.
Rowling has always been guarded about her private life and choosy about publicity. She doesn’t do a lot of interviews and she doesn’t attend celebrity parties or premieres. This is likely because she doesn’t like doing it and she doesn’t actually have to. If she wants to say something, she’ll do it on Twitter, her website, or in her work.
Celebrities like actors have to keep self-publicising in order to keep fans engaged and their faces in the spotlight, because
they are the product. They use their families in the same way because they’re part of the image they are selling; and they might be trying to break the kids into entertainment as well. JKR is not the product being sold. It’s her books and her IPs, neither of which require her to whore herself and her family out on Instagram for promotional purposes.
Her husband is, I believe, a doctor, not a handbag. JKR is intelligent, rich, and had a shitty first marriage, she was probably very careful about who she got hitched to the second time around. He has his own career and isn’t a public figure. He’d have been given the same advice as Rowling about keeping himself and his family safe.
As for her parenting style - we literally know nothing about it and I think it’s telling these terminally online lunatics think a willingness to give children privacy and anonymity is somehow a sign of abusiveness. Her eldest child, Jessica, is an adult and presumably no longer lives with her mum. She probably also has access to a massive trust fund so if her mum was a complete monster she’d be able to come out and say “FUcK YOU MUMMY!” and still have a life of comfort.
My armchair psych. opinion is that these people are angry at their own parents. Maybe that anger is justified and maybe it isn’t. They loved Harry Potter way too much and they loved Rowling for creating it and thought she shared all of their views. They see her non-adherence to the cult as a personal betrayal and they are projecting all of their own worst inclinations and rage at their real parents on her. The internet has driven them insane.
